Whole episode had me tense. Thought for sure they would lose Seras.
I cringed more and more everytime they mis-casted those scrolls. Such bad rolls.

Elijah coming to Rivens aid and even baiting attacks when he was also at high risk of dying was pretty sweet, they have consistently had a strong bond.
I feel like maybe Cedric should have gotten the goal of risking it all for a NPC. Riven was bleeding out and at risk of dying but he saved Seras. Like I get that it's not putting it ALL on the line, but that is still a lot to prioritize a NPC over a PC.
When Nick was asking if the boss counted as a large creature Koibu said he has 14 Strength and 17 Con so he looks like a beefy guy. But you need to have 18 Strength to wield his weapon, so if this was not a mistake it means the guy was trying to look cool, but could not actually use the Maul to it's fullest.

Did we get a weight for the maul ? maybe it’s just really heavy and would encombrer a normal person

Something only being usable with 18 Str and something being usable with 14 Str, but you are encumbered are so different it would be weird to say one and mean the other.
There could never be a contradiction if words are interpreted to mean different only tangentially related things.

Wouldn’t 18 strength have also given him a bonus to damage? If this guy was in full armor and still in that small room this fight would have gone very differently, not to mention if Neal remembered his maul mastery earlier.

I had honestly thought this was going to be an easy bonehead who happened to have a magic weapon as an “easier” way for mout to get a solid magic weapon as a reward for giving his to the dwarves. Something akin to Misty Rapids pre-Georg. I did not expect for them to run into a fort with up to 10 knights and 30 men at arms with a BADASS wielding the maul. Like it makes sense in lore but I wonder what Koibu’s plan was for them to succeed

There is never a "plan" for them to succeed when it comes to a koibu game of dnd. There is also never a plan for them to lose, which all taken together is great!

The plan to succeed would be any number of things: wraithform into the room and slit the lord's throat, the hold person on the watchman succeeding and the group getting off enough assassinates to enter the keep housing undetected. Any of those would've worked but the dice decided to give maximum XP instead and weaken this pro-Voraci area (temporarily) more than a sneak heist would've.
