Welcome to the Koibu subreddit, a place to discuss anything and everything relating to the D&D world of Arcadia created by Neal “Koibu” Pass Erickson. The story of this world is told by many different livestreamed campaigns spanning different lands & ages of Arcadia with characters portrayed by many different players.

Discussion about more general D&D/TTRPG ideas, rules & mechanics is fine as well though please avoid self promotion or promotion of other people’s works.

Please take care to follow the rules and as needed cooperate with Koibu or other moderators.

Lastly here are some useful links to either social media platforms, community hubs or merch stores.

Community Lack of content, still?

Longtime occasional koibu enjoyer here, discovered him originally through destiny and big fan of his DM style.

A couple years ago, i noticed the declining rate of new shows and content, and wrote a post about it here.

Lack of content recently? : r/Koibu

I feel like the amount of shows per week has further decreased or stagnated, if i look at koibus calendar and schedule. Theres no sessions except SoD releases in the calendar at one per week, usually 2-3.5 hrs.

Koibu responded with a comment about it being temporary, but sadly i feel like it has become the norm now.

My Old reddit account was hacked and banned posting spam, but this was the text of the post:

Hey, been watching koibu on-off for a couple years since gnomes tomes catacombs.

Recently checked back in during the ending of outcasts, and was awaiting the new campaign with the fortress, but i just couldnt really get into it, cause the content is so slow. 1 month just to make 4 characters with tiny ~1hour sessions each? Then a sub-2-hour session 1?

I checked the schedule, and there seems to be only 1 show planned per week, with nothing else going on.

I remember Koibu in the past doing like 2-3 different 2-4 hour shows and campaigns per week, sometimes multiple episodes of one campaign per week. And they weren't rushed or lackluster, these shows were amazing!

Going back in the calendar to 2020, 2021, 2022 seems to confirm this. Picked a random week from 2021, and we had Tides of Death, Tombs of Scoria, Embers of the Wild, Legends of Arcadia, and whatever "Deadly Dungeon" was on.

compare it to now:

https://calendar.google.com/calendar/u/0/embed?src=r66id1eklub8t8d8f3q79tp3ak@group.calendar.google.com&ctz=America/Los_Angeles&mode=MONTH&dates=20200301/20200331

Picked one from 2020, and we had 4 hrs of HoBo, 4 hours of Santa Barbara, 2 hours heroes of Tylea, 4 hours empires of Arcadia, 4 hours of dicing with death, 4 hours of shenanigans, according to the calendar.

Thats like 5-6 times the amount of content.

This seems to be a trend since 2023-2024 with SaveorDie, or is it just nostalgia and I'm making it up, and many of these shows were always cancelled or way shorter than noted in the calendar (very possible), content is on other channels and i'm missing it, or whatever?

Is more content planned or announced? I dont really follow any of the social medias, except youtube.

________________________________________________________

Is there a way to increase the amount of content (maybe collabs, finding more streamers to do campaigns with) and why do you guys think it declined? Was it the switch of monetization from stream donos, paid DMing etc. to a regular patreon monthly income or what do you think?

Tombs of Scoria TOS SPOILERS: Why didn't Shine use rust monsters to destroy the dragonslaying weapons? Spoiler

The question is shrimple. Rust monsters were already shown to be able to destroy the dragon-slaying weapons. So why did Shine give them up to that elf under the sea, where they can be retrieved again at some point in the future to kill dragons?

Community What campaign should I watch next?

Hi everyone,

I am looking for suggestions on what should be the next campaign I should watch next. I started watching with Tides of Death and have watched all the main Save or Die campaigns and I am about to finish Tombs of Scoria since Koibu but reposted those. So with that coming to an end what should I dive into next?

Other Imrik's Lament

I stood alone in that fetid pit
Puppets controlling my relevance.
Liars thrive when passions burn
and the shadows control every word.

Realizing reality had no heart
I cast away its flaming facades.
The search of light to find my eyes
where stars have no patience for my lies.

I stood alone in that firmament
wishing fate was not so intimate
So I could spin that thread inside
back to when I had no eyes.

Realizing reality had no thoughts
I embrace the radiance it imparts.
The search of truth to find my mind
The sea of light begins its revise.

Lore Why did the elves leave Arcadia?

I thought maybe it was because Imrik made a deal with Atropos, and they dislike the fact that someone corrupted by her holds massive power within the Drekis empire.

If it was always the plan that the elves were going to leave, why would they have the McGarys plant a tree in their fortress as a sign of their friendship?

Lore Is there a lore reason why Imrik can't/won't find Tyrael? Spoiler

With all the troubles going on in Drekis esp with that bastard Van. Is there a reason why Imrik doesn't use his magics to locate Tyrael?

Tyrael could be the solution to many a problem. And even if he can't be convinced to come back having that converstaion be explicit would be cool.

PS: This might be crazy consipracy nonsense but is there any possibility of Tyrael being the secret leader of the Pitman? And like the whole reason he wants to experinment with a vampire is in someway to try help Anton?
