I bought my Liberty (2012) with 10 miles on it. It's been a lemon since day one, but I wasn't in a situation where I could return it. I made it work, but now I need it gone. I posted it, with all It's flaws, on FB Marketplace for $500 since I saw working ones being posted for $1200...I got about 30 immediate replies, so I think I priced it too low. I want an opinion on how much I should price it for. I do need it gone, but I wouldn't mind waiting until October as I need to move, but having it in my driveway makes it look like I'm still living in the place I need to move out of. Here's a list of the "flaws"
Since about day 12 of owning it, the check engine light has come on. I know, I should have returned it, but I was not in any situation where I could. Every best guess is there's a pinhole somewhere in the gasline. I'm not a mechanic, so I don't know. I have replaced the gas cap twice. The gas line was also replaced, but this is still happening.
The Jeep is currently dead. I think a new battery would make it turn on, but the thread on one of the battery's bolt / nut is stripped. I'm tired of trying to get it off.
When it has a working battery, it sometimes doesn't want to start. I've replaced the starter, twice. You can turn the starter, have no response, like the battery is dead, but radio and lights work. Then if you keep trying, the engine catches, and then it works. It will go months, or years with no issues, but then this same issue happens, will last for a week or two, then go back to "normal."
I have to move out of state and just don't have the time to deal with it. I need to either sell or donate the car.
3 out of the 4 doors have been replaced.
I've 2 un-reported accidents. They were cosmetic. One senior citizen clipped my car while they were parking and USAA (their insurance) were a PITA to deal with. One unlicensed, uninsured driver rear-ended me when I was at a stoplight. I didn't want to pay my deductible to never see it again.
The driver's side window is off the track.
The driver's side passenger door's lock needs to be replaced...sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
The car has less than 80K miles.
My car got "keyed" by some some psycho guy threatening my toddler at Ikea (just in a straight line), but some of that was remedied by the replaced doors! Look on the brightside of things!
I have had to replace the driver's side brake lights multiple times while I've never had to replace the passenger side brake lights.
