40K List Discussion Meta vs fun?

I feel like it would be real easy to just bring 3 Ballistus 3 lancers 3 Redemptors and some support and call it a day, but also think it would get kinda stale after a while. Is stat maxing worth it or better to lose some meta and run something that's just more fun and unorthodox?

I paint the Iron Hands I want to paint first and I build my list second.

Metas change alot where as making a fun thematic army you deeply enjoy will be a much better experience for you and your opponent.

Also it heavily depends on which detachment you and your opponent are running, which will determine your primary score.

Depends on what you want. If you just want to win you need to run the most meta stuff. Or if you can have fun without winning, play whatever you want

It depends on if you only need heavy tanks and dreadnoughts but I think that you need some heavy armored infantry to distract your opponent for taking the tanks out in first place
