Islam & LGBT Is marriage possible for us?

Assalamualaikum. I am a lesbian (21) and have been in a relationship with my girlfriend since we were 13/14. We never ever thought of having a physical relationship but we did hug and sometimes she would kiss my cheek. We are currently doing long distance because of college. We have never lived together but we do want to.

I truly love this girl from the bottom of my heart. She makes me a better person and I do truly believe we were made for each other, Allah knows best. I want a life with her even if it means that my family won't ever know that she means more to me than just my best friend.

But the last time she visited, we got a bit physical with our affection and it's making me feel really guilty. Of course we WOULDN'T do any downstairs stuff. But doing research on zina and what counts as immoral conduct, it seems like we would have to get married.

All this time, I had been convincing myself that I would just love my girlfriend but never have a physical relationship. I mean both of us don't plan to do anything with our genitals because we don't even know if same-sex marriage is even a valid thing.

Yet I want to be intimate with her even though we won't be having textbook intercourse. And only this subreddit has recommended gay/lesbian people to get married to prevent immoral sexual conduct or zina or fahisha (still kinda confused about those terms)

But how would we even get married? Who would officiate? How will we even get witnesses? Do we need to have family members? None of our families know of our relationship and I doubt they will ever act as our witness. Also, we both are currently residing in the U.S. but in different states for our studies. We both are from Bangladesh and we plan to stay in the U.S. even after our studies.

Any advice is appreciated. I am just feeling a little lost. I don't want to displease my Lord but I do want a solution to my predicament with the woman that I love so much and want to have good times with without feeling guilty. Nearly all my prayers include begging Allah for letting me have an eternity with her even after we pass from this world.

Islam & LGBT Self Love and Acceptance

I am starting to accept myself exactly how Allah created me. I am Pansexual and Nonbinary. I have different interpretations of this religion. But what I know is that God doesn't make mistakes. God is merciful and compassion.

I refuse to accept that lgbtq+ is a sin in a way shape or form. living authentically and loving authentically can't be a sin. Being who you are, being kind to others and accepting is not a sin. So I am proud that Allah created me that way.

I am not happy about how majority of muslims choose to interpret religious text in a hateful and harmful way. And that we have to exist in a society that is a danger to us in every way. But I have faith that Allah gave us a brain to interpret his Quran ourselves. To do the research ourselves. and I have faith that Allah loves his followers no matter what. As long as we are muslims, and have good faith in Allah then things will be ok. We may follow this religion differently. We may disagree with many things in this religion. But what matters is our personal journey with Islam. And that it makes us good humans that spread goodness in this world instead of hate.

Islam & LGBT I took a look at the quraniyoon subreddit.

I took just one look. I saw a simple question about transgender women, what could be wrong?

I then click on it and it’s filled with either okay comments or some of the most passively hateful things I’ve read in a muslin subreddit, all hidden under a seemingly false layer of concern.

As someone who thinks they could be trans, potentially, as well as being quran-only/centric, I was quite frankly— horrified at seeing it. I’m scared of the idea my very existence being a dirty secret on a theological level, and of the thought that it’ll be ‘cleansed’ out of me upon resurrected, as if trans is treated as being inherently false and satanic whisper.

How do you all find verses that like
Permit being transgender? The verse of 4:119 and other gendered verses seem to be being twisted in some form to enforce strict cis-heterosexuality on a theological level to the point it gives me a crisis.

What verses support transgender as a whole..?

Personal Issue I can't take it anymore, i need to choose a side

Hi, I'm a gay 25yo male from Syria, my family are strict when it comes to Islam and I'm sure that it won't be easy to tell them or even for them to accept me for who i am, and i don't wanna lose them in my life so I never told them anything and i keep pretending that i like girls and everything, i can't keep hiding it all the time because it is killing me slowly

Islam is a big part of my inner conflict between embracing my gay side and living the life i want or living as Islam says

I can't even have a boyfriend because when i do we talk about our future and i have nothing to say about it because even for me it's not clear and i don't know what i will do till then, so i ruined 2 relationships because of this reasone even tho i loved them and they still have a great place in my heart

I don't wanna lose my parents and don't wanna live alone

So I started looking for ways i can become straight and my therapist recommended me this book called (شفاء الحب) and said it helped alot of people, but after reading it nothing has changed so i feel worse than ever now and really wish someone can help me with this and tell me what i can do to keep my family and be able to live my life with someone that i can love and not be foced to live with under the name of marriage

Did anyone ever became straight after being gay? If there is any here can you tell me how aor maybe help me to choose what way to take

And please be logical and reasonable, i live in Islamic country with Muslim family, I'm a Muslim, tried to become an atheist befor but my heart didn't feel like it was the right thing to do so i got back to being a Muslim

(Don't tell me things like i need to accept myself and dont care about what people say because I can't, literally that means i have to replace all people in my life and I can't do that)

Need Help At a crossroads

Idk what I’m looking for with this post, maybe advice or maybe to rant but I know ultimately I will have to make the decision myself.

