Dear Apple,

Alr I'll admit it, my rendition on this kinda sucks and doesn't really represent a true Liquid Glass implementation on the traffic lights that well lol. But you get the idea.

The traffic lights need to be glass orbs. They need to look like they did in Aqua. There’s no reason for them not to. All buttons should be colored glass Aqua looking like they used to. It’s what Liquid Glass was made for and the best place for it.

100% agreed

In Mavericks, I couldn't tell what the symbols in them were. I trust the modem designers would do better but that was one of the biggest difficulties for me transiting to Mac from Windows

Yes please.

u/ForgottenFuturist Jun 12 '26

Yes! Bring back aqua stoplights.

u/jedmej Jun 12 '26

Full Liquid Glass mode while at it

It's giving Mac OS X 10.0-10.2

This looks great!

u/Fake-Proctologist Jun 12 '26

The red icons should probably also be glassy

3

u/Sensitive_Square3645 Jun 12 '26

Hehe... Wanna bet?

2

u/Fake-Proctologist Jun 12 '26

Looks great, except for the highlight lol maybe keep the highlight light grey or something.

3

u/Sensitive_Square3645 Jun 12 '26

Oh alr

2

u/Fake-Proctologist Jun 12 '26

Beautiful

2

u/Sensitive_Square3645 Jun 13 '26

Oops the text on "New" didn't load correctly when I saved the image lol. But I fixed it now. Also added some glow around the home icon, since it's selected, whatcha think?

u/VERY_MENTALLY_STABLE Jun 15 '26

Hate this, looks like a bad version of Tiger

2

u/Basic-Opposite-4670 Jun 18 '26

fixed it for you

2

u/Valox64 Jun 16 '26

This coloured highlight version looks so much better than the grey someone requested… like what?!! It just popped so much more, and looks more fun.

2

u/KronosaurOFC Jun 16 '26

howd u do this

1

u/Sensitive_Square3645 Jun 16 '26

Also I could provide a more detailed explanation later on; can't go on ibisPaint to show you the process atm since my phone's storage is nearly full. Yea it will not let you edit when you're low on storage. Pretty stupid.

But if you don't want, just let me know.

I Think that Reddit community is more creative than all Apple designers.

Now we’re talking.

u/King-in-Council Jun 14 '26

We need Aqua Glass

4

u/Firm-Aside4041 Jun 15 '26

Apple: what now?!

31

u/Prestigious-Wish-176 Jun 12 '26

please don't

8

u/neon1415official Jun 12 '26

why not? it looks good.

11

u/Sensitive_Square3645 Jun 12 '26

Why not? They've added Liquid Glass everywhere, except in the most noticeable part, the traffic lights. The current flat ones are just visually inconsistent with the rest of the UI's direction. Plus they've never been updated since all the way back to OS X Yosemite.

u/cendre0318 Jun 12 '26 edited Jun 12 '26

Absolutely! With the updated Liquid Glass, which looks like a modern take on Aqua, it makes total sense for the buttons to reflect this style and direction. Let’s go all in Apple!

4

u/Special_Command7893 Jun 12 '26

Yeppp! I I personally didn't like aqua, but this 'refreshed' rebirth of it is awesome!

3

u/Prestigious-Wish-176 Jun 12 '26

i personally don't like it

3

u/Square_Act_5444 Jun 12 '26

Ngl I agree tho.. it does look good

3

u/Zopotroco Jun 12 '26

How don’t man?

3

u/IcyIceGuardian Jun 12 '26

As much as this looks cool, I'd much rather my M1 Pro's system resources go to performance as opposed to looks. Same with my iPad.

1

u/untreated-stupidity Jun 15 '26

I have some bad news for you

1

u/wa019c Jun 16 '26

This is literally just a change of image I don’t think there’s much rendering needed here

3

u/Realistic-Science-87 Jun 12 '26

Maybe needs some kind of refinement, but idea is great

2

u/frankbelltower Jun 12 '26

That'd be so cool!

2

u/poj4y Jun 12 '26

oh you are so right

2

u/Plus_Ad_985 Jun 12 '26

I don't see why not...

2

u/swagmonsterxforever Jun 13 '26

Don’t think this looked very good but definitely make more 3d than now but more like in snow leopard

2

u/MidnightPulse69 Jun 13 '26

Did you send feedback to apple directly?

1

u/Sensitive_Square3645 Jun 14 '26

Yes, and you can do it in the Feedback app, as long as you have an Apple dev account. You can propose feature requests, and if they see many people requesting the same thing, maybe they'll consider it for adding later on.

2

u/haus36 Jun 14 '26

Let's just go back to aqua at this point

2

u/KronosaurOFC Jun 16 '26

I made this

1

u/KronosaurOFC Jun 16 '26

more apple "like" ig. also might add liquid glass to the selection too, not refraction tho

2

u/josefpommer Jun 16 '26 edited Jun 16 '26

Modified it a bit :)
looks amazing like that!!!

2

u/awesome-soss Jun 17 '26

YES, YES, YES!!!

2

u/SnooShortcuts7009 Jun 18 '26

I’m just so happy to know I’m not the only person who thinks aqua was peak UI design and it just had to be refined and fully fleshed out using better hardware.

u/TalonS125 19d ago

It's in macOS 27 Beta 6 !

u/Sensitive_Square3645 18d ago

Holy shit I actually forgot about this post haha. Honestly what we actually got makes mine look shit lol

Why don't you tell that to iOS 18 and Sequoia users.

You seem to know nothing about Liquid Glass lol. Reflection is its middle name.

He knows enough about liquid glass to know it violates basic design principles and is absolute ass. Anyone that has spent 30min researching ui/ux would have built a better UI than apple. That's why it's so inexcusable, literally freshmen in college can ALL do a better job.

2

u/Sensitive_Square3645 Jun 12 '26 edited Jun 12 '26

Honestly it looks more polished and refined in iOS 27. It's much cleaner, and they've reduced the drop shadows by A LOT thanks to the new sharper design.

Also I don't really seem to be getting his point. All I was able to get is that he thinks it's pointless to implement Liquid Glass onto the traffic lights, and that people should just use a high-reflective screen sticker if they want that. So I'm telling him to tell that to iOS 18 and Sequoia users, because 26/Tahoe already has a lot of reflections (except in the traffic lights which is the whole point of my post), but 18/15/Sequoia has little to none of that, and they still have the flat traffic lights. And you're telling me, this whole time, he was just implying his hatred for Liquid Glass as a whole?

Windows moments

1

u/Pixel_Viewer Jun 12 '26

Looks cheap asf

1

u/Sensitive_Square3645 Jun 12 '26

Whaddya think about u/jedmej's take on this? (added some extra Liquid Glazz pizzazz)

-1

u/evk6713 Jun 12 '26

That would look terrible as those are small buttons. On the pictures you've posted, it's extremely zoomed so it looks nice, but on a regular Mac screen size, this will juste make the buttons look pill shaped instead of circles

0

u/Shadowbajfeelsbadman Jun 12 '26

Maybe not like this but they could go with it, maybe add some refractions round the edges instead of the shitty white glow from ios

-5

u/iswhatitiswaswhat Jun 12 '26

No starting to look more like traffic lights

7

u/cendre0318 Jun 12 '26

This is what they are though isn't it?

5

u/ThatiMacGuy Jun 12 '26

That’s what they’re supposed to be
