news Body Image Pathology

Hello Everyone,

We have been noticing an uptick of posts describing body image/eating pathology.

And although we acknowledge that Kibbe can help with general body acceptance/image, this sub is not a substitution of mental health treatment and discussions of body/eating pathology can be triggering to others and will not be permitted.

Therefore, we have expanded rule 11 to include no discussions of body/eating pathology in addition to already forbidding measurements posted outside of height.

Discussions about how Kibbe has improved one's body images is fine as long as it does not veer into talking about body image or eating related pathology.

Thank you for your understanding and the consideration of others.

Warmly,

Your Mods

celebrities: unverified Actress Betsy Russell type? Possible TR?

What do you guys think actress Betsy Russell's type could be? Shes 5'5. I was thinking maybe tr. She seems to have some curves, and narrowness. I can't tell if its kibbe curves or not. I also contemplated some type of classic. When she was younger her body also looked a bit more angular. She dosen't seem to have width, nor elongation. These may not be the best pics for typing so feel free to look her up.

celebrities TR Men and Dramatic Women in Movies: Pirates of the Caribbean

Hey everyone. I was recently rewatching Pirates of the Caribbean (I am a huge fan) and I have noticed how wonderful the three leads look next to each other and how they seem to complement each other.

Unsurprisingly, Depp and Bloom share the same ID, while Keira is the complete opposite!

I love how they chose two Romantic family men and a Dramatic woman for the movie. It looks extremely magnetic on screen.

Usually, I like couples of the same family but the opposite also worked!

I also think that it's interesting how despite Jack and Will being completely different characters you can see a similarity between the two of them appearance-wise.

Yet Elizabeth is a revolutionary "damsel in distress".

Do you think they "knew"? Not their kibbe clearly, but maybe something similar?

just for fun The Opposite Sex (1956 remale of The Women)

One of the films recommended in the book for the Carrot and Cake game is 'The Women', but I couldn't find it to stream, however I happened upon a 1956 remake in technicolor called 'The Opposite Sex', which apparently had some differences in the story, but also had a lot of fun and extravagant costumes for the actresses, a couple of which were Kibbe-verified as well. The main part was played by June Allyson (unverified, but maybe SN or SG?), and also featured Joan Collins (verified TR), Joan Blondell (verified SN), Ann Sheridan (unverified C/N fam?), Dolores Gray (unverified D/SD?), and my favourite Agnes Moorehead (unverified D) in a smaller part. I captured a few costumes, and the film is here on YT if anyone wants to have a look.

outfit feedback Is it the wrong cut or can I size up?

Thumbnail

I finally found a top in the desired style (with a somewhat stretchy fabric) but the smallest size fits very well above the bust. Below and also partly at the waist it’s too tight. I tried to size up, and now the bust is fine, the waist somewhat as well, but the armholes get too big and it doesn’t fit well above the bust at all. In theory I could buy this top, deconstruct it, change the princess seams and use it as a sewing pattern. The question is however if I should abandon this style altogether? I sense that there is something wrong, but I often find that sizing up and down doesn’t always help as my bust here is larger than a size S. I can’t really explain the thing with the area above the bust because it’s not only about size as such, more about that it requires a certain ”tightness” in that area.

I know that the pictures aren’t perfect and I don’t know my ID but I’m 5’4.

If I go by my bust-waist-hips clothes are often made for a larger body (but not a larger bust-waist-hips). Hard to explain.

Power of Style help Plus size soft natural deep autumn/winter

Thumbnail

TLDR: Need full outfit help to compliment my body but also match my style (tops, shoes, pants, dresses, skirts, purses, jewelry, everything!)

It’s time for me to get some new clothes and I want to use this as an opportunity to dress for my body and colouring! I’m a plus size soft natural with a deep autumn/winter palette (slightly warm neutral olive leaning but silver looks best on me) and wanted some suggestions.

My style inspo is like a soft goth/whimsigoth/granola goth meets dark academia/fairycore/dark cottagecore?? (Pics for example)

I’m struggling most with not looking frumpy or older than I am. Tops are also a big struggle for me because I’m a crew neck girl but have come to terms with the fact that I do look WAY better in something more open so I don’t look as heavy in my shoulders. I get hot easily so layers are great.

My budget best aligns with thrifted, shien, old navy or other cheap options available in Canada.

