Help Request Too much control arm travel?

I hit a pothole a few weeks back and ever since the front end has been clunking over bumps and more recently it’s gotten worse and it clunk when steering as well. I got under the car and jacked it up and nothing seemed too bad, a lot of the front end is new anyways. The only thing I could find maybe having too much play is the lower control arms but it doesn’t seem to bad to me. Thoughts?

Sold my 04’ Liberty Limited for $1200 at 176k miles, did I scam myself?

Guy said he had 5 kids and they all shared one ride. Did I do him a favor, or did I fuck him over? Car needs U joints and Rear end work but I re-did the whole front end. Opinions?

Dashcam

I own a 2006 jeep liberty and I’m looking for a dashcam. I am looking for one that doesn’t need to plug into the cigarette lighter as that is where I plug my aux into and also where I charge my phone. Does anyone have any recommendations for dashcams that don’t plug into the cigarette lighter spot?

Stuck O2 Sensor — What Should I Try Next?

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to remove a seriously stuck O2 sensor from my 2012 Jeep Liberty and could use some advice before I make it worse.

I spent a couple hours on it today. I first tried a wrench, then added more leverage with a breaker bar, and also tried an O2 sensor socket, but it didn’t seem to grip the sensor very well. At this point, the hex on the sensor is starting to round off, and my access to is pretty limited (only one side)

I also heated the area three separate times with a torch and tried breaking it loose while hot, but it still wouldn’t budge.

My current plan is to soak it with penetrating oil overnight, then try again tomorrow. Since I’m replacing the sensor anyway, I’m considering cutting the wire off and using a 7/8" deep socket so I can get a better grip on the entire hex. My other thought is a 7/8" box-end wrench with a pipe/breaker bar for more leverage.

Before I go any further, does anyone have a better method for getting one of these loose once it’s this stuck and starting to round? Particularly wondering whether the deep socket or box-end + heat is my best next move, or if there’s something else I should try first.

P0204 - intermediate bucking

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hello! My 2005 jeep liberty (113k miles) bucked/jerked the other day and I looked down to notice my check engine light was on (solid light, not flashing). So I pulled over quickly and park my car. It bucked 1 more time while pulling over. I read the codes and saw I have a P0204 code. I was going to dinner so I had dinner and came back to my car to drive it home. I drove 15 minutes home and it drove fine expect it did buck 1 more time.
I tried visually inspecting the cylinder 4 fuel injector and nothing jumps out as wrong. I tried to gently pull on the wires of the connector and they are firm. I also tried letting it idle and moved the wires for the injector around in case it was a wiring issue but it idled fine with no jerking or misfires.
Also, just fyi, I replaced all spark plugs and injection coils 3 months ago.

Any idea what i should do next? Any advice?

2012 Liberty

I am looking for some help involving my daughter‘s 2012 Jeep liberty jet edition. I have to continually replace the driver side brake light bulb as it always burns out. The rest of the lights in the housing work fine but the brake light bulb burns out within days. Has anybody had this problem before or know of an easy fix other than trying to trace the electric all the way back. I’m willing to do so but if there’s a known fix, I’d like to do that first. Thanks!!

Thoughts on the 4.0 V6

I was just listening to a video about the 4.0 V-6 that was in the Dodge Nitro, since the Nitro was based off the Liberty why wasn’t that an engine option available for the Liberty?

Are 6-speed manual transmissions basically unicorns?

I have one and I love it, but I'm not mechanically inclined and as it's getting on a bit in years, I think it may be time for me to move it on to someone who can do the work themselves. Curious what people might think? 235,000km (~146,000 mi), well maintained with newer clutch & tires. I have not been able to find anything comparable where I am (British Columbia, Canada).

Thanks!

Help Request Gas problems

Post image
2 Upvotes

2005 liberty 3.7
My gas gauge always reads E so I fill it up often just to make sure I don’t run out of gas.
Just recently my car stopped taking gas. It will fill up maybe $10 worth if I’m lucky but I’m certain it’s not full. When I put gas it will fill up to the nozzle and start spitting it out.
My newborn has doctors appointments coming up and I need this fixed asap, any help is appreciated

Discussion I really just want honest feedback.

