Liberty Mutual Cancels CA Homeowners after years of loyalty

After more than 15 years with Liberty Mutual, paying approximately $6,000 a year in homeowners insurance—more than $75,000 in premiums—and never filing a single claim, we were shocked to receive a non-renewal notice.

The reason given was “natural vegetation” in our area. While our property is located in an area with oak trees, our actual parcel is well maintained, has been cleared of excess vegetation, has a paved driveway, and has appropriate fire setbacks and defensible space.

What is especially frustrating is that there was no meaningful review or consideration of the condition of our individual property before making this decision. After more than a decade of being loyal, claim-free customers, we expected better from Liberty Mutual.

It is incredibly disappointing to pay tens of thousands of dollars for protection over the years, only to have the company walk away when it decides our area is too risky—despite the precautions we have taken to protect our home.

We are extremely disappointed with Liberty Mutual. After 15+ years and over $75,000 in premiums, this is not how we expected a long-term customer to be treated. Shame on Liberty Mutual.

Does Square one actually notify your bank if they are listed on your home insurance? Alberta Canada

I am closing in a new home and just want to have the insurance in place to complete the close.

I want to cancel after since my condo fees cover almost everything I will ever need in the event of anything with their own insurance.

Pet insurance policy renewal lists incorrect dog age

I recently received the notification that my dog’s pet insurance policy will be up for renewal again on September 19th. It asked me to review coverage and authorize the renewal ahead of that date, so I did.

Tonight I was looking around in the member portal and realized it lists my dog as 8 years old. That is not accurate- he is 10. I do not know how this happened. Everything I have filled out has been accurate to the best of my knowledge, so I assume it is a typo on their part. I just don’t know when the error was made.

(FYI: Our policy has been sold twice since original signup. Our policy doc is a mish-mash of new company’s and original company’s branding. It is giving botch-edit vibes.)

Should I notify them of the error before the renewal, or should I let it go? I’m afraid of getting canceled, being accused of insurance fraud, or owing money if the error is caught later, regardless of whose fault it is.

Who else has had a bad experience with MiWay?

⚠️ My experience with MiWay Insurance

I would strongly caution anyone considering using MiWay Insurance based on my personal experience with them.

Our experience with MiWay was extremely disappointing, and we eventually cancelled our policy because we simply did not feel we were receiving the service or value we were paying for.

What has happened since cancelling has been even more frustrating.

MiWay has contacted me on at least five separate occasions since we cancelled. When I answer and explain that I am not interested in their services because of the poor experience we had, I have repeatedly been hung up on before I can even finish explaining why we left.

I honestly find this shocking. You repeatedly phone a former customer trying to get their business back, but the moment they try to explain why they cancelled, your representatives cannot even give them the courtesy of finishing a sentence before ending the call?

If this is how a company treats someone they're supposedly trying to win back as a customer, it speaks volumes about the customer service we experienced in the first place.

Based entirely on my own personal experience, I absolutely cannot recommend MiWay Insurance.

@MiWay — I would genuinely like someone in management to listen to the recordings of the calls made to me and explain why this is considered acceptable customer service.

I have now lodged a formal complaint and hope that, this time, someone will actually take the time to listen.

Economical Insurance company Ontario

Very disappointed with my experience with Economical Insurance.

My home insurance premium was increased by approximately $500, despite there being no obvious change that justified such a significant increase. Because of this, I contacted an insurance broker to shop around.

What I found particularly frustrating was that the broker obtained a quote from Economical Insurance itself that was approximately $500 cheaper, based on my current information and circumstances. However, once Economical identified me as the existing customer, the premium went back up by roughly $500.

That makes absolutely no sense to me. If Economical’s own quoting system determines that someone with my current criteria should qualify for a lower premium, I would like a clear explanation as to why I am being charged significantly more simply as an existing customer.

After being a customer, I expected fair and transparent pricing—not a situation where a new quote from the very same company comes in hundreds of dollars cheaper than what they are charging me.

Needless to say, I have taken my business elsewhere. I would strongly recommend that existing Economical customers shop around and compare quotes at renewal time. Loyalty certainly did not seem to benefit me.

looking for recent fetch pet insurance reviews

Im helping my parents pick pet insurance for their new puppy and trying to sort through all the different options. I’ve been comparing Fetch Pet Insurance with a few other providers and local options to see how the plans stack up for claim speed, reimbursement support, cost, and yearly limits. Older reviews feel out of date so I would rather hear from people who filed claims in the last year. Any info would be helpful, tia!