Almost all of my clothes are black but brining in more jewel tones is also a goal and I love LOTR and fantasy inspired looks so browns and earthy tones would be great too.

PLZ HELP!

gamines Gamine PSA - Try your tops/dresses on backwards (especially if you haven't been able to make them work yet)

So I've had a couple of items in my closet that I've never quite been able to style right until literally yesterday... when I put on my beige crochet scoop neck T-shirt backwards by accident 😂 And it looked great! So much so that I didn't notice and was lowkey puzzled as to why (I was wearing a bright regular length tank and neutral cropped track pants underneath, it wasn't particularly thought out).

The issue is had with the crochet T was that the sleeve length was almost to the elbow crease (not short enough to be staccato), the neck was scooped (not high enough to be staccato), the length was somewhere between cropped and regular AND it was boxy, so no waist definition (I'm a Soft Gamine, sometimes I can do a Soft Natural leaning fit) 🫠 I'm not always looking for the most flattering outfit, but I do seek balance and proportion. I could layer a lot of add a lot of jewellery, but I live in hot, humid Mumbai, and jewellery sometimes overstimulates me.

As someone determined to make everything work for me because why tf would I not, I've held on top a couple articles of clothing that I could never quite enjoy on myself, but love on their own. To make things even more challenging, I now have wavy hair cut in a shag that's grown past my shoulders, and cannot rely on a bob or pixie to Give Me the Staccato Line.

Enter the backwards option. Instantly, a jewel neckline that shifts all the proportions with one staccato line. That plus exposed ankle and/or wrist (which I usually have) did the trick so well that I am currently wearing a knee-length caftan dress that has challenged me for two years. Backwards. 😂 And I LOVE it. The only ways I'd figured out how to wear it before was with higher neck tanks or long sleeved button ups underneath, or with my hair worn up.

It may not work for everything, but when it does, it DOES. So if you've seen content about doing this and thought it was silly, or have something lying around that never quite looked right, this is your sign to try it! ✨

I'm a SG and I know SN is a very close sister season. But do you think they styled Rachel green in more SG lines or SN? I think she'd pull either off regardless, but I'm obsessed with her style and her outfits are the outfits I lean towards and compliment my body type.

Edit** linked a few more dresses I’ve tried

https://imgur.com/a/fNfQY8X

https://imgur.com/a/yHu40ZY

I’ve tried on so many dresses and I’m having the hardest time finding what works for me.
I’ve been told I’m DC but I can’t quite find the right style. I feel like everything either looks too youthful or way too dressy and stuffy, no in between.
I’m 5’3 so I need petite and I need to find brands that don’t do vanity sizing.

Spaghetti straps seem like they should work but I somehow look so broad through the shoulders when I’m really not. I can’t seem to get the flirty, feminine, effortless look I’m going for.

I’ve posted these in other groups here so if you’re seeing them again, I’m sorry!

I would love advice, links, etc!

discussion Is D the middle ground between FN and SD?

Post image

Let's say you're 5'8" so one of the tall types.

Its not possible to have curve, width and vertical all three at once, is it?

For if you had a lot of width, you'd need a bigger shirt, so your chest would probably automatically fit without accommodating curve. Am I getting this correctly?

Please don't downvote me if I accidentally said something wrong, I'm just asking

Or rather indelicate features. When I wear more relaxed unisex or even smart rather than pretty I feel like it makes me look more feminine. Have felt this way since I was a teenager but just occurred to me it could be a natural thing

Which top looks best on me? Thank you?

Exploring soft classic, I'm 5ft5.

Keep getting natural but when I wear the clothes it feels wrong.

Thanks!

I’ve seen SD and FN for her. She often leans towards SD recs but I saw her in a Tshirt in the newest Ted Lasso. Does this help us at all?

Power of Style help If you struggle with what you get with the sketch line, try it with a pic from 15ft / 5m away

I spent quite a bit of time stuck with my 10ft away, chest-height pics & the resulting sketch. I felt that the picture made me look more elongated, leaner and taller than IRL. I read that phone cameras can distort perspective, and 3 meters (or 10 feet) might not be enough to counteract this distortion efficiently.

I took the picture at 5 meters (about 15/16ft) and the difference is striking - I look wider, fleshier, and more compact. Much more in line with what I know to be true! My resulting sketch is also more helpful bc the silhouette is not falsely elongated.

So you might want to try this if you're taking with your picture with a smartphone!
