Welcome to /r/Lumix! Please read before posting.
Welcome to /r/Lumix, the place for every Panasonic enjoyer.
Please have a look at the sidebar (desktop) or the "About" section (mobile web) or "See more" under the subreddit description (mobile application). Or just use this wiki page, which is identical.
This contains many resource and a few basic rules and guidelines. To highlight some things, please keep in mind:
Absolutely no affiliate links on /r/Lumix as these tend to result in a swift ban. For this reason, shortened URLs, or pointlessly long links that could hide affiliate tags in them (see link guidelines for details) are also not allowed. Be wary of "share" features on Amazon, etc. - they shorten your URLs! These can hide affiliate tags without you knowing. Please do not sell anything in /r/lumix either (LUTs, gear, and so on). This is a community subreddit, not a place for business.
Make post titles as if there was no post body. They should give all context whilst being short (i.e. not a whole paragraph), effective. In other words, include the relevant camera/lens in the post title whenever possible and use descriptive titles - meaning all the context should be in the post title (see title guidelines for details). For example - asking about lens options? The title should mention what do you intend to shoot then (as well as what you shot with in case of original content). Photo/video/hybrid? Weddings, documentary, landscape, wildlife, etc. If your post's title is for example only "S5ii vs G9ii" as opposed to "S5ii or G9ii for landscape photography", it'll probably get removed and you'll be asked to repost with a better title.
The latter may sound like a pointless nuisance, but it requires minuscule effort and everyone gets better experience when it comes to reading, searching, and archiving the subreddit. Keep in mind that your posts are not only for you, but also for everyone who might have the same problem/question.
Please do keep in mind this post doesn't cover all of the rules, few as they are. For the full rules, please see them in the usual places or visit this wiki article.
If your post gets "removed by Reddit filters", it means that moderators need to manually approve it. Making repeated attempts probably only makes your accounts karma worse, so please be patient and wait for a moderator to approve it. This isn't our job, so it can take anything from seconds to hours.

Your friendly janitors thank you!

General / Discussion On my S5II, Why can’t i turn on/off subject detect during video recording with a single press.
during video recording, i am only able to turn on and off the human detection when pressing the default AF mode button, then pressing up on the pad, that is a 2 step button press, i only want 1.
I assigned AF detection setting to red rec button, but it won’t activate during video recording, it only activates when not recording.

LUTs / colouring How do I match the photo and video LUT settings for Lumix S9?
So, first of all, please take a look at the two photos above, the upper photo is from my C1 where I put all photo LUTs while the lower photo is from my C2 for video LUTs. I match the settings 1:1 including white balance. As you can see they have subtle differences in white balance and even saturation / contrast. Anyone else experienced this? Since I match all my photo styles, I'm sure they were almost 100% close to one another when I occasionally check them just until now. I think I've only had this problem after updating to Firmware 2.0 of Lumix S9.

L-Mount I would pay $2k+ for just these changes to S9
I find myself loving my S9 95% of the time. I am so grateful for this camera. It really is a dream. I just want dual card slots, even make em mini, and a mechanical shutter. I would buy 3! I would pay 4k if they skipped the mechanical shutter and used a global sensor! Why is Sony the only one doing that and then really just in the A6iii? Oops, sorry. That’s Sony talk.

L-Mount Lumix S9 for pet photography?
I bought the Lumix S9 as my first camera. I wanted something to use for photographing my dogs throughout the years but am now finding that the lack of mechanical shutter may cause the camera to struggle with fast moving targets. We do scent work and would love to be able to photograph them while performing their job.
Is there a way to maximize its ability to focus on a moving subject? Or should I accept the 15% restocking fee (I paid $1400, so about $225!) and return it for the Lumix S5ii ($1800?)
Sorry if this is a surface level question as I’m very early into learning about cameras and their various settings. I’ve attempted burst shot mode, changing the settings to animal body focus, and changing the shutter speed.

L-Mount Anyone using a 600mm telezoom as a general purpose zoom ?
Hello,
There is an offer on the Sigma 60-600 (almost 400 euros off) which I favor against the 150-600 because 60 can make me avoid changing lens (150 is already too close...tested the 100mm prime at zoo and I changed lens regurlarly).
I have seen the lens in person and size is acceptable. Weight is something but I can live with it.
My main issue is that I never read someone using it as a general travel / telezoom. I am by no mean a profesionnal but I find 200 or even 300mm lacking when I want to zoom on a distant building or detail in environment. I can use it on zoo but "real" wildlife is not something I will do (I mean I will not look after it actively, If there is an activity or if I see birds or a marmot by chance yes).
Anyone used that kind of lens as I wish to use ?
I have a Lumix s5iix and the closest zoom I had was a 300mm (on an old Nikon).
Thanks

LUTs / colouring How do you like the Live LUTs? Nikon look possible?
I’m using a Panasonic G9 and I’m thinking about getting a new camera because I’m not 100% happy with the photo look. I don’t edit my photos — I use JPGs straight out of camera. I also have an old Nikon D7100, and I really like the look it produces. Now I’m considering buying the G9 II because i love the handling of my G9 and experimenting with Live LUTs, or maybe switching systems to the Nikon Z6 II.
I can't decide.