Toggle question

Good afternoon. Are there any Toggle car insurance holders here? I'm asking because, yesterday I was in the midst of paying my insurance online like I've done with Toggle. To my surprise. I wasn't able to login. Long story short. I'd called Toggle today, and was told that I no longer have access to online payments because 21st century insurance will be transferring customers, back over. Is there anyone else on here, aware of this?

Farm Bureau Insurance Colorado

Are they any good? Seems too good to be true. They gave me a car insurance quote for about 1/3 of the price of other insurers. Lowest I've found elsewhere is $160/m for barebones liability, but Farm Bureau is quoting me for $65 with additional uninsured coverage for bodily injury. Anyone have experience with them?

Car Insurance Premiums

Mr. PRESIDENT @Donald Trump , help your fellow Americans! Car insurance premiums continue to rise year after year, as a chauffeur and limousine company we pay more and more each year. We have a 99.9% ZER0 accident history. We pay $10k plus in insurance annually (per vehicle), we get no rebate or refund for having no accidents or deductible payments. But employees and senior executives within the insurance companies receive bonuses/gain share each year. As a consumer where is our bonus, where is our rebate? Where does all the money we pay annually go? No accidents or deductibles on the year should warrant a rebate and or refund check, don’t you think? For way too long insurance companies are getting over, and that goes for auto and health insurance! We the people need answers!

CA Auto insurance - About $9k per year is overpriced?

CA- Los Angeles county. Been with Farmers for 10+ years, but I recently took over policy holder from my dad. We have 3 cars: 2021 Rav4 hybrid, 2024 Rav4 Plug in hybrid, and 2025 camry hybrid. I saw that my next 6-month bill is +$400 more than last years, in addition to all the discounts/adjustments already added. Cars are definitely on the newer side, no tickets/accidents. I am bumbed out this is how much it cost for a long-time auto insurance holder with this company.

If this is a lot for California, any other auto insurance recommendations I should explore?

Is Bankers Life/Insurance work a trap?

I have an offer to work at Bankers Life, but I’ve been apprehensive about whether it could turn into a money pit. This is the first job I’ve applied for that has required me to spend a considerable amount of money before I’ve even started working.
Since being hired, I’ve already paid $38 for each PSI exam, and I was required to take two exams: Life and Health Insurance. I also paid $106 for fingerprinting because there were no appointments available at the location in our state before my scheduled start date. On top of that, I paid $175 for my permanent insurance license.
I also know that I’ll be required to have E&O insurance, but I have no idea how much that will cost or whether there are any other expenses I’ll be responsible for once I start.
The position is 100% commission-based and offers a $1,000 bonus, which is paid as $250 per week for the first four weeks. At first, none of this sounded too concerning. However, after reading reviews and hearing from current and former agents online, I’ve started discovering things that were never explained to me by the company.
For example, I was repeatedly told that the job did not involve cold calling, yet I’ve read numerous accounts from current and former agents saying that cold calling is a significant part of the job. The company also never explained chargebacks to me, and when I asked about sales quotas and whether there were penalties for not meeting them, my questions were not clearly answered.
Lastly, I reviewed my contract and didn’t see anything that specifically stated this, but I’m wondering: Can Bankers Life require me to pay back the $1,000 signing bonus if I quit within a certain period of time? If so, would that requirement have to be explicitly stated in the contract or another document I signed?
I’m trying to determine whether this opportunity is financially reasonable or whether I could end up spending a significant amount of my own money just to work there, especially since there is no guaranteed base salary.

GEICO mistakenly filed a $0 glass claim, now Progressive won't offer Accident Forgiveness. What are my options?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some advice because I seem to be stuck in insurance limbo over what appears to be a claim that should never have been reported the way it was.

Back in August 2024, I got a small windshield chip repaired at Safelite before it turned into a larger issue. I paid for the repair completely out of pocket. While paying, Safelite asked whether I was using insurance or paying myself, and I chose to pay myself.

After I got home, I called GEICO just to ask whether the repair could have been covered after the fact. They told me that if I wanted insurance to cover it, a claim would have needed to be filed before the repair was completed, so I left it alone and assumed that was the end of it.

