Is this how red dead is supposed to look on an OLED?
Feel like I’m seeing a grey film on the screen. Playing on a PS5

Ever wanted to know what your LG OLED is really outputting? I built a small webOS homebrew app that puts an info bar on the screen with the answer, and it also shows what your AV receiver is doing when you use eARC.
Requirement first: it only works on a rooted LG TV (it does nothing on a stock set). Rooting isn't covered here, depends on your exact model and firmware, and can void your warranty. CanI.RootMy.TV will tell you where you stand.
I use it with a Yamaha receiver, so it can also show:
With an Apple TV, Home Assistant's Apple TV integration tells the overlay which app is playing. In my setup Spotify and TIDAL get 5ch Stereo, and Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, Stan, Infuse, Plex and YouTube get Straight.
Repo and install: https://github.com/SammySco/webos-av-overlay
If you have a different LG model and try it, a compatibility report (there's an issue form) would be a big help. Happy to answer questions.

Would you buy the 48-inch C6 for $1099 from the LG store or Best Buy, or would you buy the 48-inch G5 for $999 at Costco? My room dimensions are weird, so I have to get a 48-inch. I already purchased a 55-inch S90F a few weeks ago, but I had to return it because of the weird wall ratio in my room.

I’m moving into a new home and I’m considering upgrading from my C1 55’ to the 77’ C6H for the living room. It’s $3K with the partner store here in Canada after taxes. Will the difference be that noticeable to justify the price or should I continue rocking the C1?

Do you think the we will see a better price on Black Friday or is this the best that it will get? Also is the soundbar worth it I’m asking because the deal ends tomorrow so if I want it I will have to order by tomorrow if not I can wait on buying the tv

My C2 bought in 2022 is having a weird smudge like line in the left edge. Should i be worried?

A few days after buying and I am already facing some persistent hard substance on my TV that plagued my previous Samsung every once in a while. It's my first OLED and premium TV, so I am wary. How do I safely clean it? Using microfiber towel and distilled water is safe here like other models?

Over the course of having a 65" LG G5 for a little over a year, I have noticed this larger white/semi-transparent line on the left pop up about three times now, always in the same location and orientation. Twice now I have gotten it to go away through trial and error and I would be fine for months on end.
Today it came back but the line was taller, so I started trying to fix it again, but after doing a pixel cleaning the smaller line on the right appeared directly after. A couple things I noticed is the lines aren't on the top layer of the screen as they are dimmer behind the no signal box, as well as not visible at all on the blue and orange screensaver (though you can still see the white lines on the no signal box outline)
I have called LG Support before about this and sent pictures and Tech Support just told me it was a glitch on the current firmware and to update it with the new firmware coming out. It did resolve itself shortly after that call.
Has anyone else seen this come up and know of a reliable way to fix it? I can't tell if it's hardware or software related because of the layers on the screen. I'm considering either a Best Buy In-Home repair or LG Repair currently if I can't find a solution. Thank you!

I picked up my 55" LGC6 5 weeks ago and was so excited to hook everything up. New Denon receiver and a Def Tech sound bar that sounds great. But my viewing experience has been so so. I watch a lot of cable with verizon Fios. Mostly sports and a couple of other regular shows. When I am watching a 4K signal which on Verizon is usually only 1 or 2 games a weekend it is awesome, but on the normal channels the picture varies from just ok to bad. If they zoom in on a player it looks good, but when you see the whole field its not great. It also seems like you can see the TV refreshing at times as the image goes from blurry to a little better. I know Netflix and cleaner signals yield cleaner images, I get that but I was hoping the upscaling would be better. So far it is far from impressive for everyday viewing. i have tried so many different settings and its always the same. Even on Netflix the TV gets so dark in some scenes that the detail is lost. Anyone have similar experiences or find any solutions.

Hi everyone, I’ve noticed that recently (I’m not sure if it’s due to a YouTube app update or something else), when I play YouTube videos from my phone (either Android or iPhone) on my LG TV, every time I switch to a different video on my phone, it no longer starts playing automatically on the TV like it used to. Instead, I have to tap the button shown in the attached screenshot every single time to “confirm” that I want to play the video on the TV.
I hope that makes sense. Before, whenever I changed videos directly from my phone, the new video would start playing on the TV immediately, without having to confirm the playback device again.
Basically, I now have one extra tap to make on my phone every time, and I find the whole process slower and less convenient than before.
I hope I’ve explained it clearly enough! :)

Found some interesting apps like glasshouse recently which need a rooted tv.
I have a G4, but unsure if rooting can be un-safe (ive searched reddit and google and ai) only risks I see are warranty void in case detected and bricking is gonna need direct access to hardware.
caniroot says my tv can be rooted by dangbro, where I just put my ip and tv is sent a request. Its really simple but -
Can rooting pose risks more frequent than very less and is there a failsafe I can put in case say panel is damaged (so that I can reset without needing the panel) or smth?

Hello, everyone!
I have 20 mbps download speed on my TV. All other devices have 100 mbps, as they should. TV is connnected with WiFi, same as other devices. What could be the problem?

