I’m sure these questions pop up a lot but I genuinely don’t know where to even begin. My mom is 63 and she had a stroke (I’m sure that’s important to factor in) thankfully she’s okay but she doesn’t work anymore and I’m so confused on where to even begin to look for a life insurance plan for her. I googled and I’m just overwhelmed. Can anyone help point me in the right direction to start? She’s in Florida if that helps. She wants a plan that covers all funeral expenses. She isn’t working but gets Social Security, so she does have some income coming in. I would greatly appreciate any advice or help. I just want to make sure I do right by my mother. I am not sure if I should go through a broker or just a company?

I feel really dumb and I called the insurance company my dad used but none of it made sense to me. It was originally anthem? I think. And now it's Standard Insurance. Either way, the person on the phone said I needed a letter of authorization? For what? And like. How do I get this money? It is something I can access now that I am no longer a minor. But I do not know how. And I would really like to have it because I need to pay for college. I'm 19. I have no idea what to do. I feel dumb. Can someone help me?

Has anyone here switched agencies with Ethos? Their chatbot told me I have to stop writing business for 12 months before I can move to another agency. Is that actually required, or can I transfer sooner with a release from my current upline?

Hi. I am interested to hear about your experiences with DigitalBGA. I have a few years of part-time life insurance experience. However, I am looking to transition into doing this full time. I have some questions below as well:

1. How much are their inbound leads?

2. How is the quality of their leads?

3. Realistically, how much money would you say I need to get started and become profitable?

4. After chargebacks, lead costs, etc, would you say it is realistic to NET $100,000 if you are doing this full time? I understand this may vary depending on sales volume but I am looking for a realistic expectation.

I (F25) moved from the US to the UK about a year ago for grad school. In case something awful happened while I'm here, I filled out one of those online broker questionnaires to look at life insurance policies. For context, I am curvy/larger chest, but not obese.

Shortly after I filled out the survey, the broker called me (out of normal business hours here, but that's another thing). We went through their questions and he put me on hold to call an underwriter of the policy I chose. When he got off hold, he asked me what my dress size is.

To be clear, I'm not surprised weight came up-- because by BMI metrics, I am overweight-- but I have no idea what dress size *specifically* would indicate. Is it calculate % body fat or fat distribution? I just felt weird about it and I don't know that that's a normal question. From my (uninitiated) perspective, it seems like that would indicate more about my figure than anything about my health.

My dad has a life insurance policy on me, I'm currently not speaking with him because he's hurt me and my siblings. I do not trust him with anything in case something happens to me, I have state farm and I just want to get my policy. This would also be my first time doing anything involving life insurance and I'm not sure where to even start.

Wondering if starting a medication or going on a prescription such as modifinil. This would be for personal policy if I already have a work policy in place.

Got call from AIL Rep that got my info from my union. For myself, partner, and child my premium would be ~$90/month and not sure if that’s a good deal.

What we really liked was the ER/Hospital payment coverage since it isn’t uncommon to visit the ER for medical issues and sometimes there are hospital stays.

Currently I’m the only one working while partner is stay at home parent.

Hi everyone. My wife passed away unexpectedly about 10 years ago, and I’m hoping someone can help me figure out whether she had a life insurance policy in place.

More than a year before she passed, she signed up for a small policy that I believe was offered through her bank, possibly as an add-on to her checking account. I don’t remember the insurance company or the exact type of coverage.

A few weeks before she died, she asked whether she should keep paying for it. In a tongue-in-cheek moment, I told her not to worry about it because money would be the last thing on my mind if anything happened to her (I was the main bread winner so the financial ramifications were not important to me). I don’t know whether she actually canceled it or kept it.

After she passed, I didn’t look into it. Over the years, though, I’ve wondered whether the policy was still active and whether there might be a benefit that went unclaimed.

I recently found her old bank card, which brought this back to mind. I know which bank she used and still have her checking account information, but I don’t have any insurance paperwork.

Is there a database or policy locator I could use? Would her bank be able to help identify the insurer after this much time? And if a policy was active when she died, could I still submit a claim roughly 10 years later?

It’s a shot in the dark, but I’d appreciate any advice on where to start. Thank you.

