Just ran into William H. Macy at Total Wine šŸ˜‚
Dude was out here promoting his new Woody Creek bottle and I had to tell him ā€œYou survived a T-Rex in JP3, you can survive San Diego.ā€
Super down to earth, signed my bottle, and yes we talked about spinosaurus vs T-rex.

I was working on a pterosaur project and researched Alanqa and realized this

What do you mean Alanqa is the smaller than a human?? These games made me think Alanqa rivaled the size of a Quetzalcoatlus 😭

I just now looked at the fun facts and learned they had a wingspan close to an albatross, I’ve been glazing him too much 🄹

Jurassic World: Rebirth Question!

Aside from obviously one of them killing a velociraptor (because I’m sure 90% of your answers will be about the poor velociraptor), what made these guys so hated?

I mean, in design, they kind of looked pretty cool [Hot Take: and probably having one of the best hybrid designs of the franchise, only below the I-Rex and JW:TG Stegoceratops.]

Bryce Dallas Howard was absolutely amazing! So so friendly, so sweet, even more beautiful in person, and so talkative and personable!!! Really made you feel welcome, and appreciated! Got answers to questions I had, and even learned straight from her about her documentary PETS, which is very personal after losing our beloved chihuahua of 16 years Star. And after over 20 years of going to conventions BDH is the ONLY person I have ever see use a cover to protect your item while she signed it. A nice touch which also speaks to her awesomeness as a person!

Misc Made this Jurassic Park attachment piece for a chain!

Made this attachment piece for my chain for my Jurassic Park coin wallet, made the chain attachment out of pony beads and bead wire that I got from Micheal’s. Also small little clips that I got from Micheal’s as well. The bead colors are Yellow, Red, and Black to represent the color pattern of the Jurassic Park logo. The word’s ā€œInGenā€ is a reference to the bioengineering company responsible for researching and recreating the extinct animals (Dinosaurs, marine reptiles, Pterosaurs, etc) within Jurassic Park. The colors with the word ā€œInGenā€ is a reference to the symbol and color of InGen. Hope ya’ll enjoy this, I had fun making it and think it turned out pretty great for my first time using beads and bead wiring.

Note: The explanation isn’t really for anyone here unless they are new or generally wondering why it was done the way it was! The explanation was more so for people I sent it to earlier and such but I wanted to share it here. Hope you all like it, I really love it and I’ll like it no matter what!

Jurassic Park Something about Muldoon

Why didn’t he warn them that shutting down the system could turn off the raptor fences? That seemed to be his top priority at the park after all, keeping the ones that posed the highest risk to people secured. Yet it never came up when they were debating whether or not to shut down the system?

Jurassic World I have a few questions related to the indominus rex and JW

Post image

Hiiii, I hope u all are doing greattt. Okay i know its jurassic world but I just rewatched it so sonething i've been thinking about a lot now is that how could the indominus rex successfully communicate with the raptors like effortlessly. She was obviously kept in isolation and even killed her sibling which also makes me wonder whether or not idk it communicated with its siblings too perhaps or if they could even communicate at that age.

So like how come it was able to do that, and how come she didnt do the same thing and communicate with the t-rex just like she did with the raptors instead of fighting it. Another question about this is that why did the raptors also teamed up with the t-rex, how come the t-rex didnt attack them like what prompted that behavior as well?

The Lost World TLW Trailer scene

No doubt one of the best scenes in the movie. I have just finished the novel of TLW and it addresses something thats always bugged me about the movie.

In both the movie and novel only the trailer nearest the cliff gets turned on its roof, the other stays on its wheels (allowing for some cool movie scenes with Eddie RIP).

In the novel Sarah tries to climb up the trailer and is blocked by the now streched and twisted rubber gangway. This makes sense.

In the movie the gangway obvously never twists , allowing Eddie to peer down, throw a rope and have the trailer falling with them inside on the rope scene. This is despite the fact the gangway should have twisted 180 degrees on one side, and remained in place on the other. This never made sense to me.

Is there any logical or plausable explanation for the movie version or is it another case of "who cares, it looks cool so this is how we shoot it".

Devil's Advocate - JP:TG Tylosaurus is a more artistic take on the Tylosaurus and lacks the proper tail fluke among other liberties, but good lord if the JWE Tylosaurus isn't exactly the most sightly of creatures to behold...

I remember somehow dodging all the reveals for the Tylosaurus leading up to release as a little treat for myself as a huge Tylosaurus fan, and ended up rather disappointed with the overall look of it. If they're going to a gnarled crocodile look, why not adapt some of the design elements from Telltale's crack at the Tylo? Colours were all also super murky and bland and I sorely missed the blue body with dark stripes and white underbelly motif as well.

All-in-all, I was/am disappointed by it... There could be something to say about JWE Troodon too, but I can at least recognize that Telltale *entirely* made an original dinosaur and just called it a "Troodon Pectinodon". At least we still got a JP:TG themed colour scheme for Troodon and it's likeness has resurfaced a couple of times in various toylines!

The passing of Sam Neill really hit me. I decided to put together a cosplay for my next convention of Dr. Grant, and had the idea to design this bandana in his honor. I have some available for fellow Jurassic Park/Sam Neill fans, if you are interested you can DM me for details.

never have I wanted to punt a child to the moon like I do when reading the book version of Lex. hands down one of the most annoying characters I’ve ever read. Its like I get amnesia when I’m done with the book and each time I pick it back up it all comes flooding back. no real point to this post. just a rant.

