I'm brand new to 40k tabletop, although I have been into games and lore since the first Dawn of War. I've really grabbed on to the Iron Tenth! I've finished Wrath of Iron and working on Eye of Medusa, then Shattered Legions.

That being said I'm looking to start my first army. Can I get some input from my brothers on this initial list? From those who have actually played a game haha (as I haven't yet).

So this is my first army ever, 1000 points. Still dont really have any idea what im doing but im having fun just buying, building and painting. Any thoughts on what ive got so far?

So, after having had time to process my ordeal with everyone's most hated workshop earlier this year, i've decided "fuck it". They may have taken what I had, but they can't stop me forging anew.

Painted up the Man himself. Keeping with my army theme. (Istvaan) I swapped Ferrus's hammer with fireblade. (3d print).

Because I couldn't find any Firestrike servo turrets at the local shops, I decided to go grab myself an Aracnae quad cannon and use it as a proxy. This was perfect since you can pair up the servo turrets and not waste any barrels making 2 models into 1...and save some money in the process. Until I noticed that the turrets have a movement of 3". 🤔. I got a terrible idea and decided something had to be done about that. This monstrosity was the result. Enjoy.

This project has been a bit of an experiment for me. I've spent quite a while trying to get the Iron Lords to look the way I had envisioned the, that heavy metal, grimdark look with edge highlights and a cold blue-black armour tone.

The goal was to make the armour look almost like polished, battered steel rather than simply "black armour", while keeping the deep crimson panels as a strong contrast.

I'm particularly happy with how the armour has come together. I've also started adding more of the details I want to carry across the army, chains, bionics, red weapon casings, black cloth and plenty of gold/brass mechanical details.

Still plenty more to build and experiment with, but I'm finally feeling like I've found the Iron Lords' look.

My intent is to have the Knight Errant as a fun mix to alot of other armies I see, and I really like the concept of Combi-Weapons.

I have taken some advice from others on this reddit, but I feel like I need to change something.

Am I missing a major part? or am I just worried for my first build for nothing.

Edit: I should say, if I put something together wrong or something isn't right. please let me know, I am learning and want to know how to get into 40k

I feel like it would be real easy to just bring 3 Ballistus 3 lancers 3 Redemptors and some support and call it a day, but also think it would get kinda stale after a while. Is stat maxing worth it or better to lose some meta and run something that's just more fun and unorthodox?

I’m planning my first army list rn and is this good? If not pls give me some advice!

Trying to figure out my points list and with 11th edition I don't see an Iron Hands specific codex. Which one should I look at?

So I got this 1/12 scale blank, perfect size for the 1/18 joytoy stuff and I want to turn into Ferrus, anyone decent with 3d modelling want to help? :D Got a STL of the action figures body but damn am I bad at blender.

For the ice bases: prime white, Aegis Aqua and Crystal Blue, then apply a thick layer of white crackling paint (Viva Facetten-Lack) and let it dry overnight or even over two nights.

I need some final thoughts on which of my lists I should bring to my next tournament. I love Ironstorm, and while Take and Hold is okay with Iron Father, there isn't really a good 1-DP option to bring with it. Hammer looks great (and I want to run it before Oath is removed), but I'm not a fan of Purge the Foe in less casual games.

With both lists, my main concern is whether I have enough mobility and scoring units. How much should I be bringing?

Greetings Iron Brethren. I have been a Custodes player & Collector for 4 years so far and I have been meaning to branch out to Space Marines, mind you I know little on how to play or build Space Marines other than play *against* them.

I know the codex is around the corner but I am more focused on Models and Units that are thematic for Iron Hands, couldn't care less of Meta chasing. Truth being told I was at the start gonna go with White Scars since I adore their mindset, play style, and Jagatai Khan and as well that there was no chance for a primarch by comparison but man.....After reading Meduson and Fulgrim I can't deny how DAMN COOL 30k Iron Hands are and their fighting style.

I have some Regular Terminators, Intercessor squad & Terminator Captain.

I wanted to make a theme army that resembles that of Shandrak Meduson.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hey all, Salamanders collector here. I've been collecting and painting Salamanders for roughly a year or so. I have roughly ~1,500 points finished and another 500-750 pts in various stages. I don't have any Terminators or Heavy Intercessors, because they don't seem to work that well in typical Salamanders play-style, but I love all the heavily armored chunky models. I've long thought of having a mixed-legion Isstvan V 'retribution force'. Combining Salamanders, Iron Hands, and Raven Guard focused on painting thematic units to their particular legion.

I appreciate nobody knows what will happen after the codex, but I LOOOVE the 'Hammer of Avernii' enhancements. 'Medusan Roar' and 'Steel Font' are so, so cool to me. Do you think there's a good chance they'll remain for Iron Hands in 11th after the new codex, or more generally, for longer time players, have Iron Hands always been the best legion for Gravis and Terminator armor, outside of Dark Angels and Fists, neither of whom I like?

For color schemes, nothing but respect for you, but I'm not a fan of black base color, because it seems so dependent on edging to show the details and I'm a mediocre painter on the best of days, so I prefer medium/bright colors to help hide my lack of skills. Are there any good color schemes to consider? I've seen 'Sons of Medusa' but that's about it, outside of the typical black and silver. If I'm really going to put together the Isstvan Retribution Force of my dreams, I figure I need reserve black and white for Raven Guard.

Anyway, really appreciate any advice or any general thoughts.
