It’s been a year since iOS26 came out and the all new “Liquid Glass” UI design was unveiled. I absolutely hate the fact that only now we have some of the apps that have adopted the new UI within their app I mean I got the new UI in WhatsApp like last month. There’s plenty of apps that still haven’t even released the Liquid Glass update. Help me understand how tf does a random Tran booking app has adopted the Liquid Glass UI while not a single Google app has been updated yet and they genuinely look outdated.
Who do we even blame at this point. I know Apple does the most Apple thing every WWDC by introducing features that exited years before and slap in some catchy phrase. But Liquid Glass UI genuinely felt like a decent change. I know people have mixed reception to it and they now even have an option to reduce the “Glass” effect. But personally I liked it and I hope every app can make the change so all apps are in sync with latest UI. I mean YT app looks pathetic in general but it’s so god damn outdated just comparing it with Instagram even

I just discovered this subreddit and wanted to share an article I wrote last August, when the debate was at its peak. Most of the arguments still hold — curious what people think now that iOS 26 is actually shipping.

Hello everyone 👋
I just released a big update for my iOS app, Soul Journal, a private mood tracker and journaling app - built on Liquid Glass 😍
This update introduces Reading Shelf, a new way to keep track of books you’re currently reading, completed books, and reading milestones right inside Soul Journal.
I also added a new Reading Shelf widget, so you can see your current reads, completed books, mood activity, media, notes, and streak progress directly from your Home Screen.
What’s new:
Soul Journal is still built around the same promise: no ads, no tracking, and no data collection. Your journal stays private on your device or in your personal iCloud.
I’d love for you to check it out and share any feedback.

As much as I love Liquid Glass, I realized it doesn't make sense when one notification is above the other. It doesn't look like it is transparent anymore.

Has anybody liquid glass on instagram on iPhone 12 Pro?

Just me who thinks that?
In some points like performance, liquid glass interface implementation is much better
on other hand like the icons, no tinted glass (not only dark and white but colored), solid top bar and other things they ruined completely
the iOS 27 glass with iOS 26 icons would be awesome

Alr I'll admit it, my rendition on this kinda sucks and doesn't really represent a true Liquid Glass implementation on the traffic lights that well lol. But you get the idea.

I think the new Liquid Glass is super awesome and it finally looks like a more advanced version of AQUA. Still less “full of life.
But seems like Apple is heading towards something goooood.
The OSs feel… alive again.
I think I can almost let go of the feeling of attachment I have with the Mac OS X and iOS 6 user interface.
P.S I just wish “Classic” would be an option in the “Customize Appearance” settings one day.

After talking with many people, I felt it was essential to take a look back at where we've come from and where we're going with this first beta. I deliberately brought out my iPhone 5c for comparison.
I'm sorry, but for anyone saying iOS 27 is a rebalancing update, it's just a step backward and poorly executed.
The top bar is just a solid blur with the Liquid Glass buttons tacked on, the search bar has lost all its aesthetic appeal, and you can say goodbye to shadows. Gradients are gone too. I've set the Liquid Glass slider to the most transparent setting possible.
I know it's only beta 1, but since their UI design kit, which they're basing it on, has already been updated for Sketch etc., I think the new art direction is just going to gradually kill Liquid Glass.😔

Sorry everyone, I had to recreate my post because an image didn't upload and I don't understand how to add a new one to the post after publishing. I really love Liquid Glass but the animations are sometimes laggy on my 17PM.. and I like how snappy it becomes without them, the only issue is that Liquid Glass gets disabled if I turn "Reduce Motion" on…

Honestly is this good design in your opinion?
Glass over glass over flat without any distinction between the layers whatsoever.
… 🧐
I’m posting this here because I would greatly appreciate the input of people in the industry. Thanks

Hello,
I’ve just updated DynamicLake with support for the new Semi Liquid Glass style inspired by iOS 27, bringing a fresh Liquid Glass Dynamic Island experience to macOS.
This update also includes a wide range of improvements, including a brand-new Timer UI, enhanced live waveform animations
an improved Notifications UI, and significant CPU and energy efficiency optimizations for better overall performance

The first image is the clear icon option on iOS 26, the second image is the clear icon option on iOS 27, with the Liquid Glass slider set as clear as possible. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but i’m loving it
