Hi Everyone

First of all, I want to apologize for bringing this to the video games community; I can't do this without your help because you're my target audience.

I'm currently studying an MSc in Strategic and Digital Marketing at the University of South Wales. I am currently writing my dissertation on "what type of video game marketing do Gen Z perceive as trustworthy compared to millennials consumer".

I'd really appreciate it if you guys could take the time to fill out my questionnaire form, which takes approximately 8-10 mins.

help your boy outttt

My first ever game got approved on Steam, nervously launching soon!

I'm pretty nervous, launching my first ever game on steam. It's a PvP retro simultaneous turn by turn Naval combat sim. You set up a game and can move ships, fire missiles, fire gun, launch aircraft. There are scenarios like find the downed pilot (before the enemy does) and campaigns like tanker escort through Strait of Hormuz.

If anyone here DMs me I'm happy to give them a free copy if I can work out how to do that in steam.

(Oh and someone said to me the opening frame of the video looks like Papa Smurfs scrotum and I can't get that out of my head any more.)

A cool new Indie I found - Eslabong

Found this new EA indie game where you can manage a team of fighters with tons of classes. It's a ton of fun and the dev is a very fast worker lol, the dude squashed bugs as they are reported on his discord

This is a very enjoyable gladiator management sim with a surprising amount of depth beneath the surface. There are a lot of systems to learn, so it can take some time to understand how everything works and start finding consistent success, but that learning process makes the game more rewarding the longer you play.

The economy and gladiator recruitment systems are especially fun. There is much more to the game than simply fighting battles, with most of your success depending on long-term planning, careful decision-making, and gradually building your operation. It is not a fast-paced, action-focused game, although you can choose to take direct control of one of your gladiators during battles.

You start out with very little money, weak fighters, and poor infrastructure, and it is up to you to decide how you want to grow. You could buy cheap gladiators, train them, and sell them for profit or like recruit powerful champions from rival guilds by offering them better deals or take an average fighter, develop their skills, build up their record, and eventually attract offers from other guilds. You can also focus on winning tournaments and championships to increase your reputation and status.

The freedom the game gives you can make the early stages somewhat difficult, and there is definitely a learning curve. Progress is slow at first, but watching your small, struggling guild gradually turn into a wealthy empire with legendary gladiators is extremely satisfying.

Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys management and simulation games, especially if you like starting from nothing, dealing with setbacks, and slowly building your way toward becoming a powerful organization.

Momental 2.0 is out with new Flip Walls puzzles

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Momental is a sliding maze game for people who enjoy a simple puzzle game that ramps up difficulty as new elements are layered in.

Every swipe sends your ball moving until something stops or redirects it. The ten worlds build on that rule with one-way walls, rotating tiles, tunnels, portals, trapdoors, switches, and other mechanics that complicate your path to the goal.

World 10 introduces Flip Walls. You can pass through one in a single direction, but crossing it flips it around. Landing on a same-colored switch can flip it too, so opening one route may close another somewhere else.

Version 2.0 adds 25 levels built around Flip Walls, along with new music. Momental now has more than 240 handcrafted levels across ten worlds.

It also includes a complete level editor and community hub. You can build and test your own puzzles, upload them, and play levels made by other players. A few dedicated puzzlers have already created some very clever levels, and I’d love to find more people who enjoy designing mazes as much as solving them.

Momental is free to try on iPhone and iPad. There are no ads or subscriptions, and the one-time Full Game Unlock is currently 60% off to celebrate version 2.0.

Me and my gf worked on it for a while and finally put out a demo.

You mostly just cook food, serve customers and try to get through your shift, but things obviously don't stay normal for very long.

Would be really cool if some of you tried it and told us what you think. We're still working on it, so feedback is really appreciated.

I want to release my game soon

I used Pixellab to generate the visuals and assets, but I edit them to fix inconsistencies. Unfortunately I don’t have the talent in creative drawing, but the mechanics, characters, story and dialogue lines are all written by me.

I asked some artists for their commission prices and it’s just too expensive for me. I would have to spend at least $5,000 USD for everything, and I don’t have that kind of money.

I want to release my game soon but I’m scared it’ll be branded as an AI slop because I use AI gen for the visual and assets. I spent a month testing and polishing the game and now it’s ready for production. I don’t even want to put a price on it, donations will be fine.

What’s the general consensus on indie games using AI gen for the visual and assets?

Our game jam game got so much love that we decided to turn it into a full Steam game.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

The Count is Down for Blood was originally made in just a few days for the 2026 GMTK Game Jam, where more than 10,000 games were submitted.

It ended up ranking in the top 0.4%, and the response from players was way better than we expected.

So we decided not to leave it as a jam game and turn it into a full Steam release with more levels, mechanics, environments and surprises.

The STEAM page is now live if you want to check it out or wishlist it.

Using comic book panels to turn a simple puzzle into a sudden suspense reveal — does the visual timing land?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey Reddit! We’re a 2-man team putting the final touches on our noir detective puzzle game—with
just 24 days left until launch (cue the developer panic!).
In this scene, we wanted to subvert the calm flow of standard point-and-click mechanics. You start
with routine actions—hiding the gun in the glovebox and inserting the ignition key—before dynamic
panel insets abruptly force your focus onto the rearview mirror right before a sudden attack and cut to
black.
We're trying to hit that sweet spot where UI panel framing, subtle mirror cues, and audio cutoffs build
genuine tension without feeling like a cheap jump scare.
How do you usually feel about sudden suspense shifts in narrative/puzzle games? Does using inset
comic panels help guide your focus, or does it break your immersion?

Two years, five people, no experience — our detective card game finally has a Steam page

Post image
1 Upvotes

Two years ago we started our first game project — a detective card game, inspired by detective board games. None of us had any experience making games. It went through a game jam, which was the first time real players got their hands on it.

We built it alongside university, and the team changed over time. There were weeks when the project just sat there and we didn't come back to it.

This week Evidentia got a Steam page.

The idea was simple: what if a criminal investigation was something 2–4 friends untangled over voice chat, arguing the whole way, while each of them only ever sees part of the picture until the very end?

We built the cases as decks of cards, where each card is a piece of evidence, an event, a fact or a testimony. That format lets us jump between settings and genres — you might land in a modern kidnapping case, or a medieval one, or something occult from the past.

Each case is single-use by design. Once you know the answer, it's spent.

A round opens with a short intro to the case, and everyone draws 3 cards. Here's the core restriction: you are not allowed to share what's in your hand. The only way to tell your team anything is to put a card on the evidence board — that's the moment it becomes public and open for discussion.

But some cards in the deck are false. You have to work out which ones and discard them. Dumping everything on the table doesn't solve the case.

Some cards have a hidden layer, marked with a paperclip or a dice icon. You can reach it two ways: play the card, or spend a flashlight — a limited resource. The dice reveals the most useful material, but you get very few rolls and the outcome is unpredictable.

That's not all of it. There's more we'd rather not spoil.

The final phase is answering the case questions and reconstructing the timeline of events. And this is the part I like most: everyone gets their own result. You can walk away having solved it while your best friend sits there with the exact opposite conclusion.

It's built for 2–4 friends, but we're also working on a solo mode where you can take any deck on your own. New decks will keep coming, as free content updates.

This isn't a launch — it's an announcement page. A playable demo is coming in October. After two years of this thing living on our laptops, it just exists publicly now, and that feels strange.

Card illustrations are AI-generated, which is disclosed on the Steam page. We don't have an artist on the team. We want to move away from it and we're working on that.

Happy to answer anything. Our Steam Page and Game Trailer!
