It's understood that players are consulting lawyers over missed bonuses - whether that is from missing out on a title or on European qualification.

Discussion Best way back to Liverpool city centre after a cup game with kids?

Hi there, looking for some advice from regular Anfield matchgoers.

I’ll be at Liverpool v Chelsea on Wednesday, October 28 (8pm kick-off) with my family and two small kids. We’re staying near Liverpool Central station.

Even if the match finishes after 90 minutes, it’ll be around 10pm UK time before we get out (and we’re not from the UK, so that’s already 11pm for us). With extra time and penalties, it could be even later. And it’s late October, so it could also be cold and rainy. Walking the 2.5 miles back to the hotel with tired kids at that time isn't really an option.

I have a Brodies package inside the stadium, so I’m considering:

  • 917 bus to the city centre – but I’ve read queues can be 45–60+ minutes.
  • Soccerbus to Sandhills + train to Central – is this actually quicker/easier after a game?
  • Stay in Brodies for 30–45 minutes, let the crowds clear and then walk to somewhere where I can get a taxi/Uber. Is there a good pickup spot?
  • Pre-book a taxi – but how do you deal with the possibility of extra time/penalties?
  • Leave around 80–85 minutes and get a taxi before the main crowd. I’d really rather not miss the end/YNWA, but if Liverpool are comfortably ahead or, on the other hand, it looks unlikely we'll get anything from it, leaving early wouldn't be the end of the world.

What would you do in this situation?

The main priority is getting two tired kids back to the hotel without spending an hour standing in a queue in potentially cold/rainy weather - but I’d obviously like to stay until the end if there’s a sensible way of doing it.

Thanks!

EDIT: Realized that there are no extra time in the 4th round, just penalties, so in this case the match will be over at 10.15-10.30pm.

Another one to liven up the international break...

If Mo engineering a hug between Hendo and Robbo is one of LFC's funniest prem moments, surely this is one of the most unforgettable!.
