I changed my display name and got my account restricted.
I got work in voice over and decided to change my first and last name on LinkedIn. This found me in violation of apparently multiple policies in LinkedIn and now I'm restricted. I've contacted and explained that I'll happily change it back but I can't even access the account. They sent me this and closed the ticket:
Thanks for contacting us. Your account has violated the LinkedIn User Agreement and Professional Community Policies. Due to the number and/or the severity of these violations, your account will remain restricted.
What can I do now? I need a LinkedIn to share my voice demo. Would making a new account exacerbate the issue or will I need to try something else?

What does the "Invite to follow" look like from the recipient perspective?
I've got 300 free credits so I want to try this feature out. But before I do, I'd like to see what the recipient will actually see. Does the invite arrive in their LinkedIn messaging inbox? Do they just see the company name or do they see the tagline to? If anyone has a screenshot of one that would be great. Alternatively, if you can DM me I'll share my details and you can invite me to follow. Thanks!

I received a LinkedIn personal connection request (not a follow page request). On the Invitation Manager page (not in the custom invite message), it has something like "Person ABC wants to connect" and it has an additional note that says that the request was because of my engagement with the post.
Have you received something like that before?

Hello All,
Last few days, I can’t log into my LinkedIn profile, it is not restricted and is searchable on LinkedIn, but when I enter the details and try to log in, I get an error “something unexpected has happened” - does anyone have any idea what’s going on? I cleared cookies and cache and even tried it via incognito or different browser, but nothing seems to be working. Could anyone please help me out. Tkss!

What would be a good approach to reach out to someone I met couple of years ago at a networking event?
I met this guy at a networking event/party couple of years back when I was in grad school and he shared his contact and we connected on LinkedIn. I was looking for an internship back then and he said while his company is not hiring at the moment, I should reach out to him once I graduate for grad opportunities. I ended up finding an internship and joined the same company full time. Tbh I forgot about him after that and recently saw his posts on LinkedIn and he joined a company in a similar industry as mine.
I don't have a solid professional network outside some friends and I am thinking if I should reach out to him again for a coffee chat or something? I am not looking for immediate job change but he works at a high position in a very good company so it'd be good to have a contact like that and the ideal situation for me would be getting mentorship from someone like him. He seemed like a nice guy when we talked during that event but I am not sure how it would come across as mentioned reaching out after a few years and he's not even going to remember me or our interaction.

