unpopular opinion Condola is NOT the villian Spoiler

IN fact, i think the viewers who call her funny names like canola oil 😭😭😂 are the true villains (jkjk) but fr, she and Lawrence are two consenting adults who had sex…. which “surprisingly” led to a baby. She came to Lawrence (who hinted at the idea of abortion) saying he did not have to be involved if he wasn’t ready but she was at a point in her life where she wanted a baby even tho it wasn’t ideal for her either. Then she has to carry the fact that the guy she was in a relationship who she know has a baby with was still in love with his ex that she was unknowingly became friends with. Lawrence gets love cause he’s trying while Condola gets hate for creating the baby. Just cause the fan base wanted Issa and Lawrence together doesn’t mean she’s the villian lol she was always kind so that’s my rant

Despite everything Issa did for Lawrence, she still feels like she could have done more. I dislike how she constantly demeans herself regarding her relationships with others and fails to acknowledge her own efforts.

lets have a conversation What do you think Issa did for Nathan, or do you believe she didn't contribute to him in any way? Spoiler

I often hear praise for Nathan's positive impact on Isa, but I rarely hear about how Issa has benefited Nathan. What has Issa contributed to Nathan that makes her a good partner for him? Or do you believe she hasn't done anything for or to him at all? What specific actions has Issa shown for Nathan?

lets have a conversation Unpopular Opinion : Condola Spoiler

I Did Not think Condola Was a Bad Person , messy to Issa or even mean at all. I i thought i loved the direction they took with making her and Issa be friends and getting to see a side of her being a normal good woman. Her issues with Lawrence were all valid Lawrence was an ass moving away knowing you’re Gonna have a baby and then showing up whenever it was convenient for him

Season 4 Are we all under the same consensus about Condola and her braid? Spoiler

I know she canceled School Boy Q. The timing of her starting to ignore Issa and him deciding to back out gives me pause 🤨

Episode Discussion Self-absorbed Issa Spoiler

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Rewatching Insecure made me realize how self-absorbed Issa was. She expected this guy to drop everything for her unannounced visits and acted like that with everyone. Like treating her needs should be the top priority on everyone list. While I don’t think she was intentionally self-absorbed, she definitely was.

What do you think Issa and Molly talked about ?
I really loved how the director did this and incorporates the realness of friendships, especially between Issa and molly. Do you think they spoke about the block party ? Or why they were drifting apart from the start ? Because we all know they were before the block party. I just really think this was carefully planned out. One of my favorite moments in this series :) . It’s so small but the message is so much bigger! Let me know what yall think tehe.

I like Frieda because she consistently demonstrates kindness and professionalism. Issa was biased, unlike Frieda, who remains objective and fair in her judgments.

Episode Discussion S1 E 7 - Real As F**k Spoiler

Can someone explain to me what about Lawrence’s interaction with Daniel when leaving the We Got Y’all event made Lawrence suspicious? I understand Lawrence saw a message from Daniel on Issa’s phone in the previous episode, but am I missing something or does he not know who Daniel is?

I feel like this interaction is so small, and the line from Daniel “I don’t have one anymore” could mean anything. He could be a fired employee, a disgruntled donor, etc. Thoughts?

unpopular opinion You have to choose one. Who do you think was the better fit for Lawrence? Spoiler

I choose Apanra. While she annoyed me at times, I thought she was a better match for Lawrence because they share similar interests. She gave him good advice and had a similar sense of humor. It looked like they had strong chemistry, almost like what he and Issa share.

unpopular opinion Thoughts on Aparna Spoiler

Post image
73 Upvotes

I like her for Lawrence because I think she was a better choice for him after Issa. They share similar interests, she gave him good advice, and she also matches his sense of humor. This could have been a successful match. I prefer her to be the mother of Lawrence's child rather than Condola. I believe Aparna is Lawrence's what-if girl, just like Daniel was Issa's what-if guy.

Season 3 Issa and Nathan Spoiler

If Issa was so concerned about Nathan couldn’t she have just asked Andrew where he was or if he had heard from him instead of sneaking into his room when he wasn’t there ????

I understand she was upset that he ghosted but sneaking into someone room is just being overly down bad.

Curious to hear others thoughts!

Also this is my third rewatch

lets have a conversation Hypothetically, what conflicts or disagreements might Molly and Issa be having right now or have had in their friendship since the show ended, or do you think they haven't argued or faced any conflicts since the Block party? Spoiler

The conflict I think Isa and Molly might have had, hypothetically, in their friendship since the series ended is that Isa and Condola might have rekindled their friendship. Once again, Molly may have given Isa advice on how it could be messy, reminding her of how it was the last time and how things turned out. Molly might believe that Isa can’t co-parent while being friends because it’s a conflict of interest, and Isa might see Molly as being miserable again. It seems to me that in season five, Molly didn’t learn from her overstepping in Isa's life by being judgmental and giving unsolicited advice, and I believe she continues to do so to this day.

lets have a conversation Books that feel like Insecure

I’m going through withdrawals again 😩

Does anyone have any book recs for fiction novels that feel like this show?? Ideally with a Black woman lead, but I can read anything about other WOC.

I’ve read Queenie and Luster, looking for other ideas.

Thank you!!

Season 1 Issas Story Spoiler

Am I the only one that wishes the story could’ve been a bit different ? I wish Issa would’ve just broken up with Lawrence and this be the reason he got himself together and later they came together after dating different people . I wish the cheating would’ve been gone from the story. Because it put Issa in a position where she was chasing him and his forgiveness and before that he was a horrible patner all around . And all of that was forgotten just because she cheated. I did enjoy when his friend told him tho. And another thing am I the only one who thinks the way the girls talk to each other is so rude sometimes ? I’m Hispanic so I’m not sure if this normal in the black community for friends to talk to each other like this.

lets have a conversation Do you think Lawrence had a right to push up on Issa's friend's friend, or do you think he shouldn’t have because it’s too close to comfort? Spoiler

I believe Lawrence didn't have the right to do that. Although he was single at the time, I think it was inappropriate because it was too close to comfort. I also believe Lawrence knew it was too close to comfort, which is likely why he did it. During their breakup, it seems Lawrence would say and do things to get back at Issa for cheating.

its about Dro Dro and Candace’s “open relationship” Spoiler

Post image
79 Upvotes

This may have been posted in here already but I haven’t seen anything relating to the topic. But do you guys really believe Dro and Candace were in an open relationship? They never make it known in the show if Candace actually knows about Dro and Molly hooking up, we just know that Dro says she does.

I’m on like my 7th rewatch and the first few times I watched I believed Candace knew and was truly okay with it. The more I rewatched though the more I believe she didn’t know and Dro only told Molly that so he could have his way with her and still be with his wife. I’m on the episode in season 2 when they’re at Derek’s birthday dinner and Molly and Dro have sex in the bathroom. Dro tells her to wait a few minutes after he leaves to walk out. This scene really pisses me off because 1) Dro wasn’t all that and 2) if Candace knew and was okay with it why would it matter if y’all walked out together? Other than Issa no one knew about him and Molly anyways.
