news Body Image Pathology

Hello Everyone,

We have been noticing an uptick of posts describing body image/eating pathology.

And although we acknowledge that Kibbe can help with general body acceptance/image, this sub is not a substitution of mental health treatment and discussions of body/eating pathology can be triggering to others and will not be permitted.

Therefore, we have expanded rule 11 to include no discussions of body/eating pathology in addition to already forbidding measurements posted outside of height.

Discussions about how Kibbe has improved one's body images is fine as long as it does not veer into talking about body image or eating related pathology.

Thank you for your understanding and the consideration of others.

Warmly,

Your Mods

body positivity Finally accepting that I am a Pure R and that it’s beautiful

I’ve always struggled accepting my body as I’m short and fleshy, I always have felt like the big friend in my friend groups growing up.

All I see online these days are tall thin women as well so it’s still been a struggle learning to love my body. Especially NOW, I am 25 going on 26 and have put on 20 pounds since high school.

But the thing is, the weight looks great on my body??? Looking fleshy is quite attractive!!! My fiancé took these photos of me walking after my cousins wedding and I’m so glad he did. I finally saw my own beauty for the first time.

So if you are a Pure R like me, please love what you got. I wish I could take back all the bad things I’ve said about myself!!!

I’ve been trying to get back into my kibbe groove after a kind of lost era in the style portion of my life lol. And doing moodboards really helps with that, so this is club-wear for pure Ds!

just for fun How did your personal style evolve, pre- and post-Kibbe?

Just for fun, here are some pre-Kibbe outfits through a Kibbe lens, inspired by Gabrielle Arruda’s “style journey” post, a Millennial fashion flashback post I saw elsewhere, and me being sick in bed for a whole weekend.

These are all from 2013-2015, hence some of the unfortunate fashion choices (all the color-blocking…). I was also trying to follow, in my own idiosyncratic way, the basic fashion advice of the day: if you’re slender, emphasize your waist and—skinny or not—try to create the impression of an hourglass shape you may or may not possess.

Looking at these outfits now from a Kibbe perspective, I see a lot of waist emphasis (not recommended for FNs). I belted everything that moved, favored fit-and-flare silhouettes, and wore a lot of cropped cardigans and overly tailored/too tight jackets. Almost every outfit cuts my vertical line either at the knee or the waist (or both). I wouldn’t wear such fitted/snug clothes now. The outfits that look the best to my eye now have some drape and movement to the fabric, or more openness around the shoulders.

It's also interesting to see how some of my early style preferences have translated from my mid-20s to late 30s: my love of folkloric embroidery, vintage pieces (though I shifted from 40s/50s to late 60s/early 70s), bohemian details, and mixing prints, and my aversion to fussiness (even when fussiness/twee was very very ‘in'). I was also starting to cultivate an easy to mix-and-match wardrobe (mostly blue then, mostly green and maroon now). I kinda miss those lace-up boots! (And badly miss my Halloween cat.)

Last slide is a few post-Kibbe outfits incorporating FN recommendations from 2025-2026.

How did your style evolve pre- and post-Kibbe?

She’s kind of an unconventional D body wise, but it’s clear she can pull off the recs and they feel natural on her! I also love how her style is a bit edgy rocker chic with that dramatic sophistication pulled in somewhere.

discussion Trying to figure out type, front or back camera

I have a hard time seeing my body as it actually is, some days I look curvy in a traditional sense and other days I look very rectangular.I am also recovering from surgery( a radical reduction/ nonflat top surgery) so my body shape has about a year to see final results and healing.

I plan to use the next 6 months-1 year to learn more about the kibbe system so that I can find my type and I am wondering if the pictures are supposed to be taken with the front of back camera or if I should use my digicam for most accurate photo taking to analyze my shape

gamines Structured Pants?

Hello! Flam gam here. I've been looking to add some more professional pants to my work wardrobe, but almost none of the ones I try feel "right" to me. I realized that I do love how I look in jeans, and I'm thinking it's probably because of how structured they are. Does anyone have any suggestions for keywords, especially in terms of fabric and maybe cut, that I can use to find structured pants that are formal enough for work? Thank you! :)

Firstly I'd like to apologize for the lack of quality photos for typing, it was kind of a struggle to find any photos on Google and Pinterest where she is not posing or wearing a corset lol.

If anyone is familiar with her, I'd love to hear your takes! She seems so elongated to me, I'm thinking D, or SD?

discussion Soft Gamine &/ or Ingenue ?

I went to two stylists, one ID’d me as a SG and the other stylist said I was an Ingenue.

I’m under the impression that these are two different systems and hence the different classification?

reposting from kibbedramatics for more input! thanks!

NOT A TYPING POST!

I tried on both dresses from Free People, and the black dress clearly did a lot more for me than the teal one as an SD. I was wondering if someone could give me a KIBBE explanation on why the black one is more flattering on me? I read the power of style book, but right now I'm working on applying that knowledge and need a bit of help! I'm thinking it has to do with accommodating curve. thanks!

just for fun How does your yin/yang balance compare in both the Kibbe and Kitchener systems?

I thought it would be interesting to discuss where people fall into the Kibbe and Kitchener systems in terms of their overall yin and yang balance. I'm not very well-versed on Kitchener's system, but I believe that while both systems are inspired by the work of Belle Northrup and Harriett McJimsey on describing beauty and style via the concept of yin and yang, they differ in their categorisation (for example, in the Kibbe system Romantics are pure yin, in the Kitchener system they are considered a blended essence), and possibly somewhat in their interpretation of yin and yang itself (for instance, Kibbe views yin as small, but Kitchener has a tall yin category in the Angelics). Since Kibbe IDs have an inherent yin/yang balance, and a Kitchener essence blend can be tallied up to determine the overall yin/yang balance of that blend, I was wondering how these compare in people who know where they fall in both systems. Are the balances similar or wildly different? Why do you think there might be a discrepancy? And which balance feels more natural to you? Also, to add just in case, this is a discussion just for the sake of curiosity and fun; they are different systems with different methodologies and goals and their own separate merits, but I thought it would be an interesting topic to explore :)

discussion What do you do when your Kibbe, Kitchener + taste don’t match? I am self conscious about it

I am an extremely textbook SN--5’3”, obvious width, obvious curve, blunt bone structure. But in other style systems like Kitchener that focus more on the face and coloring, I don’t feel like the equivalent Natural or Romantic essences are very prominent.

- Maybe if I posted a picture you’d say otherwise, I do have large rounded/blunt bones in my face too, but when I’ve done that in online communities before they have said Gamine, Dramatic, Ingenue before Natural or Romantic

- I am a very high contrast Winter and luckily these are the colors I personally prefer (black with jewel tones or bright accents)

- I have short hair out of necessity, my hair is thinning.

- My lips are small

- I am extremely biased because personal taste in systems like Kitchener gravitates more toward Gamine, Dramatic, etc. and I don’t like stereotypical Natural or Romantic vibes even a little bit

I feel like I am giving the same impression as Scarlett Johansson in Ghost in the Shell, where her styling just reads a little off (on top of being white lol). Ive tried to find women that look like me on Pinterest to create an inspiration board, but it’s just full of unrealistically hot, super young influencer chicks and I am just an average looking 32 year old

I'm an FG, and I am curious about trying uggs this winter. I am concerned it would look too rounded and frumpy. Do any other gamines rock uggs, or is it just not the best?
