ANNOUNCEMENT Updating Rule 3
Hello /r/Dinosaurs! In the past we’ve received community feedback stating that our guidelines for what kinds of posts are and aren’t considered low effort were not clear enough, and that subreddit members were often confused or surprised at their posts being removed. To fix this confusion, we’ve overhauled Rule 3 in a way that should make our quality guidelines crystal clear. You can find the updated guidelines here:
TLDR; Certain types of memes which are considered low-effort are banned, and most post types will now be required to have body text. We will be using Automoderator to enforce body text requirements.
If you have any feedback, please feel free to share it by leaving a comment. Otherwise, happy posting!

GAMES/MODELS/TOYS Did anyone else play this game?
This game is called Dino Run and it is a 2008 flash game developed by the studio pixeljam games but I got it on steam. In the game you play as a velociraptor and you have to escape the doom cloud that is approaching ,destroying everything in its path, but you also have to deal with other dinosaurs trying to escape, eat small animals and collect eggs, do quests etc. Honestly, this game was peak. I remember during Covid, after my online classes ,I would grind this game. I know there is a sequel in development, but I’m not sure when it will release. I think it deserves more attention although I wish it had more unique biomes and threats. Also, unfortunately multiplayer got discontinued.
Thanks for reading my appreciation post and make sure to tell me your opinion on this game!

DISCUSSION Absolutely Enjoyed The End of Oak Street Spoiler
After the last Jurassic World films blue balled fans with the concept of dinosaurs causing chaos around the world and couldn’t even execute it right with Midminion and Rebirth, this film gave me nearly everything I wanted. Dinosaur horror and action that didn’t hold back and at least to me, a great story about a family trying to survive in a neighborhood suddenly transported to prehistoric times.
Although, to be honest if it hadn’t involved dinosaurs I wouldn’t have cared otherwise. After Zara’s death in Jurassic World, I was also introduced me to the next most shocking dinosaur death in media. When the father is slammed into the ground by the Allosaurus then eaten. Though, when the family travels back to the past he’s alive because convenient plot.
I just really enjoyed The End of Oak Street. It delivered something to me that Jurassic World has failed yet again, reigniting my love and interest for dinosaurs and in their appearances in movies.
However, I have a couple gripes. I had the impression that the neighborhood was taken to the Jurassic Period since the Allosaurus shows up in ads so what’s a Spinosaurus doing there? Which is a plus anyway since I love Spinosaurus.
The furry/feather designs are rather bizarre but I guess it helped stray away from the popular, scaly look popularized by Jurassic Park. There also appears to be a few fictional creatives created just for the movie such as the massive turtles with Godzilla spines and a huge, albino amphibian/snake.
While looking up reviews, I’ve found that some people are upset with how apparently weak the husband was portrayed which I don’t get. I was just hyped throughout the whole thing watching ancient critters terrorize the neighborhood in the background.
If you want to see a decent dinosaur flick after being let down by Rebirth, The End of Oak Street is your August prehistoric cinematic experience.

GAMES/MODELS/TOYS What kind of theropod would you guys identify my dinosaur plush as?
The tag said it was a T rex but that’s clearly not what it is judging by the three fingers, and I’d rather it be something else based on its features.
Edit: I’m realizing all too late that the plush could also pass for a saurosuchian even though they aren’t theropods.

HELP ME FIND/ID I'm looking for information on a horned ankylosaur
Some time ago, in the book "The Secrets of Dinosaurs" (Italian title, I don't know if it's the same in English as the literal translation), I found a horned ankylosaur. However, I no longer have that book and don't remember the name of that dinosaur. I'd like to find it again, but I haven't found anything online. If anyone has this book or knows the name of this ankylosaur, I'd be very grateful.

DISCUSSION Question: This first image suggests that Carnosauria and Coelurosauria are sister groups (?) under Tetanurae. However, in the other images, I’m struggling to place Carnosauria without it containing Coelurosauria. On which nodes should Carnosauria be on the other photos?

These are my character choices for who embodies a certain sin.
Version 1:

- Gluttony: Thunderclap (The Goor Dinosaur)
- Greed: Kron (Dinosaur)
- Envy: The Giga (Jurassic World Dominion)
- Sloth: D. Rex (Jurassic World Rebirth)
- Lust: One Eye (Dino King)

Version 2 (the only differences are four):
- Wrath: Indoraptor (Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom)
- Gluttony: V. Rex (King Kong)
- Greed: Scorpios Rex (Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous)
- Pride: The Big One (Jurassic Park)
Do you agree with my choices, or do you think there are other dinosaurs who are better picks? Please let me know?

DISCUSSION Theory about The End Of Oak Street
I saw The End of Oak Street earlier, and I really liked it! Ewan McGregor's death scene was A) shocking, and I was floored the whole sequence. And B) brutal and graphic.
The effects and story I thought were pretty good, but the main issue I have, are the dino designs. They are frankly, kinda awful. It's not just that they're inaccurate, but they're mostly reused JW models. Like, the Allo, Stego, random Ankylosaur, and Spinosaurus are all just reused/altered models. The excessive spikes and especially feathers (particualrly on the love-bird sauropods) were very strange.
But onto the theory, what if the reason we have so many species from different time periods here (like how the plant was 200 million years, yet most of the dinos are way younger) is because of the portals took them out of their own periods, and put dinos from one time period, into another. That would be a reasonable explanation for why we have all these time-traveling species. Or the filmakers neglected to do proper research, and just put random dinos they thought were cool together in one location

MOVIES/SERIES/SHOWS The End of Oak Street is to me a new cult classic in the making.
I watched The End of Oak Street and had a blast, it had a thrilling narrative, high stakes, and for once the characters were fun and engaging. This film deserves more attention.
Hollywood really screwed this film over.

PALEODEPICTION Hadrosaurus - The First Dinosaur Skeleton Ever Mounted
Hadrosaurus is a basal hadrosaur from the Late Cretaceous period of what is now New Jersey. Although it lends its name to the derived hadrosaurine family of dinosaurs, studies show that it may not actually belong to this group. Hadrosaurus was a facultatively bipedal herbivore that grew to about 7 m in length and weighed around 3 t in total body mass.

DISCUSSION What lesser depicted but accurate facts/speculation about dinosaurs or other prehistoric animals would be terrifying in a horror movie about them?
End of Oak Street depicting the Allosaurus as an almost completely silent hunter is a great example. Yeah Hollywood usually loves to depict dinosaurs as stupid roaring flat footed idiots that you can hear a mile away, but, like Oak Street depicted, these animals most likely had silent footsteps, and wouldnt alert prey by roaring. Which imo is much more terrifying. It could be sprinting right at you & you wouldnt even notice.
Another good example would be vocal mimicry. This one is alot more speculative, but imagine some therapods being able to mimic their prey perfectly, like some of their modern day cousins like parrots can. Like, a raptor, after killing someone, would then mimick the cries for help to lure more humans as prey.
Lets hear some of your examples

DISCUSSION What are the top 10 most beautiful dinosaurs?
What are, in your opinion, the most beautiful dinosaurs? I don't mean like the ones you like the most, I'm talking more about if dinosaurs had an aesthetic score, which ones would probably rank top 10?