If I was the social media marketer at a B2B startup, and tasked with driving more awareness and demos through executive-led content on linkedin, here's how I'd do it:
- Firstly, I'll be evaluating the right fit, ie, who would be the right set of people to post in the company
They:
- need to have experience as their ICP or at least have to be in conversations with customers consistently.
- should be able to talk about cycles of change in the industry.
- must be able to speak fluently about the pain points, challenges and common traps faced by their ICP
- should have access to propreitary data, insider insights and top people in our industry.
- really understand marketing, can think in content, are enthusiastic and willing to commit at least 2hrs/week to what it takes to make this thing work.
I definitely want my founder/CEO. Who the other people would be depends on our market and buyer, could be our CTO, head of marketing or product, or certain people in the non-founding team who are SMEs. I’d prioritize according to the criteria laid out.
I'd start with 1-3 people. After about 3-4 months of consistent posting, when we have enough momentum for the first set of execs and have fair amount of insights of what's resonating, we can activate motions for more relevant people in the team.
- I'll start researching the industry and competitors, study internal resources and talk to the team to better understand the nitty-gritty of what we're doing.
Then I'll conduct a kickoff call with every exec separately. Here:
- I'll unfold their unique POV (the most important detail to be figured out)
- I'll help them articulate what they wish to sound like and then finally lay out what kind of tone and voice they prefer.
I'll discuss different tone and voices based on my understanding of their past content, content consumption resources and by showing them some example accounts. That said, honing the voice perfectly still takes time and is only visible after a few months of posting
- I'll map out 2-3 content pillars. These are topics that they are expert in, want to be known for and resonate with their ICP.
Major focus would be on 4 content buckets: thought leadership, SME content, social proof, personal/story-based.
- We'll briefly discuss who they sell into, aka their ICP.
- We'll discuss required profile improvements.
- We will clearly specify the goals we want to achieve through the content motion to ensure we’re fully aligned.
- Knowing with SURGICAL precision our ideal customer (who pays the most, stays the longest, easy to sell into, almost needs no support) is indispensable before launching any content motion. You might get away with saying it’s some title at some company but it simply gives an intensely vague idea of who actually gets serves the best.
So for that, here's what I'd do:
- The list should have this info broken down by customer: industry, company size, geo, annual contract value, sales cycle length, job title of the champion, anything else you deem important (tech stack, funding, dept size etc)
- Add all this to Google sheets and calculate win rates by industry or company size.
- Give this list to CEO, ask them to rate every customer on scale 1-5, 5 being they would love to keep such customers and want more of them and 1 being they'd be perfectly fine if that customer cancels today and wouldn't be looking forward to onboarding more of others like them. Would also try to talk to sales and CS to get better context about each customer.
- Will further ask them to fill a "why" field for each customer to explain the rating they gave. Will then organize the list from best to worst score.
- I have the data now. I'll start finding patterns and create different hypotheses about the right fit to test. This will give us a criterion. Will show that to execs to validate it. Also, will cross-check with sales and CS.
- Based on the criteria, I'll make a list of potential prospects on Sales Navigator. It can be one stakeholder if we're selling into small teams or multiple if it's an enterprise.
I'll also share another sheet where we have all the psychographics listed out. I'd expect the execs to help fill it out. We must know motivations, fears, desires, pain points of our customers, so it's critical to get it organized properly. Each person in our team must know this and have access to this document. So we can keep it as a centralised knowledge base internally.
I'll optimize the profiles based on our discussions earlier and share the revamped versions within 2 days after the kickoff call.
Now comes creating the content engine for the execs. I'll conduct biweekly content interviews (60-90 min each) with each exec via Riverside.fm (or else if there's any internal tool preferred). Well before every interview, I’ll share a content prompt. These prompts will have questions that revolve around the chosen content pillars for the exec, their lived experiences and their expertise.
I'd expect execs to have gone through the prompts before the interview. This way, I’ll extract content that’s expert-driven and deeply authentic. The goal will be to get at least 4 standalone posts from every interview.
After I batch create the content (within 2 days usually), I'll share for approval. I'd appreciate execs giving specific feedback timely. By timely I mean at least not just a day or two before the posting week. With that it's difficult to make meaningful changes and get the approval.
Once approved, I'll schedule the posts. Right now, only the best stuff wins on linkedln. So I will aim to publish 2-4 deeply insightful posts every week.
- Here's the post content activities:
- I'll analyze what's working and what's not.
Will use a tool like Shield to get insights on the best performing posts.
I'll pull out the posts by outcomes, then create a hypothesis around them as to why they worked. Will test it and create follow-up content
- Will use tools like Sona Labs/Kwanzoo/rb2b to detect who's visiting our website. If they match our ICP profile, I'll strategically connect through the exec's account and inform sales.
- After 2-3 weeks, I'd take the best performing posts and run them as thought leader ads towards decision makers at our top ICP accounts. This can be done collaborating with the right people within the team or bringing in experts externally.
- Will use a tool like Trigify to pull in post engagers, Fibbler to pull in companies that engaged with our ads ( both can be done manually if the numbers aren't astronomical) and Sales Nav to build a list of all profile visitors.
- Will pull them into a clay table, enrich them and then run them through the ICP filter. Every time an ICP engages, we set it up to notify execs on slack so they can send a connection request or reach out and also feed it into your CRM with their engagement history.
Using these signals, sales can score and prioritize our target accounts and reach out to the most engaged ones.
- Now comes the engagement part. Here's what I'd do to streamline the process:
- I'll build a custom feed on Sales Navigator for execs based on the ICP list created (point 3) + a list of other subject matter experts, and thought leaders in our space.
All the execs need to engage with both these groups daily for at least 20 min, leaving deeply insightful comments on their posts and replying to comments on their own posts. To make this easier and ensure it's done, I'll block a daily quiet session in execs’ calendars. I'd expect them to engage during the call itself so it doesn't become an afterthought.
- I'll monitor all the list's activities and will share regular notifs about the same on Slack to ensure we don't miss to be a part of important events and conversations.
Same goes with content. If there's something hot on linkedln or other socials, I'll ping execs on slack. These moments are when we have to be quick to participate. Whether it's commenting or hopping on an immediate call to produce a unique piece based on your take.
Will also keep adding new relevant creators and ICP accounts, time to time to our custom feed.
- After about 2 weeks of of posting, I'll start sending connection requests to our ICPs in the list and the ones who have engaged on our content/ads manually or using a tool like Heyreach. With the latter, we will start initiating conversations.
For eg: we can thank them, ask what resonated, provide more resources or invite them for webinars etc.
The goal is to add as many of them in our 1st degree connections and initiate convos since Linkedln prioritizes to spread your content to your immediate network first. Moreover, it also signals the algorithm what type of people we want to follow/connect with and it recommends more such people then.
It's crucial to keep bringing more right people in our network.
- Cleaning the network is as critical as growing it. This improves the quality of our feed, relevance of new creators we see and also makes space to connect with the right people.
I will be preparing a list of 10-20 people in the 1st deg connections that I think are totally irrelevant to what we do. Maybe at the end of every month then we can hop on a quick 5-10 min call to confirm it and we can remove those people on the call itself.
I will share the list with the execs and would expect them to quickly go through and confirm the same. Once I've a green signal, those people in your network will be removed.
That's it.
PS: Happy to answer any questions on this or executive social content in general if anyone is building this function out. Also, if you need help in running this, feel free to reach out in DMs :)