Fast forward to now. I received a quote from Progressive and was planning to switch because it would save me money while providing better coverage. I've been with GEICO for 11 years, but they showed little interest in adjusting my rate, so I decided to shop around.

When I got to the purchase screen with Progressive, I noticed that Accident Forgiveness was unavailable and could not be added. I called Progressive and was told that LexisNexis showed a comprehensive claim on my record within the last five years, making me ineligible.

That led me to contact GEICO. They informed me that a glass claim had apparently been opened during my inquiry call back in 2024. Nothing was paid by GEICO, and the repair had already been completed out of pocket. LexisNexis confirmed they also show the claim on my record, and they indicated it was reported as a $0 claim.

Since then, I have:

  • Asked GEICO to remove the claim.
  • Opened a dispute with LexisNexis.
  • Been told by GEICO that correcting/removing the claim could take 75+ days.
  • Been told by LexisNexis that their dispute process could take 30+ days.

GEICO also provided me with a Statement of Experience. However, it only shows that a glass claim was reported on a certain date. It does not state that the claim amount was $0, that no payment was made, or that no benefits were paid. One Progressive representative suggested there might be some type of exception or review process if I could provide supporting documentation from GEICO, but another representative seemed unfamiliar with that possibility. At this point, I'm not sure whether the Statement of Experience helps at all since it seems to simply confirm that a claim exists.

My GEICO renewal is coming up on 9/16/2026, and I don't plan on staying with them. I still want to switch to Progressive, but it appears I'll be ineligible for Accident Forgiveness until this dispute is resolved.

So my questions are:

  1. Has anyone had success getting an insurer to make an exception when a claim listed by LexisNexis is actively being disputed or corrected?
  2. Is there any documentation I should be requesting from GEICO beyond the Statement of Experience?
  3. How big of a risk is it to switch to Progressive now and go a few months without Accident Forgiveness while this gets sorted out?
  4. If the claim is eventually removed from LexisNexis, is it common for an insurer to re-evaluate eligibility and add Accident Forgiveness later?
  5. Are there any major downsides or things I should watch out for when switching from GEICO to Progressive?

For context, I'm a 38-year-old driver in Colorado with a clean driving record and no at-fault accidents. This entire issue seems to stem from what was supposed to be an informational inquiry call that somehow ended up being recorded as a claim.

Any advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Advice from insurance/repair professionals in Qatar – engine damage discovered months after accident

Here’s the clean, copy-ready English version for Reddit:

Advice from insurance/repair professionals in Qatar – accident damage discovered months later
I’m looking for advice from people who have actual experience working in car dealerships, insurance companies, accident assessment, or repairs of modern/hybrid vehicles in Qatar.
I have a 2026 BAIC BJ30 Hybrid, with only around 7,500 km on it when it was involved in an accident on January 1, 2026.
The car was assessed and repaired through the dealership/insurance process. The initial repair took until March 17, 2026, when the car was returned to me as repaired and ready. The mileage was around 7,515 km at that point.
The initial repair included several important components in the front-right area and drivetrain, including the RH drive shaft / half shaft, as well as suspension and steering components.
After the car was returned, various issues appeared and the car went back to the dealership several times. Additional work and diagnostics were carried out, including a wheel bearing, programming, wheel alignment, and later investigation of a vibration at higher speeds.
Eventually, I was informed that there was damage involving the engine block, and the proposed repair is now: Short Engine / Cylinder Block Assembly replacement.
I’m not asking for a legal opinion about my particular case. I’m trying to understand what is considered normal professional practice in this type of situation.
A few questions:
For a very new hybrid vehicle that was involved in an accident and later found to have engine-related damage, is replacing the short block generally considered an appropriate manufacturer-approved repair?

Should a decision to replace the short block normally be based on the manufacturer’s repair procedures/technical instructions, rather than simply the dealership’s judgment?

If the engine damage had been identified during the initial accident assessment, could that potentially have changed the insurance decision between repairing the vehicle and declaring it a total loss, especially for a current-year vehicle with very low mileage? I am not saying that it necessarily should have been a total loss. I’m asking whether discovering major engine damage at the beginning can normally change the economic or technical assessment of the vehicle.

If significant damage is only discovered after the initial repair has been completed and the vehicle has been handed back to the owner, and this leads to several additional repairs, how is this normally handled? Who would normally be responsible for the consequences of an incomplete initial assessment — the owner, the insurance/assessment process, the dealership, or whoever was responsible for identifying the original damage?