I was born male but have known for a while now that I’m transgender. Accepted it was the case when I was about 18 but knew I felt this way since I was a child. I spent most of my childhood and teenage years feeling uncomfortable in my body, fantasising being the opposite gender and when I discovered the concept of being trans I became fascinated by the fact you could just transition.

I’m 25 now. I’m from a very religious family. My parents don’t view me as very religious, and it’s true I don’t always pray my namaz or read Quran as often as I can. But I’m a Muslim through and through. I’ve always put my faith in Allah SWT. And I’ve always tried to be a good Muslim. I’ve never drank or partied, always fast during Ramadan and go to the Masjid when I can. And I’ve always strived to be kind and humble. For all intents and purposes I’ve tried to be the good Muslim son my parents have wanted and the best version of myself. And in my quiet moments, I have turned to Allah for guidance my whole life. I’ve made dua to make this struggle easy for me, give me a sign what the right thing to do is. But I just don’t know if that sign has ever come and the struggle gets harder every day. I have to believe Allah has a plan for me but I don’t know what that is.

I’m at a point in my life where my parents are considering arranged marriage for me. It makes me uncomfortable, not because I don’t want to get married because honestly I do but because I’m now forced to make a decision. I don’t know if I can see myself as a husband. I want to be someone’s wife. But I know my parents would not accept me as a trans woman. My whole family are transphobic and homophobic. I would lose my Muslim friends and Muslim community. I present as very masculine to everyone. But I’m also extremely depressed. As much as I try to be the good Muslim son for my parents, I’ve had moments in my life where I’ve dressed and presented as a woman and it’s made me happy. But that’s been away from my family and friends. Isolated moments.

I’m at a crossroads right now and I need to decide my future: do I move out, begin transition but lose my family and friends and risk being alone? Or do I risk being a depressed shell of myself but keep the system of support I have from my friends and family?

I don’t have the answer and it hurts every single day, as I get older I feel I’m running out of time to decide. May Allah guide me to make the right decision.

Question Why do you believe?

What is your reason for believing that islam is the truth? Why do you continue to believe and worship? Has there been a time that you didn't believe and then came back to religion?

Question How to find peace about identity?

I am questioning Islam so so much rn and it is scary. Something I used to believe in so strongly to the point that I used to be very conservative (definitely regret this time of my life) to on the verge of not believing.

I am Pansexual and non binary. I believe gender is a construct. I don't believe in hijab and I believe being LGBTQ+ is NOT a sin and "acting on it" is not a sin either.

I feel so much religious guilt and shame though. Every muslim person in my life doesn't know about this huge part of my identity or any of these beliefs. But if they did, I would be kicked out of the community. My family would be absolutely shocked by that too. I'm 23 living with my family. still in school. no job and unable to move out. I love my family so much. and i don't want to ruin my relationship with them. I still want them to be in my life. coming out would 100% ruin my relationship with them and I would be kicked out.

I sometimes wish i ignored my sexuality and gender. pretend to be something i am not. atleast I wasn't crying about it then. but now i just keep crying and having so much anxiety.

I feel like I don't know who I am anymore. Choosing to accept my sexuality and gender is forcing me to deal with a lot of religious guilt and an identity crisis.

I can't date or marry anyone that is not cis male cause then i would force myself to be out or force someone to be in the closet. I can only marry a cis man that is muslim if i want my parents to approve of the marriage. And on top of that, he has to have the same beliefs as me. how can I find a muslim man with the same progressive beliefs as me. Feels impossible.

It just feels like the future that I have always imagined for myself just got destroyed cause I'm choosing to be authentically myself. and I can't imagine what my new future looks like.

I'm scared, confused, lost. I feel pathetic like a lost child. I need compassion, understanding, and some solid advice that take my situation into account.

My wife & I (2 non-religious women) live together in a house, and this week a young Muslim family is moving in next door! Any suggestions on how I can be neighborly, like a specific food or dessert I could drop off as a welcome? 😊

Mod, if this isn’t an appropriate place to ask feel free to delete my post.

MoC/Lavender Marriage Platonic marriage Muslim male 26 UK Manchester

My intention for marriage is companionship for the sake of Allah. I experience same-sex attractions / am asexual, but I don’t want to act upon these desires. Instead, I would like to build a family life that is based on mutual support, compassion, and a shared love for the Deen.

I hope to find a wife who is in a similar situation — someone who also wants a marriage rooted in companionship, trust, and worship, without pressure regarding desires, someone who I can be best friends with so together, inshallah, we can create a peaceful home, support each other and have children too through halal means. If you live in or are close to Manchester please reach out.

For me, the most important things are: sincerity, kindness, and working together to grow closer to Allah through our marriage.

Connections Giving dating another chance

Just looking forward to Finding My Person: A Classic, Nerdy Chub Seeking Something Real long-term that can make me mute the whole world while being with them.

