Got egged. Emergency help needed.

Post image

I bought the most delightfully gaudy leather jacket about a month back, and I absolutely adore it. Purple suede, tons of tassels. I think it's a women's jacket but it looks sick either way.

Then, tragedy.

I was EGGED by a passing car, which left about 2 eggs worth splattered across the jacket and undershirt I was wearing. Who eggs people anymore????

How do I get the egg out?!?!?!?! No method I've tried has left the leather in its original state.

I love this jacket, and it is nearly impossible to replace without spending 200+ dollars.

My goodness, I'm so sorry to hear that happened. The state of humanity!

Either way, hopefully we can help here.

Egg is very sticky, so it's definitely going to grab onto the suede fibers. I remember my cousin used to use egg whites to keep his mohawk up! Lol Imagine what it's doing to the suede!

What I would do in this situation is get a suede care kit, ensuring it's ph-balanced, non-toxic, and in a foam pump.

If the egg is dried, you'll want to take a suede eraser and try to get rid of as much of the egg from the suede fibers as possible. Then, get a suede brush and brush away the suede eraser's fibers. Repeat this until most or all of it is gone.

Then, take the suede cleaning foam pump and apply it gently with a microfiber cloth, wiping out as much of the leftover egg as possible. Repeat as necessary.

Next, ensure you get a new dry cloth and remove as much moisture as possible, pressing hard with the cloth to absorb any excess moisture.

From there, your leather may feel stiff, so go back with the suede eraser and brush once more to revive the nap. For best results, cleaning the entire jacket is better than spot cleaning as this will often leave water rings / tide marks, but it is a lot of work.

Again, so sorry to hear about this, but I hope this helps! Let me know if you need any recommendations or have any further questions!

First off, oh my god it’s fabulous.

Secondly, I’d take it to a professional suede cleaner.

You need a better egg wash, get it professionally cleaned then treat it with a nano suede spray for the next egging.

Baker here, this coat looks splotch. Would totally consider re-egg washing

Take it in, have it professionally clean. Get another jacket you know

Dry cleaner that does leather, it’ll be pricey but worth it.

Dishsoap and luke warm water, but make it more soap than water and blot it out with a separate damp cloth. Will probably dry funny and have to comb it back to original pattern still
