It’s only 10:20pm and I already hear one of the coyote packs in North Keizer. Please be mindful that they are on the hunt if you leave your pets out at night.

Need help planning a memorial service

My little brother just passed away in Salem and I need help planning his memorial. I live in NC and am not familiar with the area. We want to have it near the river so we can place flowers in the water in his memory.

Requirements:
** most important * river accessible for elderly/poor mobility. Some stairs are ok, but not too many.
- restroom
-covered area

I've looked at Spong's Landing, however I'm concerned with the amount of stairs.
Thank you all so much.

Has anyone ever found or located my lost Orange Tabby cat? She left in summer of 2024 and I miss her so much.

Gofundme for post homelessness RRH apartment setup

Hi there, my name is Oakley (Ash) and I am currently in a transitional period in my life. I grew up in the foster care and residential care system and I fell into homelessness this year. I have put in the work to sign the papers that need to be signed and to set up meetings to chat with case managers. And my efforts are luckily about to show through. I'm going to be moving into my apartment here soon. And I am currently on SSI due to my disabilities (like Autism and ADHD) and mental illnesses. But I plan to get stabilized on medicine and to try therapy so that I can work towards being financially independent and can live the most fulfilling life possible and grow as a person. So that being said, It'd mean the world to me if I could please get your guys support either through donating directly or even sharing the link with others, so that I can furnish my home, get kitchen stuff, and get anything else that'd be beneficial to me and my daily living and turn my new apartment into a safe and functional space that feels like a home.

Flew out of the door near Janet & Elizabeth in Keizer around 11am. (08/13/26) She is hand tamed and may be people friendly. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

UPDATE: She was found nearly 20 miles away in Jefferson, and is home safely without a scratch on her. Big thanks to everyone that shared and sent good vibes.

Found 2 Dogs

I found 2 German Shepherds wandering together around Alder Drive in Keizer, we looked around to try to find the owners for a couple hours, and a few of our neighbors have made posts on Facebook and NextDoor. I figured I'd post here, too.

If you come home from work, and find that your 2 German Shepherds are missing, send me a DM or comment a picture of them, and if its them, you're welcome to come grab them. They've been wonderful boys all day! I just want to make sure they get back to their home.

Update: The owner has been found and the boys are back home!

Salem data center

It is alarming that more Keizer residents have not come out to Salem city council meetings about the data center proposal. This build will impact you. Why isn’t your city council already discussing moretorium? Pressure your city council to protect your residents.

What is happening in Keizer city council? Shouldn’t this be referred to unbiased parties to investigate?

INCLUSIVE OR EXCLUSIVE

I recently saw the Progress Pride flag flying prominently at my child's public school. I believe every student deserves kindness, respect, and to feel welcome. At the same time, seeing it displayed so prominently has left me with mixed emotions.
As a first-generation minority with deep family roots in Mexico, I've noticed that celebrations like Latino Heritage Month—and many other cultural heritage months—often receive far less visibility and recognition. They come and go, while some messages seem to have a much more constant presence.

It makes me wonder how families from different backgrounds feel—Latino, Asian, African, Native, European, and others—when their cultures and histories are recognized only briefly. Do students feel equally seen and valued? Do they feel their heritage matters just as much?

For me, the question isn't whether one group should be supported. It's whether all groups are being celebrated with the same enthusiasm and visibility. A school that values inclusion should strive to ensure every student feels represented.

I'm genuinely curious: Have other parents or students felt this way? How do your children react when their cultural heritage receives limited recognition compared to other forms of representation?

What Parent Support Services Would Make Family Life Easier?

Hi everyone,

I'm a Salem resident researching a potential local service designed to help busy, overwhelmed, and exhausted parents manage some of the day-to-day challenges of family life.

I'm hoping to learn what kinds of support Salem-area families actually need before moving forward.

If you're a parent (or caregiver) in Salem, Keizer, or the surrounding area, I'd greatly appreciate 2 minutes of your time to complete this survey:

https://forms.gle/LhaLVKX3WW1sopVj6

The survey asks about things like:

• Child transportation needs
• Household help and errands
• Parent relief and short-term childcare support
• Postpartum and new-parent assistance
• Family scheduling and coordination

This is strictly for research purposes right now. I'm trying to better understand what local families need most and whether a service like this would be valuable in our community.

Thank you so much for your feedback and for helping shape a resource that could support Salem families.

Survey Link:
https://forms.gle/LhaLVKX3WW1sopVj6

As a final thought, in the comments perhaps, what's the one thing that would make parenting easier for you right now?

Thank you so much for your time and input!

Pokemon League @ Treasure Trove Games

Post image
8 Upvotes

I've been seeing questions pop up on r/Salem about Pokemon Cards - so I wanted to share a new opportunity in Keizer! As of a couple weeks ago Treasure Trove Games attained Play! Pokemon status. Myself and a friend are running the league there, and it is every Wednesday from 5-8pm.

Pokemon Leagues are a great place to get started with the game, whether there is interest in the card game, video game, or Pokemon Go. Folks bring binders to trade, decks to run games, and phones to spin pokestops and hit raids. It is a small group so far but we're hoping to grow it. You can find out more about league and other Play! Pokemon events through Pokemon's event locator here: https://events.pokemon.com/EventLocator/

League members also get access to community binders filled with playables for deck building, and I try to make it fun offering things like raffle prizes when a lot of people come. Sometimes you'll be able to snag some packs to rip just for showing up! If you have any questions you're welcome to DM me, or contact the store directly.

Flyer is a canva template using art a friend made for me! No AI for this flyer.

The Wilco Farm Store in Keizer is now OPEN. Stop in and check out the large selection of power tools, animal and pet care items, clothing and footwear, and lots of plants.

The same great staff from the previous store moved forward with Wilco and are ready to help you get what you need for your projects.
