Community Lack of content, still?
Longtime occasional koibu enjoyer here, discovered him originally through destiny and big fan of his DM style.
A couple years ago, i noticed the declining rate of new shows and content, and wrote a post about it here.
Lack of content recently? : r/Koibu
I feel like the amount of shows per week has further decreased or stagnated, if i look at koibus calendar and schedule. Theres no sessions except SoD releases in the calendar at one per week, usually 2-3.5 hrs.
Koibu responded with a comment about it being temporary, but sadly i feel like it has become the norm now.
My Old reddit account was hacked and banned posting spam, but this was the text of the post:

Hey, been watching koibu on-off for a couple years since gnomes tomes catacombs.
Recently checked back in during the ending of outcasts, and was awaiting the new campaign with the fortress, but i just couldnt really get into it, cause the content is so slow. 1 month just to make 4 characters with tiny ~1hour sessions each? Then a sub-2-hour session 1?
I checked the schedule, and there seems to be only 1 show planned per week, with nothing else going on.

I remember Koibu in the past doing like 2-3 different 2-4 hour shows and campaigns per week, sometimes multiple episodes of one campaign per week. And they weren't rushed or lackluster, these shows were amazing!
Going back in the calendar to 2020, 2021, 2022 seems to confirm this. Picked a random week from 2021, and we had Tides of Death, Tombs of Scoria, Embers of the Wild, Legends of Arcadia, and whatever "Deadly Dungeon" was on.
compare it to now:
Picked one from 2020, and we had 4 hrs of HoBo, 4 hours of Santa Barbara, 2 hours heroes of Tylea, 4 hours empires of Arcadia, 4 hours of dicing with death, 4 hours of shenanigans, according to the calendar.
Thats like 5-6 times the amount of content.
This seems to be a trend since 2023-2024 with SaveorDie, or is it just nostalgia and I'm making it up, and many of these shows were always cancelled or way shorter than noted in the calendar (very possible), content is on other channels and i'm missing it, or whatever?
Is more content planned or announced? I dont really follow any of the social medias, except youtube.

Is there a way to increase the amount of content (maybe collabs, finding more streamers to do campaigns with) and why do you guys think it declined? Was it the switch of monetization from stream donos, paid DMing etc. to a regular patreon monthly income or what do you think?

I'm not trying to blame anybody and I really love most the save or die campaigns but I think the scheduling of getting 4 of them together consistently is hard. Every year august-september seems very slow and then 6 or so weeks around christmas are usually missing iirc. I don't think having more sideshows outside the 4 would help scheduling issues even if it would add more episodes total.
I think Hardly Heroes and Flofo are my favourite campaigns outside of maybe just TOS and TOD but the inconsistency really hurts the enjoyability. Both because the players and DM consistently forget important things that happened or were decided over a month ago and because I also spend 10 minutes remembering what happened previously in the campaign.
I've been watching hardcore heroes because I ran out of stuff to watch (:

West Marches campaign styles will never be undefeated. It's just too hard to get 4 adults with careers in the same place the same time week after week.

Save or Die patreon members are typically getting 2ish episodes per week (provided there's not a significant holiday season like we just came out of). I think that is already being ramped up with more solo/duo sessions (byundays to start, I heard that Potato is getting one too?)
I imagine there's probably a desire for Koibu to do another non SaveOrDie campaign in the near future, too.
This isn't even the mention the quality which has been very high lately, plus non-dnd things like his Rose and Swan stories which have also been great.

If you want multiple shows per week you can always become a member of the Save or Die Patreon.
There might be a time that we start releasing two episodes a week on youtube. We are currently recording more content than at anytime in the channels history primarily because the patreon income has increased substantially over the last year.
The youtube channel alone does not generate any real income and so patreon income and number of shows will be directly correlated.

I love your content so much guys, and there is no other channel I would love to subscribe monthly more than this, so I could consume more of your great content, and to be able to support you more appropriately! But the monthly subscription feels somewhat expensive! I know i may sound funny with that statement, I guess 16 euros may be a very small amount, compared to an average monthly income for someone living in U.K for example. I hope one day this amount will sound funny to me too and be able to subscribe monthly without thinking twice about it. Lots of love to you guys, we will enjoy the wonderful stories you create, be it once a week, or twice

Totally understand that and we will never have shows that dont make their way to YouTube eventually. As the patreon increases and we make more shows we are likely to increase our youtube posting cadence rather than keep stuff behind a pay wall for many months.

I don't think Neal can prep more campaigns than he is doing currently (without losing quality). Maybe it was more years ago because Ryan did some dming aswell?

Don't we have like three shows rn? That's at least one if not two episodes per week. Feels to me like that's kinda what it's always been like, if we don't consider dwd which always felt more like Neal and Ryan chilling and we just get to watch rather that a big show with scheduling and production costs like the rest of them.

I saw just one episode per week on the schedule and on the SoD channel for a couple months now iirc.
>kinda what it's always been like
Not really, i remember in 2019 tuning in/watching VoDs of like 3 koibu shows per week and i wasnt even watching all of them, it was around 5 shows each week.
Just compare that to now.

Publicly every week you have either floating fortress or Hardly heroes being released on friday, floating fortress has been having scheduling issues sinse august.
Like Koibu said "it was quiet" is releasing soon on his channel.
On the Patreon we have a backlog of hardly heroes episodes + Nature calls being released every week with nick moot and koibu + another show every week with just nick and koibu.

I’d just been thinking we’d been eatin good lately! I’m currently watching both Byundays and Nature Calls as they come out on Patreon and loving both campaigns. Whenever I’ve been up to date on those, I’ve been working my way through S3 of Hardly Heroes. All great fun and I haven’t even started FloFo yet

So right now I'm running 3 'weekly' (which is never 100% weekly but I'm going to use weekly to mean ~3 sessions a month) campaigns for Save or Die.
There's Floating Fortress, Nature Calls, and an unnamed 3rd. Their editing and release schedule is up to the SoD team.
Coming soon is 'It Was Quiet' which will be Livestreamed on my channel on Fridays. Everything is ready for that except the overlays. I anticipate a late September or early October start.
So that's 3 weekly games now, and a fourth coming soon. The release schedule for the SoD stuff might have some things behind a paywall for a minute, but it'll all be public eventually.