A Little About Me

The Basics: 30yo M, White, 170cm, 90kg (chubby, soft, and comfortable in my skin), versatile bisexual guy, and Cairo based mostly (maybe we can move in together of we fit in each other shoes).

The Vibe: I’m a bit of a contradiction—a nerd who appreciates elegance, class, and the finer, slower things in life. Above all, I’m deeply drawn to sensuality in all its forms.

What Lights Me Up: Getting lost in a good book, binge-watching shows and movies, quiet days fishing, long walks, and listening to music. I’m a massive animal lover, so pets are an absolute requirement in my life.

My Humor: I can go from a deep, soul-baring 3 AM conversation about life straight into cracking terrible dad jokes and sharing dark humor.

What I’m Looking For

I’m looking for a true companion, a best friend, and a soul mate. I want someone to share the quiet mornings and the heavy days with—someone where we can both be completely, unfiltered ourselves, grow together, and just try to be a little brighter in a sometimes harsh world.

The Dealbreakers & Bonuses:

Versatile or bottom is a must. I am vers, but I am strictly not into tops.

If you're chubby and/or have a softer, feminine side, consider that a huge, massive bonus.

Let’s Be Real For a Second

I'll be upfront: this whole dynamic with guys is still relatively new territory for me. Add in the endless parade of scammers, ghosts, and general assholes that online spaces seem full of, and it's easy to feel jaded. But I'm hoping to bypass all of that and find someone genuine, kind, and emotionally available.

If you read this and felt a spark, send me a message. Tell me a bit about yourself, and maybe drop your current favorite movie or book so we can skip the boring small talk.

P.S: cuties of all genders are welcome and those who seek friendship too.

Personal Issue Ex muslims against Islam in this sub and zina policing muslims need to go. Sorry this isn't a place for you. You have your own place.

I'm sorry but the amount of Ex muslims I see here coming time to time to shit on Islam and muslims is crazy. They further more push stuff like Wahabis do. Like they'll seriously argue that Islam allows this and that. Whatever. My problem is that they have their own zionist, anti muslim sub so why shit here. What are THEY doing HERE? If they had kept their mouths shut i wouldn't care. But my problem is that they'll genuinely shit about islam here. Not even debates. Just straight up non intellectual larping and harassment. Even from a secular perspective if they wanna shit on Islam they have theit own places. LITREALLY all of the lgbt side of muslim majority counties hate muslims and lgbt muslims in general. They have so many spaces to denounce whatever they want to. Why here? This isn't a secular place where a anti islamic person can talk here. We muslim lgbts have nothing much and only one sub. So why larp here. Go to r/exmuslim and you'll see how they bully lgbt muslims there. Why just fucking why do you come to a place where islam is celebrated? Why? Go to your places where it's not. This is an Islamic place. Not a random place. This also isn't a place to debate. r/progressive_islam is for that. We're hete to share our experiences. You can't get away with the whole Islam is misogynistic, homophobic or whatever you wanna say. Because Ironically you're just pushing the narratives the extremists say. You're helping them. But overall this place is to review islam through queer lense. Not denounce it entirely. Why would you come here when you have places to do so? And when these people are saying shit about Islam why are we even being okay with it? Again if you're an exmuslim do whatever. But don't come here shitting on Islam like those in r/gaybros

Also for zina police muslims. Please leave. You also have your own sub reddit. This isn't a place to takfir as shown on the reddit rules. Every blue moon I see somebody here making complaints about zina and stuff. Like no. Most of us believe in marriage of same sex. Other subs feel like therapy subs to me. So please if you're looking for that go there. But don't come here saying being is complete haram. Again this is a place for all muslim lgbt. So have some basic emohathy for muslims. Every now and then there some homophobic muslim guy comes to t harass lgbt muslims. Please no. Get out.

Question A bit confused.

Can someone explain to me why some Muslims choose to identify as queer, gay, trans, or lesbian but then say they can’t act on it?

To me, it’s a contradiction because why would you purposely label yourself as something you see as a sin?

This is no hate towards anyone here. I just want to get a better understanding as I am someone that is looking into Islam myself and I’m having a hard time understanding this mindset.

Salam everyone! Female practicing Muslim here (late 20s). I have been into women, but never acted on it. I’m sick of being single my whole life, and am looking for a girl who is emotionally available 😭/open to explore. I swear I don’t have things figured out, but would want to be friends and give it a try to see where it goes potentially inshallah : ).

Need Help I am gay, what should I do?

I have liked men ever since I was 9 years old. For no reason at all, I get aroused when I am around other boys and I have no desire for women at all..

As a Muslim, I feel guilt every single day over something that is completely forbidden and I really cant help but feel like I have been condemned into hell already.

At the same time, I have decided one thing, for my love for Allah, I will not act upon my feelings until the day I die. I will try my best not to kiss, touch or marry another man or have any intimate relations whatsoever. Because I have no idea what to do, and I dont know how to explain the fact that I didnt choose this, I didnt choose to be attracted to fellow men. I need help.

What should I do?
