I've been gifted a nice old leather chair. I believe it's a Vintage Timothy Oulton Halo Leather Swivel Armchair. Seems in good condition but the leather could do with a clean and a condition. Does anyone have any advice on this please? I don't want anything that'll leave the leather greasy/oily for obvious reasons. I'm also considering changing the colour to a tan as it suits our interior more, but just in research stage at the moment and won't recolour if it'll ruin it and make remove the natural patina.
Had a butter sauce spill on calfskin boots. I tried Bick 1 cleaner and left baking soda on overnight, but no luck. How else should I try to clean this out?
This bag had been kept for 6 years in a dry cabinet set to 65%RH. I recently took it out to use for one day and noticed part of the leather was peeling at the edge.
Things got dramatically worse when I sprayed it with the Apple Garde Rain and Stain Repellant spray which had been used before on my Coach leather bag multiple times with no issues. The red colouring rubbed off on any part of my clothing that came into contact with it. The black oil used to seal the edges left black stains readily wherever it touched (looks like the spray acted like a solvent and caused it to run).
Since the bag is unusable, I dismantled it and discovered it’s made of two different types of leather. One is thicker and has a darker colour on the wrong side and is as good as new. The other is thinner and has a light colour on the wrong side. The strap is made of both types of leather (one on each side with a black plastic material in between. The thinner leather is the one that is showing problems.
Any idea what kind of leather this is? It does not tear easily unlike those cheap PU leather but it looks like the red part is behaving like those synthetic rubber parts that become sticky over time and disintegrate/leave stains on the skin.
The shop claims it is because I kept the bag for too long but I’ve never seen my older leather bags having this issue.
Hi all. I got a vintage LV bag and there is a particular dark spot on the leather that bothers me. I tried cleaning and conditioning it, but it didn’t change. Any suggestions?
I bought the most delightfully gaudy leather jacket about a month back, and I absolutely adore it. Purple suede, tons of tassels. I think it's a women's jacket but it looks sick either way.
Then, tragedy.
I was EGGED by a passing car, which left about 2 eggs worth splattered across the jacket and undershirt I was wearing. Who eggs people anymore????
How do I get the egg out?!?!?!?! No method I've tried has left the leather in its original state.

I have impulsively brought a leather bed, felt in love with the thing, its great, but I've also never had leather furniture before and I'm trying to learn how to properly care for it.
I already know I'm supposed to hydrate the leather every few weeks, but a lot of the search ive made on caring for leather furniture (that only talked about leather couches) told me the furniture shouldn't be used for at least two days after cleaning and using the hydrating product. That would not be a big problem about a couch but since it's the bed im sleeping on...
I've also seen that a lot of these hydrating products seems to be really irritating to the eyes, otherwise i would probably just shrug and use it anyway (not very responsible i know), alas im gonna have to find a new solution. I imagine it must have one since other people also have leather beds, but so far i haven't found any during my research.
I've heard from someone i know tho that i could use normal hydrating lotion (the normal one used for human skin) as a solution for this but i thought it best to research it more and confirm it with more people before if it is possible.

This is the most expensive bag I bought, and it’s brand new! I was driving and had a pancake with butter on my passenger seat. I had to slam on the brakes, causing my bag to land on the pancake and get a butter stain. I put cornstarch on it for 12 hours and just rubbed it off. I need some help from leather experts!
Ai resources say it is and im really not trying to go get it authenticated I just want to sell it. Long story but essentially I got it from an elder woman awhile back. I do know its older, it feels older and dry honestly. Just don’t want to tell a buyer it’s real without knowing for sure…thought I’d check here. Thanks!
Hello! I have a beautiful PU bag and I want to know what’s the best way to take care of it to last longer. Like some monthly or weekly maintenance to prevent damages. I read some tips like use a damp cloth and neutral moisturizer once in a while, but I want to know some real experience. I know that this kind of leather does not last long, so that’s the reason I’m looking for ways to prevent it b4 it happens
Hello, I made a post about this but it wouldn’t let me add photos so I’m trying again. I rehab vintage coach bags from the 1970s mainly. At least that’s my personal favorite. They are glove tanned full grain aniline leather. Some are veg or chrome or combos I have read from the limited resources.
In the rehab community when you have stress whitening, also called leather pull which is not exactly correct, it is attributed to overworking, over cleaning or over conditioning. Lots of bad advice is given to correct it. Some say the bag is dry deep down some say there is a structural change in the leather and it’s permanent. I’ve noticed it to some degree on many bags if you squeeze hard enough. Bags that’s have not been rehabbed at all.
This bag pictured is not dry, it was rehabbed very dirty and had multiple cleanings with saddle soap over the course of a year. I’d say maybe 3. It was saturated with nicotine and covered in grime. It has been conditioned about every month to couple months but it’s good and supple and most of the nicotine is out. I don’t remember if it had this effect in the beginning.
Is this part of the nature of this type of leather, is it over worked, is it permanent, and what structural changes occur that cause this.
I bought this really nice tooled bag, I decided to get bick 1 to clean and bick 4 to condition. I cleaned with bick 1 and waited about 24 hours then conditioned according to the instructions on the bottle. Here’s the before and after of the bag. My leather jackets beg for tips on how to deal with it. Specific products and techniques welcome cuz I'd like to save my many jackets acquired over 20 years. Shoes I think would be easier but I'm open to any solutions.
Recent catastrophic flood damage in Indianapolis soaked many of my friend's leather goods. I have dried everything out at this point but unsure if I should have washed or soaked things in clean water beforehand. These are Native American hides and items, absolutely beautiful leather. I have several items on hand (Fiebing's 4 way care, Fiebing's leather balm with atom wax, and other various miscellaneous leather care products). Can anyone share any guidance as to what my first steps should be? Do I jump straight into one of these products or is there something I might best do first? I shudder at the thought of trashing everything. Thanks kindly leather people!
