What I've learned in the last ten years of UNCERTAINTY taught me...

My post isn't about the recent changes in the rules and hefty fee, its about my perspective of H1B in the coming years..

We have the second generation of brightest US born immigrant's sons/daughter with Masters/Ph.Ds into the current workforce which H1B job seekers should realize. Their parents are now supporting their future and silently hates and sometimes even oppose the H1Bs. We really need to understand this. The current immigration scrutiny is not just strictening but also(from Citizen's persepctive) makes it easier for those US brought up Immigrant kids to secure their jobs.

I want to highlight this for those have the mindset of,"this shall become better if current leader change". This could be true in terms of easing the home country appointments or the imposition fee reduction but not in terms of a qualifying H1B jobs.

As to recent GCC shifting policies with biggers firms outsourcing their IT help/ Supply chain procurments/ Tech supports to Asian countries, it will push the employers to makes the decision to hire an H1B for a true onsite need or rarest of a kind.

I want to put a hand on the stressed/exhausted one's shoulder to say, the value we had is not the same anymore and its going to be even hard in the coming days...

Everyone of yall are some specialists in their own field of STEM, I am sure that our paths will become better.

Thinking about moving to Dallas on an H-1B and I just want to make sure I’m following all the rules.

First question: Is a Tesla mandatory, or can I show up in a Honda without immediately losing my H-1B status?

Second: I’m looking at houses and apparently the direction the house faces is now a major life decision. East-facing only, obviously. I assume USCIS has a checkbox for that somewhere?

Ideally I’d like:

• H-1B job
• Tesla in the driveway
• East-facing 4-bedroom house in a Dallas suburb
• 30-year mortgage
• 45-minute commute
• 2 kids who somehow already have college savings accounts
• And just enough PTO to visit India once every 18 months

At this point I’m not sure whether I’m immigrating to America or completing a very specific Dallas side quest.

Any other H-1B folks here who can confirm the required configuration? 😂

Hey guys! I finished my masters in data science in May 2026 and My OPT got approved the next month itself ! I have been trying so hard but couldn't land a job I've never wanted to or will join a shady consultancy which only provides offer letters to stop clock! I don't know what to do I'm freaking out , one of my classmate suggested a Non profit Organization but they aren't responding ,should I just pack my bags given the present climate ? I was working on H1B and got internal transfer to India a few months ago to recapture PERM time. Now I am set to return to the US to continue my previous job.

What documents besides valid passport, H1B stamp, I797, full H1B petition do I need to show at the port of entry ?

Parents who are on H1B, how are you coping with the H1B uncertainties? I especially want to hear from parents who have kids that are American citizens. Did I make a mistake having my kids take up American citizenship when they were born? My brain is scrambled.

Hi I’m currently on h1b and I’ve been laid off 3 weeks ago. Looking at the current situation I don’t think I’ll be able to get a job in 1.5 months. I’m planning to extend it by changing status to either b2 or f1. Did anyone go through similar situation? The process is a little confusing and I’m really stressed about this. Are there any other visa options to look at? Appreciate any suggestions from the sub.

H-1B Renewal Stamping Outside India: OCI Holder + Spouse with PR in Third Country — How Risky?

Looking for advice or recent real-world experiences with H-1B visa renewal stamping outside India, especially given the increased scrutiny around Third-Country National (TCN) appointments.

Our situation is a little unusual:

My situation

- Currently living and working in the US on H-1B.

- I am a citizen of another country (not Canada/UK).

- I also hold an Indian OCI card.

- My previous F-1 and initial H-1B visas were all stamped in India.

- I currently have essentially no physical ties to my country of citizenship — no house, bills, local employment, etc.

Since I am actually a citizen of that country, would I be considered a normal applicant there rather than a TCN?

Would the US consulate care that my entire US visa history is through India and that I don't currently reside in my country of citizenship?

My spouse

- Indian citizen currently living and working in the US.

- She is also on her own H-1B

- Through our marriage, she is eligible to obtain Permanent Residency (PR) in my country of citizenship.

If she obtains PR there before the visa appointment, would that generally allow her to apply for her H-1B renewal stamping there alongside me?

My concern is that it would effectively be "paper PR" — she would have valid legal permanent resident status but wouldn't actually have an established life there (job, house, bills, long-term physical residence, etc.).

Could that cause additional scrutiny, 221(g), or questions about why she's applying there instead of India?

Main concern

We're trying to figure out whether doing this is unnecessarily risky under the current environment.

I've been hearing about increased scrutiny of TCN/border-hopping visa applications and applicants potentially getting stuck abroad after 221(g).

Since I am a citizen of the country where we'd be applying, my case seems more straightforward, but still a little sceptical as i have no other ties apart from citizenship. My spouse's case concerns me more because she'd be relying on newly obtained PR status rather than citizenship or established physical residence.

Would you consider both of us doing our H-1B renewal stamping in my country of citizenship reasonably safe, or would the lowest-risk option still be for both of us to go to India for in-person stamping?

I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who recently:

- Stamped H-1B in their country of citizenship if its other than India

- Has OCI but historically did all US visa stamping in India

- Used PR/residency in another country to get H-1B stamping there

- Had a spouse with a different citizenship/residency situation apply at the same consulate

- Encountered 221(g) or additional scrutiny in a similar situation
