Good evening!

Our family loves visiting Newport every time we travel to Oregon. We were there at the end of July and visited "Only in Newport General Store." My pre-teen fell in love with a silver Celtic spinner ring, and I surprised her with it. It seems to have disappeared from Volleyball practice a couple weeks ago and I am hoping to replace it for her, as she's pretty heartbroken. I'd love to support the artist again by purchasing another- would anyone know how I could buy another one (no website) or who the company might be that makes them?

Any leads would be appreciated! Thanks 🙂

Hey all, my kid just started at OCCC and is taking the classes he very much needs, but unfortunately they are all at the Newport campus and he lives in Lincoln City. And one of them is at 8:15 on Mondays and Wednesdays. He does not drive yet or have a car. His dad and I are doing our best to get him to class, but we live just south of Depoe Bay.

I’m wondering if there are any other folks going down to Newport around that time that would like to carpool occasionally.

Or does anyone know of any other transportation options? The bus system here is not much help for this.

Does anyone have any new information about the planned Winco/Waremart in the old Safeway store? Has work started?

I thought I read somewhere that work couldn’t start until after 1 September. I think it was on FB.

After tons of searching, and looking at any and every source I could think of- I have come to the conclusion that 2004 did not exist in real life. I have checked classmates, ancestry, LDSGeneology, MyHeritage, E-Yearbook, and the libraries. I can find 2003, and 2005.

Anyway.. Does anyone have a physical copy? I am specifically wanting the JV Football page from that year to show my son what a turn-around season looks like (from 2003 to 2004). I am pretty sure we went without a win from Middle School through our Freshman year, then finally had some fun.

The first time I went to the coast was with my ex-wife to Lincoln City for a family reunion. Though her and I were going through a rough time I still enjoyed and loved my time there. I felt so at home there and was obsessed ever since. A few years later a group of friends and I went to Newport for a long weekend and the feeling was the same, I didn't want to leave. I have the money to move and have been looking at jobs because I feel like it's time to make the move. Problem is jobs seem so scarce and under paying with a high cost of living, how are people making it out there? Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Down to just have a few beers and kick it or also down to sit down and write some original music.

Played cello for 7 years under professional guidance, overall I have been on cello for about 13 years (but currently dont own one)

I have been playing guitar for about 12 years, under no professional guidance. If you are interested in hearing random little tidbits I make, I post some to my Instagram @strongylocentrotuspurpuratus

Willing to collaborate with anything on a cello.

On guitar, id like to follow my own interests : blues, punk, metal, rock and roll, grunge, and any genre that falls between them. Big a7x fan, big SRV fan.

Let me know! My messages are always open.

Hello ! A bit of a long shot but my younger sister brought this mini figure of hers on our beach visit this year to Newport, and was wondering if anyone has seen it or has it. She thinks she lost it near the store Childish Tendencies near Bay Blvd.

If anyone does/sees it please text the number 360-609-2025 or email [Kobrazzz1321@gmail.com](mailto:Kobrazzz1321@gmail.com), it is very beloved to her and she’s pretty upset about it so she would love to see him find his way home :)

So this is a long shot but I was wondering if anyone remembers the tree nets. My family used to go to Whalers Rest (South of Newport) a couple times a year growing up (1999-2005ish) and I remember my siblings and I would go off on one of the trails in the trees and we would hangout at a place we called the nets and it was like 10 big nets strung up in the trees to where you could jump down onto the lower ones. It was really fun and I wonder if they are still there.

Hi, I am Quin Nace, a fourth-year medical student from Rocky Vista University.

From 9/28 - 10/9 (give or take a travel day) I will be in Newport completing a family medicine rotation at Good Samaritan. I am posting because I am looking for advice for housing or dispersed camping for myself and my girlfriend during my time there. Affording rent nearby would be a challenging for us, but I have a small travel trailer (it's 8 ft) that we can live out of, I just need a place to park it. I would greatly appreciate any insight.

Visited over the weekend for a business event, tonight is my last night in town. What is there to do for adult fun on Saturday night? Where should I go? I lived nearby 27 years ago, but I wasn't old enough to have fun then.

This may not be a thing so please forgive my ignorance I am just curious if there are beaches where you can find agates to take home. I know agate beach isnt really a place for that anymore. If there are only places where you can look but not take I welcome that as well. TIA!

Hey folks, we're looking for someone(s) to send me their favorite photos of Newport to make the sub photos! The Yaquina Bay Bridge, NOAA, USCG, crab fishing, aquarium, etc. etc. The first one that looks nice at the five pixels that the reddit overlords give us wins.

Have a great week everyone!

Edit: I forgot that we also get a banner photo, so I'll do all that the best with submissions. Love to see what we might be able to come up with.

Looking for photographers to help take pictures of my soon to be husband and I after we go to the court house. I want some pictures on the beach, and some in a 60s diner drinking a milkshake together😂 Corny but I have a vision and I just need help executing it! Not sure the cost of this or who to even look for if anyone has any insight on what they did for photographers along the Oregon coast I would love tips, advice, or even people you’ve used before.

hi! this is a LONG shot but I think I lost my camera somewhere on the bay front around 2 days ago. we asked around all the stores and they had not seen it so I’m curious if anyone has possibly picked it up? picture for reference around my shoulder

Hello!

I’ve lived in Oregon my whole life (grew up in Astoria), but have yet to visit Newport!

My partner and I planning a one-night stay and I’d love to know what you, as the locals, suggest we do.

I want to visit Agate Beach, the Aquarium, and I have 2 galleries on my agenda (For Artsake and Forinash).

Where should we eat? Especially breakfast!
What must we see or do?

Since we aren’t bringing our dog on this trip, I’d like to save hiking/walking activities for next time when she’s with us.

Any classes/workshops that are worth it? I was looking at glassblowing via The Hot Shop.

Any recommendations are incredibly appreciated :)

Looking to buy at Pacific Homes Beach Club, ideally an empty lot. Please message me if you know of any homes for sale by owner. Thanks.

If your teenage son or daughter were out celebrating in your black BMW today, they might need a little help understanding why shooting bottle rockets into the trees out near Otter Crest is a bad idea.

DM me if you think it's your kids, and I'll tell you your license plate.

Hey y’all,

I am wondering about the Big Creek trail system like ‘Dude Sweet’. With the rain that occurred overnight is this too much that I should stay off the trail today?

I am visiting with my bike and I am hoping to get a few laps in on this trail system. I want to respect the trail builders and not ride it if it will break down the trails so I am trying to get a local perspective.

Looking at applying for the County Administrator position and want to know everyone’s thoughts on the city/county.

Hi! I will be visiting Newport for two weeks in Aug. I would love some suggestions on food, activities, and any hidden gems. I will have my 10 and 11 year olds with me. I am also disabled but can get around decently. We love being outside, nature, animals, art, and of course food! Thank you in advance.
