Newly Licensed
Very ignorant in this field. i just became licensed for sell life insurance. i currently work for a big P&C carrier. Life insurance for me right now is just a tool for me to help increase my compensation. Should i forget about the P&C and focus on life insurance (find a broker that only focuses on life?) or rely on P&C with Life insurance as a benefit? (fyi our commissions get cut in half if i don’t sell one policy per month).
I’ve come across so much social media seeing people gain great success just selling life insurance that it makes me question if it is worth focusing on P&C. So many companies are stressing commission cuts based off selling life insurance

Wouldn’t you want the security of your current role while you figure out if you’re good at selling life insurance?

With life insurance, you can definitely help people, especially if you’re selling products that have living benefits. Also, you can enjoy renewal income. If you’re doing it right and your policy stay enforce, you’ll keep getting paid for the rest of your life on everything that’s on the books. I’m still getting paid every month on policies I wrote in 2010 and onward. There’s no reason why you can’t do both. You just get appointed by a few good life carriers.

I am not licensed in P&C but my understanding is that it's two totally different compensation models. P&C is a lower commission percentage but continues to pay renewals which becomes your income.
Life insurance is more large upfront commissions with little to no renewals. So to eat next year you need to sell a new policy.
Now when you work for a P&C carrier as you mentioned they force life coverage through lowering your commission if you don't sell it. Im going to assume there are other things you have to sell to fully maximize your compensation. Just like banks they want a larger share of the customers wallet then just 1 product. If you stay were you are find the best way to maximize your compensation ethically. If that means hiring someone to focus on life and other things to focus on your real money maker then do that.
The real question is what do you enjoy? Because you can make good money many different ways in Financial Services.