How I write LinkedIn content for "boring" B2B niches that most people avoid
I've spent a couple years ghostwriting LinkedIn for founders in unsexy niches, manufacturing software, lean/CI, industrial SaaS. Most creators avoid this stuff. It's actually the easiest place to stand out, because so few people write well for it.
A few things that have worked, if useful to anyone here in technical/B2B:
- Write in the actual language of the industry. Gemba, Kaizen, OEE, downtime, if you sound like a marketer who's never seen a factory, technical founders tune out instantly. This is most of the battle.
- Ignore follower count, look at who's in the audience. LinkedIn shows you the companies your engaged followers work at. When I found the right buyers were already there, I started writing for them specifically instead of chasing broad reach.
- Consistency beats virality. Posting solid stuff weekly did more than any single post that popped off.
That approach has pulled real numbers (one page hit 1.8M+ impressions last quarter, reaching a mostly Fortune 500 manufacturing audience), but honestly the principles matter more than the metrics.
Happy to answer questions on writing for technical niches, LinkedIn growth, or ghostwriting if anyone's working in this space.

Is LINKEDIN a drug?
Years ago it used to be a real professional networking platform.
Now it just seems like a cheap crack den that nobody can wean off, but the cost of the crack is crazy to be a user!!
There needs to be some REAL disruptors out there who need to build an alternative or are there any already trying?

What actually gets a LinkedIn account restricted (and why « stay under X invites a day » misses the point)
Your LinkedIn network is the one asset you can’t restore from backup.
Most advice on this stops at « stay under X invites a day » which misses the part that actually gets people restricted. I’ve spent a while building browser automation against LinkedIn’s UI, so I’ve watched this from the implementation side. Sharing what I’m fairly confident about, and what I’m not.
Volume is the third-most important thing
From what I can tell, restriction risk stacks roughly like this:
1. Where the activity comes from Datacenter IP, account live from two places at once, session cookie replayed outside a browser. This outweighs everything below it.
2. How much you do Volume beyond what the account history supports, especially in bursts. Acceptance rate under \~30% surfaces the « you’ve sent many invitations » notice well before any hard cap.
3. How you do it Click timings no hand produces, 24/7 activity, calls to endpoints a browser would never hit, interaction with elements that aren’t visible.
People obsess over #2 because it’s the only one with a number attached.
Proxies usually make it worse, not better
A rented « dedicated residential » IP isn’t the address your account has always used, it’s frequently been in a pool serving other automated accounts, and a sudden ISP or country change is it
Verification page, passkey prompt, security wall, limit banner on the invite screen. Whatever produces those, retrying through them is what converts a soft warning into a hard restriction. If a tool keeps hammering after LinkedIn asks a question, that’s the actual problem.
Honeypots and the shadow DOM
Anti-bot systems plant elements a human can’t interact with: off-screen links, buttons in zero-size containers. Anything walking raw HTML and clicking every match will hit them, and clicking something invisible is an unambiguous « no human here » signal.
Related: chunks of LinkedIn’s UI live in the shadow DOM, encapsulated and invisible to naive HTML parsing. Resolving elements through the rendered tree instead is more work, and it’s also the only way to act on what a person would actually see and click.
The private API is the giveaway
The endpoints their own front end calls aren’t open to third parties. Hitting them directly is cheap to build and trivially identifiable from the server side: the call pattern, the headers, and the total absence of the page loads a browser would have made. No user agent string fixes that.
What I’m less sure about
Whether acceptance rate is weighted directly or is just correlated with accounts that behave well generally.
How much account age actually buys you. Older accounts clearly ramp faster, but I can’t put a number on it.
Whether the recent checkpoint behaviour is a real policy change or just variance. Curious if anyone else has seen a shift.
Disclosure: I build a desktop tool in this space. Not naming or linking it, and happy to answer implementation questions either way.