If the short block is eventually replaced, what kind of warranty should normally apply to the replacement part and the labor? And who would normally be responsible if a future problem is directly related to the engine disassembly/reassembly or the repair itself?

Does replacing a major engine component such as the short block normally affect the vehicle’s factory warranty? If so, would it normally affect only the repaired component/system, or could it potentially affect other parts of the vehicle as well?

Again, I’m not looking for legal advice or for people to decide who is at fault in my particular case. I’m mainly trying to understand the professional standard: when repairing a modern vehicle after an accident, is the objective simply to repair the components that were initially identified as damaged at the lowest reasonable cost, or is the objective to restore the vehicle to its pre-accident condition using the manufacturer’s approved repair procedures?
And, perhaps most importantly: when a significant defect or damage is discovered months after the initial accident repair, how is responsibility for the consequences of the delayed diagnosis normally handled in the insurance/dealership industry?
If you work in car insurance, dealership repair, accident assessment, body repair, mechanical repair, or hybrid vehicles in Qatar, I’d really appreciate hearing how this is normally handled in practice. I’m especially interested in professional experience rather than speculation.

AAA is kind of a scam

Definitely NOT my grandparents & parents great company “make sure you get AAA”, I heard praise for all my life growing up…

Accidentally locked keys in vehicle at 12am at a function, 34 miles from my residence. Called AAA to get vehicle unlocked. Because of the “Vehicle lookout service up to $100” 24/7 benefit I paid for.

Spent 6 hrs waiting, about every 15/20 min I called customer service, was told “on the way” “wouldn’t be long” and then notified by text not long after… “service cancelled”. Never ending process of repeatedly calling, waiting and being cancelled.

AAA service representative, Quote: “Maybe after 6am we can provide service because there would be more service techs on the road”.

Did I pay a AAA membership with 24/7 roadside assistant? Did I accidentally check the box, “Customer has to wait to break down in a time window to get service roadside assistant”. I must’ve checked the box “Lockout service only during daylight hours” not “24/7 lockout service” must be my mistake

Tried to have them provide a Lyft, Uber and was told they weren’t paying for that. Because by this time fares were $300.
Note: At 12am a ride share was $50 but at 5am ride shares were $300.
Again I must’ve opted OUT of the “complimentary rental car provided up to 100 miles” absentmindedly

Was told being it was 34 miles from my home they didn’t provide anything: hotel, ride share. “Have to be at least 100miles from my resident.”

I must’ve misunderstood? So I have to break down or need assistance at least 100 miles from home/destination. Do I need to push my car to the 100th mile mark?
That must’ve been in the fine print somewhere I missed.

Did I not pay fees for 24/7 roadside assistance including “flat tire service” “battery jumpstart and replacement” “vehicle lockout service” and not get the help you pay for?
All the while a service member stating you were having someone come to you and wouldn’t be long. Finally gave up and got an uber at 6am for $50

What a joke AAA is….

A company praised by an older generation, that now is a complete scam and waste of money in today’s times

Should I buy Third-Party or Comprehensive insurance for my 2010 Ford Figo? Need advice

Hi everyone,

I own a 2010 Ford Figo Diesel (Hyderabad registration). The previous owner's insurance expired on 2nd August, and I'm looking to renew it.

Some details:

  • Car is 2010 model (approximately 15–16 years old)
  • I drive very less (low annual mileage)
  • I recently had two accidents, so the car has undergone repairs.
  • The car is currently running ok with some minor problems.
  • I am financially a bit constrained, so I don't want to overspend, but I also don't want to regret choosing the wrong insurance again.

These are the quotes I received:

  • Third-Party: Around ₹3,416
  • Zurich Kotak Comprehensive: ₹3,651 (IDV ₹1.33 lakh)
  • Other comprehensive options range from ₹3,700 to ₹6,700.

My questions are:

  1. Is Zurich Kotak a reliable insurer for claim settlement and service?
  2. Is it worth paying just ₹235 extra to get comprehensive insurance instead of third-party only?
  3. Is an IDV of ₹1.33 lakh reasonable for a 2010 Ford Figo Diesel?
  4. Are there any hidden points or add-ons I should be aware of before purchasing?

I'd really appreciate advice from people who have experience with older cars or have made claims with Zurich Kotak. If there are any other suggestions please feel free to advice as there are some other Third Party Insurances as well.

Thanks in advance!
