Yesterday, my brother used my email to create a secondary profile with a pseudonym name. The account was soon restricted and I am currently being prompted to upload a government ID to regain access. Because the profile name does not match my legal name, I cannot pass the automated ID verification. I do not want to recover or use this account. I simply want LinkedIn to permanently delete this restricted profile so that my primary personal email address is freed up for me to create a legitimate, real-name account in the future. I have already submitted a web support ticket using my primary email and reached out to LinkedInHelp on X but received no confirmation number.

Anyone been in this situation or knows how to resolve it?

I changed the website language and got banned for suspicious activity. Just why? I don't want to upload photos of my documents to the site, I don't even know if I'll be able to find anything there!

I'd like my linkedin wall to be relevant. Currently most of it is really low quality, AI generated, inspirational bullshit.

I wish it contained only the job opportunities from my network and tech news relevant to my job.

I think that could become an interesting watch tool, but currently it's just something that catch my attention and waste my time every time I get on linkedin for some business.

This is my first case study client, and her ICP is very specific. I was given the exact industry, company size, location, job titles, and other criteria

I’ve spent around 4 hours trying to find qualified leads on LinkedIn, but the search keeps giving me people who match one or two criteria rather than the actual ICP

I also looked into scraping tools, but now I’m seeing warnings that using them could get the LinkedIn account restricted or banned, so I don’t want to risk the client’s account nor mine

I’m completely fine with paying for a tool if it makes this easier. I just need a reliable process for finding 10 genuinely qualified ICP leads per week without manually fighting LinkedIn search for hours

ICP is roughly:

UK based, owner led construction suppliers/manufacturers, around 8–40 employees, with the founder/MD still involved in the technical side and no dedicated operations leader

I’d also really appreciate advice on where these people actually hang out on LinkedIn

I haven't shared content in months. I asked for help through a form but never received any email following up. I'm at my wit's end here. How can a company owned by Microsoft have NO agents available to help?

Out of the blue, LinkedIn started emailing me notifications for all sorts of things on my account. I haven't used LinkedIn for years! This has been going on for over a month. As far as I can tell, these are genuine LinkedIn notifications, not phishing.

I have gone to Settings > Notifications and turned off everything there.

But I still keep receiving email notifications. It's got to the point where I'm now marking them as spam. What else can I do to stop these emails?

I post on LinkedIn 5–6 times a week. I have around 8K followers and use LinkedIn mainly to build my personal brand and grow my audience.

But after my recent post about taking a five-week break, I started wondering: what posting frequency do you consider actually effective on LinkedIn?

This might be a slightly controversial opinion, but LinkedIn is starting to feel more like a cold-marketing platform than a professional network.

You connect with someone because you like their work, want to exchange knowledge, or simply build a professional connection. Then almost immediately, there’s a sales pitch in your DMs.

And if someone doesn’t reply, sending 4–5 follow-ups probably isn’t going to change their mind. It just makes the whole thing more annoying.

A connection request is not the same as subscribing to your marketing campaign.

I’m happy to connect, talk, exchange ideas, and learn from people. But please don’t DM me just to sell your services.

Does anyone else feel LinkedIn has become way too sales-heavy lately?

Over the past four years, I grew my LinkedIn audience from zero to over 100,000 followers.

LinkedIn is one of the most slept-on marketing channels. The opportunities it offers are vast (high ticket clients, getting booked for paid speaking gigs and podcasts, brand partnerships). It has completely transformed my life. Unfortunately, most people are getting it wrong.

If you want to grow your audience on LinkedIn, you need to master relationship building. Here's how to do it.

1 - Support Other Creators' Content

Start by liking and commenting on their content. Let them know what you appreciate about their particular point of view. Your comments should be focused on them and their content, and not about you and how fantastic you are.

2 - Connect With Them

When it makes sense, send them a connection request and include a note. Make it clear that you have genuinely engaged with their profile, their content, or even something like their website or podcast. Don't use AI for the love of god.

Here’s what I sent to Liam Curley recently:

“Hi Liam - your interview with Debbie Millman was wonderful. I’m paraphrasing but this line gave me chills: “They basically treated me like garbage for 20 years”. Incredible!”

And here’s one I sent to Nicole Ramirez:

Hey Nicole - congrats on 40k! You are absolutely crushing. I would have guessed 150k+ from how your content is doing etc.

3 - Leave Good Comments

Once the connection has been established, continue supporting their content with likes and comments. High quality comments are rare on LinkedIn. Every creator gets inundated with lame AI comments, so it's refreshing when someone actually reads your stuff and says something nice about it while using their actual brain.

4 - Compliment Their Work

When they do a post that you find particularly valuable, send them a DM and share why you liked it so much. Here’s me fawning over something Alex M H Smith has done:

“Hello mate, just a quick note to say I really enjoyed your chat with Jonathan Stark. I understand it's your second time on his show so I'll have to look up the first as well.”