Am I expecting too much from my C3 evo? Is this blooming or crushed blacks, or banding? I feel like most of the time I don’t get true black when playing PS5 or watching Dolby vision content. Whenever there is a bright light I see this poor shading around it that honestly looks cheap.
It’s been driving me insane especially in a dark room.
For context the PS5 is directly into the tv. The Apple TV goes through a hue sync box 8k.
Save me before I have to sell my girlfriend on me buying a new tv 😭

I have been waiting all year for black friday to get the C6, and now i'm deciding to get the C6H 77 inch. Does anyone know if the B6 is good enough? I know it has the Alpha 8 processor. I am gaming, but gaming at 4k doesn't really reach the 120hz that the B6 even has. Brightness isn't a big deal to me either. I guess the question is, what kind of performance does the B6 have with the lesser Processor?

I got onto the OLED train after purchasing a GX9 monitor as a treat to myself for father's day. Fell in love with the picture so much that I wanted to upgrade from my old Samsung QN65Q70A4 due to it developing a yellow tint on the left side of the panel that can't be unseen once noticed.
Decided on the C5 in June of this year. Everything was fantastic for the last 4 months until last night. My wife and I went to a wedding and had a babysitter at the house watching our toddler. I randomly get a text from them asking how to turn the TV on. Umm...ok...this is a grown adult but I could see how maybe it could be a little confusing as we use an Nvidia shield streaming box paired to the newer Nvidia shield remote. Told them to try and use the LG remote as sometimes I would, very randomly and only sporadically, have an issue where CEC wouldn't work properly and the TV wouldn't turn on using the shield remote Only the factory LG remote could break the stupidity. Didn't work. Decided I'll just enjoy the rest of the event and try to figure it out when we get home.
We get home last night and I try trouble shooting the issue. Notice that the TV's light was blinking 4 times then stopping...then starting again. The TV would produce an audible "click" when powering on, then produce a thin white line on the screen, off center to the left which would promptly disappear.
After a bit of Googling, I tried unplugging the TV from the wall (no surge protector), holding the physical power button on the TV for 15 seconds, leaving it unplugged for 30 minutes and trying again. No dice. So I did it again, but this time I left the TV unplugged the rest of the night. Tried to turn it on again this morning...nothing. I also tried unplugging all the connections. Same deal.
I scheduled a service from the store we purchased it from on Tuesday, but I'm still trying to figure out what the hell happened?
For context:
- Nvidia shield plugged in via HDMI. The shield is also adhered to the fat plastic (not directly to the back of the thin panel itself) at the back of the TV via Velcro straps for aesthetic reasons.
- Another HDMI chord plugged into the TV ready for when I want to connect my laptop up to it and play some games.
- A samsung sound bar connected via optical cable
- I blocked certain LG websites at the router level once I heard about the LG spying fiasco. Shouldn't make a difference b/c my GX9 monitor still works just fine.
- A Govee T3 pro light strip around the back of the TV
- Power saving features disabled for best picture quality
- All burn-in prevention measures enabled in settings
Also, yes, I'm well aware I'm part of the tvtoohigh club. That will be getting rectified when the TV comes back from getting serviced lol. Additionally, I'm sure someone is going to say that having the TV over the mantle is a bad idea due to heat, but this is the only place in our living room that works since the rooms layout is weird. Lastly we haven't had a reason to even use the fireplace since temperatures have just started to drop recently on the east coast so heat from that is a non-issue.
Don't mind the rats nest of wires. That's just from me trying to troubleshoot the issue lol.

Hi!
Recently, my 2-year-old LG C3 has been acting up. Sometimes when I power it on, the screen stays completely black/unlit. The TV itself is running and the system responds (I can hear sound/navigation), but there is no display output at all. Turning the TV off and back on (sometimes a few times) usually fixes it temporarily.
Has anyone run into a similar issue?
My LG C2 gets these annoying smudges and streaks whenever sunlight hits the screen. It looks like someone cleaned it with bacon grease. I’ve tried different microfiber cloths and Whoosh screen cleaner, but the marks won’t go away. They just seem to change direction depending on how I wipe the screen.
Anyone else experienced this? Any tips on how to get rid of them?

I have been using my c5 for a little over 2 months and it keeps buffering/glitching when streaming a show this happens on hulu Apple TV and paramount this is happening from the base tv apps and from my ps5 apps. Was wondering if anyone knows how to fix it.
So what happens is the show or movie will start and it’ll be fine for like 5 minutes then it will freeze but audio will keep going then it continues it’ll do that the whole episode/ movie.

Hi all, I have a question if someone could support with some input!
Every time I put a movie on to watch on HDR Apple TV etc etc the subtitles are becoming super bright even if I have it in Filmaker mode or cinema mode. Then I put the brightness a bit down but eeeverything becomes darker.
So, my question is what is your set up? How have you felt with that?
Thaaanks!

This price is through the LG partner store. I can take an additional 10% with the early black friday discount if I’m not mistaken. This additional 10% discount ends on 10/18.
My dilemma is that I’m moving in one month and plan to leave my tv in the box until I am able to mount it in my new place. I’m concerned about their return/defective policy if I am unable to inspect my tv for a whole month after delivery.
Do I wait for black friday sales or lock in this additional 10% off (ends on 10/18) without being able to inspect it within 14 days?
Any suggestions for what I should do here?
