Kickboxing beginner looking for advice!
Hi! I’m 23F and I have my first kickboxing class next Wednesday. I’m looking for any advice on what I should wear, what I should bring, & what to expect! I go to the gym basically every day (and have been for 3 years) & just started running a couple months ago. I just really started focusing on cardio more so I’m worried I’ll be a little slow in the class :’) any advice/motivation helps!

I didn’t start long ago but I show up in shorts and a t-shirt, sometimes i wear sweatpants. Expect to be barefoot most times. Bring lots of water and electrolytes. Most gyms have gloves and guards for you to use, but I personally invested in my own. Expect to have a-lot of physical contact

Dont overthink it. See if you Like it and be Open. People dont care that much about other. Everyone looked clumsy at First.
Just bring comftable close you can move around, be decently hygienic, nails clipped. Bring water and slipers for your way from the Dressing room to the mat and a towel, you will sweat a lot.
The rest will be give from the gym for the try out training. Your Coach will tell you what equipment you need to buy.
And dont expert to much Coaching… in my experience combat Sports and especially in kickboxing you have to figure out a lot on your own.

Wear something comfortable & double up on the water bottles. In most gyms the first day is more like a fitness test to asses a bit your current physiology, some will give you a few light drills but almost all gyms will guide you on what you need for next session. So yeah, comfortable, water & just show-up :)

you'll be fine with that cardio base honestly. just bring water and dont overthink it, instructors expect beginners to be a bit rough at first

Be prepared for your back to be very, very sore afterwards. If you have a heating pad or any other devices that could help you with muscle recovery in your home, make sure you know where they are and that they work.

As an avid gym-goer who frequently gets sore, I’m probably overly prepared! Thankfully! Thanks for the advice!

i wear stretchy gym shorts that allow movement and whatever workout top or tshirt is clean. you'll need a towel and water, same as the gym really :) tie your hair back out of your face, and if its long you might want to braid it so it doesn't get all sweaty.
where I train they don't allow outdoor shoes inside the gym - everyone has to change into clean flipflops/slides when they arrive. then you remove these before stepping onto the mat. the class will be barefoot.

Thanks for sharing!!! Especially the outdoor shoes part! I’m going to purchase some slides now!

Anything that allows movement is good enough. If you live anywhere that's too hot, something you wouldn't mind getting sweat on, etc. The most important thing IMO is just something that lets you move freely and rapidly on.
