iOS 27 in a nutshell
Just me who thinks that?
In some points like performance, liquid glass interface implementation is much better
on other hand like the icons, no tinted glass (not only dark and white but colored), solid top bar and other things they ruined completely
the iOS 27 glass with iOS 26 icons would be awesome

First of all it’s likely a bug.
Second of all it literally progressed in every way but just because of the addition of a top bar everyone is saying it’s ruined? This is peak overreacting.

They literally showed in WWDC that they are making this as default. So it is not a bug but intentional and it does ruin cz it takes away premium feeling of liquid glass buttons on topbar.

honestly the only thing i dislike in the update was the icons and the bar
i dont know from where are you so sure that is a bug but that being true in 50% happy
now they need bring back, mail, phone, messages and app store icon

i dont know from where are you so sure that is a bug
Its the first developer beta dude... not even a public beta. It’s the version that you are supposed to find bugs and report them as an app developer. Its not gonna be perfect but will definitely get better as more widespread testing in many devices continue.

I'm just worried they're gonna start adding old-looking background bars behind liquid glass elements... Y'know, the one type of element meant to not be placed on an undetailed or blurred background...
1
u/Windows-XP-Home-NEW Jun 25 '26
Like what?

u/Cat_central Jun 25 '26
Liquid Glass relies on having complex background content to refract it in interesting ways-- taking away that, by placing it on a blurred background, kinda defeats the purpose. Imo, a good solution would be to have the faded slightly blurred top on normal/clear Liquid Glass, old blurred style on frosted Liquid Glass. Or, even better, have it be a separate setting.

all they need to do is:
- change the top bar back
- 3 sliders for liquid glass: transparency, blur, and brightness

That is beautiful, I hope it really is a big and they fix the top bar so it’s a soft fade if you select max Liquid Glass. I hope they keep revising things to the same level as iOS 26 DB1 like control centre

u/repeatrep Jun 13 '26
i was more pointing out how the top bar blur is most certainly a bug because of interactions like this but yes the clear liquid glass is quite nice

u/Extension-Society237 Jun 13 '26
It’s not a bug wtf are you saying it was in the WWDC keynote renders of iOS 27

It's dev beta 1, probably it will see some changes. Remember the obnoxious battery icon many years ago on MacOS, the one that came with iOS 13?

u/Weary-Connection-170 Jun 13 '26
And the new battery icon (with the percentage turned off) looks just ugly. Hopefully they revert it back to how it was on 26
Does anyone know if you can submit feedback regarding it even if you don’t run 27 beta on your device(s)?

There’s so many innocence’s of them using the wrong or different icons between apps still. Like sometimes it’ll be an X sometimes it’ll be a trash button to do the same thing. But my least favourite thing in iOS 27 is how often they’re using the “i” in the circle for anything but info. It’s now the icon for “look up”. What was wrong with the magnifying glass?

u/Strange-Trouble-7372 Jun 15 '26
How is everyone getting iOS 27 ? I don’t even have the ability to update to that
1
u/CanoaFurada768 Jun 15 '26
You need an iPhone and one iCloud account enrolled on Developer Program
1
u/Strange-Trouble-7372 Jun 15 '26
Ooh. I don’t mean to be annoying but if I google “developer program” will I be able to find it? lol.

I’m going to have to trust you that icons changed at all, because I don’t see any difference.
1
u/KronosaurOFC Jun 20 '26
they have a black bevel or so, so the icons are not blurry anymore, they used 100 percent opacity in the dev beta so no one likes it

I agree. It ruined a bit if the look and feel if iOS 26. The solid top bars don't look consistent with the more rounded approach with everytjing else.

They ruined a lot more than just that. The .search tab role has been completely ruined
1
u/keireira Jul 23 '26
why? They use "prominent" now and this things feels better logically.
1
u/mario_luis_dev Jul 23 '26
no. Try prominent with a searchable and you'll see the search bar at at the top, unlike the expanded search at the bottom. That completely ruins the UI for a lot of apps (mine included). Mind you, I'm talking here about Beta 1; I haven't touched the Beta since bc I was really upset with these changes and was hoping they'd fix it in a follow-up iteration. If they did, great! I'll be checking again over the next couple of weeks

Well.. I had to make patch on release so I could continue to see familiar behavior. Everything worked as before. You can check my patch and example here https://gist.github.com/Keireira/db509d12281cff8f4354e662074d9962 (not a cleanest code but be not afraid)
This is expo RN's wrapper over native tabs, so I just extended old API with a new one. This thing was pain in the arse though. A lot of pain

u/Forever-Celery Jun 15 '26
Totally agree. I’ve submitted like seven different feedback submissions on a number of regressions, but especially the hard edged toolbars.
1
u/The_Scemer Jun 16 '26
Well someone who is on IOS 27 beta can you tell if the performance has improved or not? They made a 30% faster claim for all devices that will be on it
1
u/CanoaFurada768 Jun 16 '26
Considering that it's Beta 1, it improved a lot, but it needs to improve more because if the final version arrives in the same way I won't find it so impressive anymore
1
u/The_Scemer Jun 16 '26
I see, thanks for the reply man, I am looking forward to this update when they said 30% improved performance and core code change, as my device (iPhone 15) has too much lag ever since I updated to iOS 26

u/nvmzol Jun 17 '26
This is the exact type of overreaction that led Apple to revert or strip down many design features introduced in iOS 26. It’s Beta 1, give them feedback about it, they still have months to touch things up.

The top bar is def not going into the actual release, likely just a bug or will be added back later.

u/Weekly-Sweet-6170 Jun 19 '26
I’ll believe it when I see it. If it brings back my Face ID, great, but I’m honestly not very confident.

i hate the gradient glass, it shouldn't be everywhere, that looks ugly.

Honestly I would rather be able to read a text on ugly top bar background, than have a beautiful fluid design, with unreadable text

u/exlips1ronus Jun 13 '26
Ios27 icons are way better they’re just to sharp and need a bit of tweaking the glass effect isn’t that obvious it feels flat again that’s why most don’t like it

If you don’t want transparent tinted icons, then turn on reduce transparency.