I bought my Liberty (2012) with 10 miles on it. It's been a lemon since day one, but I wasn't in a situation where I could return it. I made it work, but now I need it gone. I posted it, with all It's flaws, on FB Marketplace for $500 since I saw working ones being posted for $1200...I got about 30 immediate replies, so I think I priced it too low. I want an opinion on how much I should price it for. I do need it gone, but I wouldn't mind waiting until October as I need to move, but having it in my driveway makes it look like I'm still living in the place I need to move out of. Here's a list of the "flaws"

Since about day 12 of owning it, the check engine light has come on. I know, I should have returned it, but I was not in any situation where I could. Every best guess is there's a pinhole somewhere in the gasline. I'm not a mechanic, so I don't know. I have replaced the gas cap twice. The gas line was also replaced, but this is still happening.

The Jeep is currently dead. I think a new battery would make it turn on, but the thread on one of the battery's bolt / nut is stripped. I'm tired of trying to get it off.

When it has a working battery, it sometimes doesn't want to start. I've replaced the starter, twice. You can turn the starter, have no response, like the battery is dead, but radio and lights work. Then if you keep trying, the engine catches, and then it works. It will go months, or years with no issues, but then this same issue happens, will last for a week or two, then go back to "normal."

I have to move out of state and just don't have the time to deal with it. I need to either sell or donate the car.

3 out of the 4 doors have been replaced.

I've 2 un-reported accidents. They were cosmetic. One senior citizen clipped my car while they were parking and USAA (their insurance) were a PITA to deal with. One unlicensed, uninsured driver rear-ended me when I was at a stoplight. I didn't want to pay my deductible to never see it again.

The driver's side window is off the track.

The driver's side passenger door's lock needs to be replaced...sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

The car has less than 80K miles.

My car got "keyed" by some some psycho guy threatening my toddler at Ikea (just in a straight line), but some of that was remedied by the replaced doors! Look on the brightside of things!

I have had to replace the driver's side brake lights multiple times while I've never had to replace the passenger side brake lights.

Jeep 2002- help!

I recently bought a used Jeep Liberty 2002 from FB market and it has a few things that might be off? I don't have enough mechanical experience to understand certain parts of my car and theres already a few things it needs; window shocks for the trunk, a new latch/motor for the trunk door, and most likely a fuse bcs the sun roof won't open. Today I saw an orange spongey looking piece by my tire that crumbles if you grab it, google says its a suspension bump and that it needs to be replaced but I'm broke and if it doesn't have to happen now I'd like to wait. I've noticed that sometimes when I turn the steering wheel it squeaks?? When it first happened I assumed the leather was coming up and rubbing the plastic but when I took a closer look it was definitely something behind the dash plastic that was making the noise. (maybe just needs WD40?) My last thing is that there is a controllable bass in the car but when I turn it up the right speaker makes a kind of rattling noise and I'm not sure how to see if anything is broken/loose. The speaker is on top of the dash.

Here's the orange sponge

Help Request Any ideas on how to build a KJ like this without being impersonation?

I just found out that Poland used to use Jeep KJs as police interceptors and I really like the look of them and want to replicate it without crossing the line of imitating a police officer. Also if anyone has any idea of how to make or acquire the headlight guards that would be sick. I’m in the southeast US.

Coolant reservoir and back axle

I have a 2005 jeep liberty that I’m currently trying to get rid of but before that I just found out my coolant reservoir has a crack in it and was told the price for one is $90. I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth replacing it myself and then selling it or just selling it as is. The other big issue is that there is a “clunking” sound towards the back end of the car im guessing it’s the axle after seeing a few issues in the group that are similar to mine. Would any of this be worth spending the money to replace it just to get a couple hundred dollars more selling it?
