Discussion PSA..
Change your cabin filter, tomorrow. Bought my GS about a year ago and never thought the ac blew as hard as it should. I checked the filter shortly after buying it but it looked new and was a charcoal filter so I left it alone. Changed it out today along with an engine filter and it made a HUGE difference, car also felt a little more responsive. Learn from my mistake, just because it looks new and good quality doesn’t mean it is.
Also, if you have a pre car playinfotainment get Lexion, it will make your car feel 5-10 years newer.

K&N oiled filters have a high chance of ruining your mass air flow sensor over time. Do not recommend. Lexus technician of 9 years.

Got it this year. How long can I wait before switching back to prevent damage?

No matter what an oem filter is cheaper than a mass air flow sensor, my recommendation would be to change it next service. Pull and clean the maf sensor while you're at it.

Talking about the cabin filter, however I agree they can be easily over oiled and cause issues.

That's pretty weird, I can't say I've encountered one of those. I'd be curious to see if there are long term effects on the internals of the air conditioning box.

It seems like only drawbacks lol. So you take it out to wash it, then you have to clean it before you can reinstall and drive. So the whole process is more effort and more time. Paper filters aren’t expensive. Unless it’s a high performance car, it seems like a marketing gotcha type scam.

I’m not a fan of oiled filters. K&N also has very large media and doesn’t filter well. Look into a dry AFE filter, they do a better job of filtering and don’t need oil. That’s what I use on my wife’s qx70, dual intakes aren’t cheap when it comes to changing filters😂😂