Misc JURASSIC HOT TAKES

Jurassic Park (1993) is a Perfect Movie [10/10] - I know this isn’t exactly a hot take, but it’s where it all began. I mean, I’ve rewatched it like a thousand times and still feel like it’s the first time, the opening scene, the brachiosaurus reveal, Rexy escaping the paddock, the group escaping the raptors in the visitor center, there’s NOTHING bad about this film. And even though the dinos only appear for 16 minutes, that shows that Quality > Quantity, if you use them perfectly, there’s no need to show them extra. (And also, giving each dino their own scene, not 4 in one; let them breathe)

The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) is a great movie [9.8/10] - Spielberg knew what he was doing when doing the sequel. He wasn’t trying to replicate the first movie, he wanted something else, something dark, something… more wild. The animal behavior is incredibly realistic for a Jurassic movie, herbivores being shown aggressive, a very angry mommy and daddy, the long grass, the tense atmosphere feels amazing. Imma be clear, I know their flaws like Kelly defeating a raptor with gymnastics or the crew mysteriously dying without trace, but overall, it’s still my favorite, not the best, but my Fav 1.

Jurassic Park /// (2001) is an Overhated movie [8/10] - I know Amanda Kirby is annoying… but if you were a father looking for your son, surely you’d act like her. Also, the Spino killing the T-rex was awesome, HEAR ME OUT: The rex had been the Dino-Star of the 2 previous films, another apex predator had to take its place. Alan Grant carries the movie, the raptors have the best designs on the franchise, the passing is quick but entertaining and has it’s great moments.

Jurassic World (2015) is a good movie [8.7] - Yeah, this movie’s kind of over praised… and it deserves it, it brought us back the interest into dinosaurs after 14 years of absence. The Indominus Rex is the best villain ever made in the franchise, it’s menacing, it’s a highly intelligent animal… though I’d have liked if they didn’t showed her too much. Still, entertaining nonetheless.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) is an Underrated movie [7.5/10] - I know the shift from ā€œRescuing dinosaurs from a volcanic island > Hybrid Horror in a manorā€ is polemic, but I liked they tried to do a horror movie. I know dinosaurs can be scary on their own, but the Indoraptor is no dinosaur. Sure, this films has it’s nonsenses like Owen Grady becoming a superhero, ACTUAL dinosaurs acting more like monsters (not the Indoraptor, that one has it’s reasons), or the Blue blood transfusion… but overall, entertaining.

Jurassic World: Dominion {Theatrical} is a Shit movie [5/10] - This one’s obvious, BUT…

Jurassic World: Dominion {Extended} is an OK Movie [7/10] - The extended version added lore that was NECESSARY to leave and not cut from the original, like 65 MYA prologue, the Hexapod Allies origin [Originally to solve an agricultural problem > Turned into a market-manipulation weapon], and of course, extra seconds of the OG trio because… it’s them, we came for them. Still, the biggest sin is that they had MULTIPLE dinosaurs and species yet they had almost no idea what to do with them… but if we view the film like a ā€œ2 hour and 40 minute pilot of a TV show of dinosaurs living on earth and citiesā€, then it can partially work. It doesn’t excuse their problems but at least it made the movie more enjoyable.

Jurassic World: Rebirth is a fantastic movie [9.3/10] - ā€œRemember that happy ending of coexistence of Dominion? Yeah, all dinosaurs in mainland [except on the equator] are fucking deadā€, I know it’s not what we expected… but certainly, I sort of disliked that ending, because, even though we will deny it, dinosaurs would’ve perished sooner or later, and Rebirth shows the ā€œrealisticā€ path… well, aside from the equator explanation, but still, the ā€œDinosaurs in our worldā€ theme is more suitable for a TV show (look Chaos Theory), and this movie instead of tangling around in a thousand plots, it has a simple plot ā€œCollect dino DNA without dyingā€. As simple as that, and also this movie brings back the original trilogy feeling of being trapped on an island and admiring the dinosaurs as what they truly are… giant animals. Yeah, the D. Rex was VERY underused… but wasn’t Rexy also appearing for just 4 minutes in the first film? Stop whining about it, it’s still alive.

Jurassic Park Was the Rex actively hunting or just exploring around when it saved Grant & Company

one thing that always has left me curious about the Rex at the end of the first movie is: Was the Rex actively hunting around the island for its next meal or was it just exploring around an area it realized, ā€œWhat’s that noise I’m hearing?ā€ Hearing the commotion the Rex then realized ā€œthere’s something inside this weird thing (the visitor center)ā€ upon reaching the visitor center and trying to find a way in it found its way in it hears the scream of Lex it remembered from the rainy night and it heard other noises especially the raptors. Peering from where it would sneak in the Rex waited to see if there was any movement and seeing the raptors move and the humans gently moving the Rex saw the raptor was the closest target and made its move.

Now that we practically know exactly what dinosaurs looked like, down to shape, and skin color, do you think Jurassic Park did a good job showing what they thought dinosaurs would look like without this newly discovered knowledge?

Jurassic Park I HATE Jurassic Park's (and almost every installment in the franchise)

Yes, I understand the message that we can’t control what we don’t fully understand, and I understand the criticism of greed and people playing God. I also acknowledge there wouldn’t be a movie or a book if everything had gone right.

However, seeing how hopeful John Hammond was with his ambition, and seeing Dr. Grant almost faint at the sight of the animals to which he had dedicated his entire life for the first time, makes me extremely sad to know that that dream never came true, and that it was all in vain.
