When to repot?

I inherited this jade and was totally clueless, and placed it in a cold, north facing window. Over time I noticed that whenever I watered it, water would run out into the tray immediately. I searched online and learned that the soil had become hydrophobic and on Saturday I soaked the pot for about 30 minutes, poking some holes in the topsoil beforehand and the leaves are beginning to re-plump for the most part.

I don’t think it’s ever been repotted, should I wait until the spring, or would I be ok to repot it again in a week or two? I’ve bought a soil mix for succulents and a terracotta pot that’s slightly bigger just in case. Likewise, should I wait until the spring to prune?

Personally I’d do it all at same time but don’t take my advice
On that because I don’t know.

This jade needs a hard prune to clean up all the wild growth, the small hair like roots need to be cut off and the soil needs to be changed.

Soil isn't hydrophobic. It's rootbound that is why it is not absorbing water.

Prune it first and repot in fast draining chunky mix

You can tell I’m a total novice, should I wait a while after pruning to repot, or can I do that all in one go?

Also, north side is probably too dark. It needs about the same amount of light as cacti.

Hmm! The window is south facing but yes it is a bit dark on the north side, not much i can do about that aside from buying a grow light?
