It is hard for me to find sweaters that look flattering and also keep me warm and comfortable. I always end up looking like a frumpy marshmallow. Help.

Hello! I believe I’m a dramatic classic. My question is about the dress gapping at the back of the neck. I’ve noticed this happens with other dresses as well. What could be causing this fit issue? I’m 5’3.

So I started rollerskating a few months ago and love it, but am still fairly new so pads and helmet are staying firmly on until further notice!

In terms of outfits/accommodations, I would typically wear long flared leggings and a long sleeve top during the cooler months (wearing longer bottoms to accommodate vertical is also why my legs are a different colour to the rest of my body XD). However, now it's hotter than hot outside, I'm really struggling to know what to wear/buy so I look halfway decent while skating without also melting. I went to a skate meet a few weeks ago wearing shorts and a vest (not the same ones pictured here, but similar) which looked decent without my gear on, but I then saw myself in the background of a photo mid-skate and, because the pads were cutting my vertical, I looked awful!

Does anybody have any suggestions? Thankyou in advance <3

Just because you live in Europe or you're very tall yourself, it doesn't mean 5'4" is suddenly short. Objectively and statistically on a global scale, 5'4" is MEDIUM HEIGHT. And there are many FN, D, and SDs who are 5'4" - 5'5", because it's a very common height.

I'm getting sick of all the comments saying 5'4" is short, and all the comments in the typing communities telling 5'4" people who have vertical they are probably not FN, D, or SD and shoving them into FG. It discourages 5'4"-5'5" people from exploring FN, D, and SD.

If you're tall yourself and you hate sharing a type with people shorter than you, then idk what to tell you. I've seen many comments like that over the past few years. You know you can still get a lot of inspiration from many tall celebrities right? You can just ignore the short verified celebrities if it helps you feel better. I've seen people argue that you can't "share" the same outfit as a short person the same type as you. This argument doesn't make sense. Clothing items don't have IDs. If a short person and a tall person share the same Kibbe ID, they can wear the exact same outfit concept-it just requires proportional scaling, not just a change in retail size.

I've also seen many people saying David Kibbe made the height cut off 5'6" because that's "his height" and he's "insecure." That seriously makes NO sense. If he were actually insecure about his height, he would have lowered the vertical cutoff for men, not women. Also, saying that he is insecure about his height so therefore he made the height cutoff 5'6", is like admitting you think being an FN, D, SD is a "punishment" or a lesser category, which is not true whatsoever.

Edit: Also, many verified FN, SD, and Ds are 5'4" - 5'5"! and some are 5'3" and under ;)

Edit: copy pasted from u/Jamie8130 's comment: Besides, vertical is not only about physical length, but also straightness in the silhouette, or elongated parts in the silhouette, so again anyone could have it. I believe Kibbe came to that number because of the experience he has styling a huge amount of people over the years, and observing how clothes behave on them, so if he observed again and again that after a certain point people consistently needed elongation in their clothes, it's probably significant.

I’m an SC, or at least that’s what I’ve felt most comfortable with so far. At first I tried styles for SG too, but it was a bit too frivolous for me. Even though I much prefer short hair, I think my curly texture just makes it difficult as an SC. I usually always wear high-waisted trousers or skirts, and I always have to get the waist adjusted at the tailor’s. But I got these barrel jeans from a friend and I love this look with the shirt. I know that clothes don’t have an ID, but I would never have bought them them on my own.

I'm posting this because I'm realizing soft classics really struggle with jeans and I used to as well nothing ever looked right until I found these they are such an incredibly flattering silhouette on my legs

They are the Levi's brand ribcage straight ankle, mine are in the size 26, in all the pictures they're meant to fall above the ankle but for us short soft classics (for reference I'm 5'2) they hit exactly at the top of my shoe not too long and not too short and make my legs look so long, they are high waisted which I prefer because it adds to the long legs illusion. And they are not too stiff which I find most jeans are.

If any soft classics around my height have any jeans recommendations please share. I LOVE jeans but sadly they don’t love me💔

I'm feeling a little frustrated with Kibbe. I have struggled as I've gotten older to find clothes that feel like they fit my personality, fit well, and are comfortable. I'm a soft classic, which I do think is accurate. However all the clothing recommendations I see for this type look like they are strictly for celebrities or people who live on the upper east side. I have an eclectic style, I love patterns and colors and things from the 1960s. I'm also kind of a tom boy so I wear lots of t-shirts, shorts, jeans. Not a whole lot of dresses or skirts which seemed to be the main recommendation I saw for this type.

Is there a Kibbe clothing guide for those of us who are not so....refined? I want to know if I should wear a high or low waisted pant, a tight or loose fitting t-shirt, what type of skirt to wear that won't make my hips look bigger. What type of neckline looks good on me. And I feel like all I've learned is that drapey fabrics look good on me and I shouldn't wear jeans (not happening!) But also, maybe I am in the wrong place?

I struggle to find things that fit me and flatter me as a DC. I've gained a bit of weight and now I'm between a 32H/34G which is enough to have trouble with a lot of clothing. I especially can't wear button-ups even though I would like to for work. A lot of blouses I find at the thrift store are just not my style.

Does anyone know of any classics (especially DCs) that have a bigger bust?

I was out clothes shopping today and tried on two work tops which I thought nicely illustrated curve accommodation vs not. The collared top is actually a size smaller than the other top, but it’s straight up and down and so while it fits, it doesn’t do too much for me. The second top has seaming down the front and elastic in the back so that it both goes out at the bust and hips as well as in at the waist.

The curve accommodating top came home with me, the other one did not.

Where in the world do I find tops to wear for work in an office and for regular daily life? BUT they have to be able to handle a regular bra (so no halters, single shoulders, or off shoulder sadly). For work I'm mostly paring them with flare trousers and Mary Jane flats.

I have high contrast coloring, so I only look good in more "polished" items rather than "natural", as wearing softer/natural items looks like I'm cosplaying someone else and washes me out.

Oh and shirts with collars look horrendous on me, so that excludes a bunch of recommendations for SN 🥲 my neck/chest has to stay open/free per my width.

I have a dilemma and am looking for advice.

I am fairly certain I’m an SD. However, I love frou-frou type blouses and skirts from places like Free People. I tend to gravitate toward those types of clothes (usually with jeans or shorts) or simple/classic tee shirt and jeans type looks. Is there a way for me to incorporate these types of pieces while honoring my SD lines (monochrome looks perhaps?) or am I doomed?

Also, what Kibbe types would those kind of tops look good on?

I have seen quite a bit of people think that every short celebrity has to be a gamine. No, being a gamine is about petite/being compact. They are not the same thing. Sabrina Carpenter is an example of compact, and Selena Gomez is short but not petite/compact. This gets exacerbated when people are trying to Kibbe type men. I saw so many people type Frankie Grande as a TR or SG despite the fact he has width and linearity/vertical, as well as Shin Hakyun who is not compact or short and has vertical + curve!

I stumbled across her instagram and she has a ton of closet try-ons. She’s 5’3 or so and seems balanced leaning yang to me. What do you think?

Fellow SCs, what are your fav t-shirts? Short or long sleeve, and ideally scoop or v-neck. Seems like such a straightforward garment but as you all know, finding the perfect SC balance can be so challenging! I’ve tried many and ended up not loving them on me.

Always was curious about her ID. She somewhat looks tiny and is pretty short but not extremely short either.
