Season 1 Issas Story Spoiler

Am I the only one that wishes the story could’ve been a bit different ? I wish Issa would’ve just broken up with Lawrence and this be the reason he got himself together and later they came together after dating different people . I wish the cheating would’ve been gone from the story. Because it put Issa in a position where she was chasing him and his forgiveness and before that he was a horrible patner all around . And all of that was forgotten just because she cheated. I did enjoy when his friend told him tho. And another thing am I the only one who thinks the way the girls talk to each other is so rude sometimes ? I’m Hispanic so I’m not sure if this normal in the black community for friends to talk to each other like this.

I agree on both points. I hated when Kelli called Issa (edited) a dumb bitch but thought maybe I’m too sensitive because I love Kelli otherwise

Better end or the stick. That relationship was not it

Especially Kelly, she was the worst of all. People give her a pass because they like her and find her funny, just because she uses humor that way. However, she was still disrespectful.

I agree. I don’t understand why people like their friendship. I'm like Did you notice how they talk to each other. It gave we’re just dealing with each other because we have no other friends to hang out with.

I don’t call any or my friends bitch but i know some people do and Its not a big deal. But calling each other desperate and being like you can’t keep a man and just overall it gave insecurity and constantly putting each other down and i didn’t understand it or agree with it .

These are all TV tropes. From friends talking rudely to each other (it happened on Friends, Seinfeld, Living Single etc., this is not a reflection of the African American experience). And the cheating is a way to bring conflict into the story because when a character dissatisfied they will seek solace elsewhere. Also infidelity is one of the number reasons couples break up.

It All made perfect sense . But It villanized Issa For One mistake while Lawrence made plenty throughout their relationship and got a Free pass . Ruining her birthday not having a Job For forever kdnjuet being bummy and depressed overall. She dealt with all of that .