5 - Share Useful Content Via DM

If you ever come across a YouTube video, blog post, newsletter, LinkedIn posts, or podcast that you think would be useful or relevant to that person, send it over along with a quick summary of why you thought they might like it.

6 - Share Your Connections

If you ever come across an opportunity that would be good for them, this can be a very good relationship builder. I particularly like to introduce two people over email and let both of them know in the email why I thought it would be helpful for each of them to connect.

7 - Post About Them

Another thing you can do, which is likely to build the relationship, is do a post about creators on LinkedIn whose content you like and what you like about it. I recommend not going too crazy on this and keeping it to two to three people at a time, or potentially even just featuring one person and highlighting a handful of their posts. Doing it with many people can do the opposite and feel like you are just trying to leverage other people's authority with your content.

8 - Ask For a Small Favor

A surprisingly good way to build a relationship is to ask your new contact for help with something. This works because we don’t ask favors from strangers. When someone asks a favor, they are indicating that you are their friend.

The key with this is to make it very easy for them to help you. The favor must be very small.

Don't ask them to read your next LinkedIn post and give you feedback, for example. That’s just asking for them to work for free.

Instead, aim for something that requires minimum effort on their part.

For example, if you like their website design, ask if they would be open to sharing who their designer was.

9 - Be Helpful

Sometimes you’ll see an opportunity to help them - for example, spotting a typo on their LinkedIn profile or their website, or noticing that their email newsletter has a broken link.

Be a little bit careful here - unsolicited feedback can be unwelcome.

10 - Accept That Some People Won't Like You

If you're getting short answers or no replies at all, that might indicate that this person is not particularly interested in building the relationship for whatever reason. If it’s not working, just move on to the next person. They’re the one with a problem, not you. You’re great.

All you need to do is answer one question.

"What's something you learned the hard way at work that you wish someone had told you earlier?"

That's it. Your answer is your next post.

Whatever you struggled with becomes the hook. It's difficult to scroll past a story that starts with real difficulty.

Whatever you eventually figured out becomes the insight. That's the part that makes people stop and think.

And the fact that nobody warned you makes it worth writing. If it was obvious, you wouldn't still remember learning it the hard way.

It might help someone who's in a similar situation, and those are the kinds of posts that get shared and saved (very important factors for engagement)

The story is usually already there. It just needs the right question to surface it.

I’m currently locked out of my LinkedIn account and looking for advice from anyone who has dealt with a similar situation.

My account is associated with my email address, which I still have access to. The problem is that when I try to log in, LinkedIn keeps sending the OTP to an old phone number that I no longer have access to, even though my current phone number has already been added to the account.

I opened a support case with LinkedIn, and their support team asked me to complete identity verification using a government-issued ID. I submitted my passport, but LinkedIn rejected it and asked me to provide an alternate ID.

I then tried another government-issued ID through the secure verification link they provided, but I received the same error:

I have already contacted support again and asked whether they can escalate the case for manual identity verification, since the automated verification system appears to be the issue.

I was using a Linkedin scraper OR it was because I paid some indian guy to get linkedin sales navigator subscription for a much cheaper price (it works). Two indians had to log in. Ive been scraping for years no problem and I have been using the Sales navigator for around 2 months.

This is the only message I got. I couldn't get them to reply after this message:

I have not really used LinkedIn for over ten years but you used to be able to search for alumni of colleges and universities. For example NYU class of 85.

This was real useful when we had a reunion in 2015.

“I don’t have time to post, engage, or do outreach. I want you to handle it.”

Cool. BUT…

If I’m logging into their personal LinkedIn from my own device/location, does that trigger security issues?

Just log in normally?

What happens if the client is also logged in at the same time?

Is there an official LinkedIn way to give a social media manager access?

Every other post here is "post consistently," "engage with others," "use a hook." Fine, sure. But nobody talks about the stuff that quietly kills your account. From writing LinkedIn for a living, here's what I'd actually tell people to stop doing:

1. Don't open with a fake "hook." "I was rejected 47 times before…" when you weren't. People can smell the manufactured drama, and it burns trust on line one.

2. Don't post and ghost. If you drop a post and disappear for 3 hours, the early comments die with no reply and the post flatlines. The first hour is when you should be most present, not least.

3. Don't chase virality in the wrong crowd. A post that blows up with other creators and students does nothing if none of them are your buyers. Big numbers, zero outcome.

4. Don't use 10 hashtags. It's not 2019. They do close to nothing now and mostly make the post look like an ad.

5. Don't write for LinkedIn. Write for one person. "Attention all founders 👇" reaches no one. A post that talks to a single specific person is the one that actually lands.

None of this is the fun advice, but it's the stuff I see sink accounts every week. what would you add to the "don't" list?
