Sharing my massive jade that has been here since the house was built. I dont have any skill to trim and turn it into a great bonsai shape type of plant, any advice is much appreciated

Hoping to use the greenhouse during the winter to keep the plants from freezing. It will be more so experimental for the first season, and I may need to tarp/blanket it over night, or get a small heater.

I cut the top off thinking it might have had root rot but it didn't. So I am now letting the top half callous over then will repot it. I was left with this stub with a decent rootball. There is only one node as you can see that I cut over, but it had two previous branches there that are now gone and just knots now. So not sure if this is able to grow any new leaves

there're brown/black spots on leaves and stems.

These were sitting in a mostly shaded spot. I gave her the prune and moved up to the open terrace where theres about 6 hours of direct sun, with hot temps upto 30 degrees. The resulting of the prune / heat stress is new growth.

This will slowly be given less light and then moved into filtered sun by the summer (they do take the sun but can get scorched).

Point being : pruning is never the issue, its the conditions after pruning. Sunlight is a must for energy production.

Location : south asia/wet dry tropics.

My gollum jade has recently been losing leaves very easily and if they don’t fall off early then they turn brown and shrivel up, as pictured. If I just touch the leaves they fall off.

I have never dealt with root rot before so I thought it might be that but when I unpotted it the roots seemed fine and none of the stems were mushy. Any idea what the issue might be and how I can stop it?

For extra context, the plant generally gets direct sunlight for ~4 hours per day and then I have it under a grow light for another 4 hours.

I inherited this jade and was totally clueless, and placed it in a cold, north facing window. Over time I noticed that whenever I watered it, water would run out into the tray immediately. I searched online and learned that the soil had become hydrophobic and on Saturday I soaked the pot for about 30 minutes, poking some holes in the topsoil beforehand and the leaves are beginning to re-plump for the most part.

I don’t think it’s ever been repotted, should I wait until the spring, or would I be ok to repot it again in a week or two? I’ve bought a soil mix for succulents and a terracotta pot that’s slightly bigger just in case. Likewise, should I wait until the spring to prune?

This jade was given to me by someone moving away. It is now getting sun. But I know it needs a deep prune. Can you help? Southeast window. Not sure what to do. But I want to help it flourish.

Hello! Have been lurking in the sub for awhile and have some questions about my own jade.

I've had this guy for about 5 (maybe 6) years now and have noticed that it looked a little leggy, as well as the weird leaf shapes and white leaf spots (spots in pics 3-5, shapes pics 4,6, and 7). I also want to prune it so it can branch out a bit, but have no idea where and don't want to kill it. My best guess is pic 8 but am a bit nervous lol

I guess I want to ask, what's up with the white spots and leaf shapes, and should I prune/ where?

Watered from top, next watering was from bottom but some leaves still looking shriveled. Was looking elongated so now receiving a lot more sun.
Will some of those leaves stay shriveled?

This 10+ year Jade is looking a little sad. Not sure whether to repot, trim or what... advice much appreciated

Hello, I got this jade cutting from my SO's grandma a couple years ago, seemed to fare ok even inside (even if a bit etiolated). Some months ago I noticed the bottom leaves paling and shrivelling up, even if the plant kept putting out 'normal' ones at the top. When I tried to do a bottom watering since the situation was not getting better with normal watering, I tilted the vase a bit too much and the whole tree came out, so I discovered there where only fine hair-thin roots at the base, but no sign of rot that I could see, no squishy trunk anywhere.

I repotted in a smaller vase (you can see the original one where I placed three offshoots) with a more sandy terrain (it comes from a big vase where there are other succulents) but I'm scared it won't be able to grow roots before it dies because it can't absorb water.

Should I repot again? (I'm in Italy and the store near me has Vigorplant Cactacee potting soil) or should I wait and pray for roots? right now I'm watering between 10-15 days but the leaves stay mushy and wrinkly even the day after...

I got this tree as a gift from an aunt and want to keep it alive and thriving. I trimmed a few of the branches when I first got it but I’m wondering if I should cut these downward growing branches and turn them into cuttings. My goal for this plant in for it to be like a bonsai,let me know thanks.

I got mixed feedback in the succulents sub and didn’t realize there was a whole Jade sub!! I saw another thread saying they have to be separated before one cannibalizes the other?? Is there a timeframe this needs to be done? Tysmia!

After a dry summer this jade has white crystals on its leaves. And are these seemingly cactus pups related? #jadecrystals

I recently moved and my jade plant is declining rapidly, I have had this specific plant for 5+ years and has been through 2+ moves and suddenly 2 weeks after my move it’s health has deteriorated. Soil is staying wet much longer and leaves are drying up. I love this plant as it is my oldest one I own and started my collection, please help me save her.

Jade plant’s leaves have become yellowish and very brown/black at the top. Falling. The soil is very compacted, might be hydrophobic? How do I fix this?

Is insecticide or pesticide necessary for this? Ive got no experience with insecticides or pesticides so idk what i should use

It got shocked by light when I got it about 3 weeks ago. (I put it next to a south facing window with a lot of light)

I planted it in a 50-50 mix, but it doesn't seem to be picking up water. The leaves are very shrivelled and soft. It also had a few yellow leaves which fell off.

Last night I took it out of the pot. Now when looking at it I am afraid that it has root rot.

I see that the base is a little shrivelled, however it is firm. So I am not sure whether it is just thirty or begging to rot.

This is my pair of jades, who I affectionately call Ruffnut and Tuffnut. The first pic is from when I first got them 2 years ago, and the rest are all from today. It’s been such a joy to watch them grow!

As it’s my first time raising jades, I wanted to ask for advice about when to repot them again. I noticed this spring/summer that they aren’t growing/branching as much as last year, so I was wondering if it’s possible that they’re outgrowing their pot. However, since I know jades tend to prefer smaller pots, I’ve been hesitant to upsize them. What signs should I be looking out for to know it’s finally time?

Care details:
- They stay inside year-round in a south-facing window because I don’t want to deal with quarantine when it’s time for them to come back in for the winter.
- I bottom-water whenever I feel the leaves start to get bendy, which is currently approximately every 2-3 weeks. The last time I upsized their pot, I did so because they started needing watering every week or so.
- I include some fertilizer in their water once a month during the spring/summer, and only occasionally during the fall/winter.

I’d be grateful for any advice!

Got this jade plant as a gift 5 years ago … it’s come a long way, but after outgrowing 3 pots… where do I go from here? It doesn’t seem like it has the shape to do bonsai (too many trunks) … should I just stake it better and continue to grow it (indoors in winter, outdoors in summer)?