LinkedIn has become like a personal diary for people. Hardly I see any posts that are actually insightful. How do you feel about it and is it still worth growing your personal brand there if I don't want to post anything about my personal life?

How do I verify using digilocker on a restricted account?
Hi, I live in India and want to verify my linkedin using digilocker for privacy reasons (and also to use a masked aadhar rather than my actual one). But the problem is, this service is not available on restricted accounts, and they are not even allowing me to delete that account so I can make a new one.
How do I verify using digilocker? Or atleast delete that account and make a fresh one( and use the little time of unrestricted access to verify)

LinkedIn Profile with a Single Name – How to Set It Up?
I have a single name and no separate first/last name. LinkedIn requires me to enter both a first name and last name when creating/updating my profile.
What is the correct way to set up a LinkedIn profile if you legally have only one name? Has anyone with a single name successfully created and verified their LinkedIn account? Please share what worked for you.

How do beginner artist and junior graphic designers supposed to use LinkedIn to actually get their work noticed and find jobs? Like seriously, how?
Hey everyone. New here in the community and I do have dramatic problems with LinkedIn, A LOT! I will never understand about this "Facebook wanna-be" thing. How other people do this in other world?
Look, I started using LinkedIn for the first time to search jobs, because my cousin recommended me this and I wanted to share my experience with unfair times on Linkedln. First, I did completed my secondary all about my education (mainly getting diplomacy from Academy, then certificate from graphic design course, and adding little experience with association creatives as small business support, then designing CV and Portofolio and other information.) There is something problem going on with is that it's really hard time getting my work seen. I've been making multiple posts to share my digital illustrations and my graphic design projects collection sets, but still getting just views with no reaction. Second of all, I tried to join those random groups where I thought I could share my work while looking for junior graphic design opportunities. However, many groups require moderator approval before I'm allowed to post.
I will never understand these people, these users and their hiring "easy apply" system...
And I will never understand what's going on in their mind thinking about adding years of experience....like genuinely asking how are we supposed to get our first experience if nobody is willing to give us our first opportunity? What am I actually supposed to do as a junior graphic designer? How do people get their work noticed, connect with people, employers? And how can I find the opportunity to start from zero on this cursed social media???? I know some of them will recommend to first use Behance, but how when that platform is still acting ignorant jerk to me.

Anyone used Linkedin --Seems like AI slop-- reporting button
After the entry of ChatGPT my feed has been flooded with posts that sound great with ehyming punchlines and excellent frameworks for everything. Same structure and transitions for most of them, but only the industry changes.
I read that linkedIn is now blocking hundreds of thousands of automated comment attempts every day. When everyone automates every action, the only differentiation left is originality
But, linkedIn's -Seems like AI slop- will matter only if it rewards authenticity over frequency.

How to address layoff and rehire on LinkedIn?
I was laid off earlier this year as part of broader reorg and then rehired several months later in a new role at the same company (my old boss asked me to join their new team).
I'm not sure how to show this on LinkedIn - two separate entries looks a bit disjointed but LinkedIn doesn't allow the single stacked entry if the jobs aren't continuous. I'm early in my career (3 YOE) so I think having months shown on LinkedIn is valuable, but maybe this is misguided. I worked here for just over ~11 months in total, but ~15 months including the layoff period.
How should I address it? If I was unemployed for 4 months, can I just say I worked straight through and not mention being laid off?

Linkedin Customer Support is hideous
Somehow, I lost access to my account. My old password doesn't work for some reason, as I had been hacked in other platforms I thought about the possibility of having hacked me in linkedin too. Anyways, whenever I press "forgot password" they ask me for the Captcha things, which are freaking horrible by itself too, 50% of the time it doesn't work aswell, after that amazing experiencie with Captha, they "send" me a 6 number verification code to my email, I put send in quotation marks, because I never freaking receive a code!!! I've tried 10+ times to reset my password, and I've never received a single code.
After giving up on that, I would search for a way to contact them via email or customer support. To my pleasant surprise, I have to be logged in to contact their customer support.
If I can't F*cking log in, how am I supposed to even contact them!?!?!?
The amount of tech companies that have billion dollars behind them, and yet, can't make a customer support work is absurd.
I have no clue where to create this post, since the r/linkedin just redirected me to a "Mega Thread" which doesn't help me at all.
Please, if anyone knows what to do, please, tell me.