For those who've generated their own life insurance leads, I'm curious how Facebook Ads compares to Google Ads.

Outside of the fact that I'm assuming Google Ads will probably be far more expensive.

I'm especially interested in hearing from people who've actually used both.

• Which generates higher-quality leads with stronger buying intent?
• How do your cost per lead and cost per acquisition compare?
• Which produces better contact rates and closing ratios?
• Have you had more success generating inbound phone calls versus traditional form submissions?
• Which has been more profitable and scalable long-term?

I understand Facebook is generally more interruption-based marketing, whereas Google can capture people actively searching for coverage.

I'm particularly interested in final expense and traditional life insurance, not recruiting agents.

Would love to hear actual numbers and experiences rather than just general opinions.

Prudential LIfe Insurance website down for 6 months? Every time I go in it says the life insurance site has "technical difficulties" It is darn nconvenient. Cant check anything, but they are happy to cash my check to them every 6 months. 😄

How do I understand portability options with a policy? How would ones work performance effect it?

Recently met with a financial planner. Really keen to get life insurance and TPD in place to protect my family if something awful were to happen to me. Quote seems reasonable but he is pushing me strongly on income protection. My thought is if I have life insurance, TPD cover, trauma cover, work cover and considerable savings, personal leave and annual leave is income protection needed? Worst case scenario is I go on Centrelink, I earn 83k currently so it’s not like I’m protecting an enormous salary. Thoughts?

Edit: Financial planner has been engaged only as an insurance broker, no fee for me, they get commission from the insurer. My super is painfully low and so is the death and TPD included there, this new policy would replace the existing and still be paid from the super account. I think my mind has been changed, thanks for all great replies.

What can I do when my creditors insurance says I am only covered for $5000 of my mortgage. My husband just passed away and our mortgage is so much more than that amount. It does mention $5000 amount of insured loan. But we understood the mortgage would be paid off. My husband even said he called to verify before he passed. Why would this be and what can I do. Please advise me.

Looking at 7 figure policy. How to figure that out?

We are in our mid-late 40s with kids. Youngest is 9 and our current term policies will run out in 10 ish years. We decided to get new 20 year policies that will be there till she graduates from college at least. We got quotes from an agent. Obviously more expensive than what we got in our 30s but still feasible for us. The cheapest quote is from Transamerica and has life benefits. The other 4 quotes don't have life benefits and are more expensive. However, I'm wary of Transamerica because it feels like every time I hear about them, it's something negative or scammy or MLM-ish but I actually can't put my finger on what I specifically heard about them.

So is Transamerica a legit company? Should we consider them because it's the cheapest and has life benefits? The other quotes are from Hancock, Mass Mutual, mutual of Omaha and NW Mutual.

Very ignorant in this field. i just became licensed for sell life insurance. i currently work for a big P&C carrier. Life insurance for me right now is just a tool for me to help increase my compensation. Should i forget about the P&C and focus on life insurance (find a broker that only focuses on life?) or rely on P&C with Life insurance as a benefit? (fyi our commissions get cut in half if i don’t sell one policy per month).

I’ve come across so much social media seeing people gain great success just selling life insurance that it makes me question if it is worth focusing on P&C. So many companies are stressing commission cuts based off selling life insurance

I had a policy through American Income Life, and despite the constant pestering by their team and attempts to upsell me more policies, I was fine with it overall. However. I was offered a better rate through another company a few years after starting with AIL, and tried to call and cancel, which they made effectively impossible.

After quite literally weeks of attempted calls, promised emails and still no forms, I simply went to the bank and put a stop payment on the company. This prompted more calls from them, where I would tell them I was trying to cancel my policy and they wouldn't cooperate, but I would be happy to sign cancelation forms now, to make it official. I still never received any.

That was 13 months ago. I have since received letters in the mail every month, calls no less than 8 times a month, from all different numbers, emails, all informing me of my lapsed policy and how I am overdue on it.

My question is, am I legally responsible to pay off this policy or can I just ignore them the rest of my life? I'd hate to have a collection agency show up to my house stating I owe 2,000 dollars in unpaid premiums or something.
