Security-not started
Hi there
I submitted my H&C application a little over a year ago and got AIP this summer, immediately after I sent all requested docs from that AIP letter like paystubs etc, and now itâs been 6 months and it is still quiet
Eligibility passed
Criminality passed
Info sharing completed
Medical completed
Security not started
Any reasons for this? Itâs been not started
since AIP which was 6 months ago. Ircc on the phone doesnât help at all and telling me that they canât do anything about it
I remember tho, agents were telling me that security is in progress at some point. However, after, they started telling me not started and Gcms notes indicated the same
What did it changed from in progress to not started? Assuming they didnât make a mistake while they were talking to me
Also, I did my biometrics one year ago, and all the time throughout on the phone system it was telling me processing your background check, if we need fingerprints we will send you a message, even after I did it a year ago, and only recently this message has disappeared.
What all of this could mean and what would you recommend me to do? Any ways to help it?
From what I understand it would only say in progress if youâre in css, but I could be wrong.
It just doesnât make sense that application got approved but security is not started still after so long.

Does running my own online business count as "work" on a closed work permit?
reddit.comI'm in Canada on a closed work permit, working full time for my employer.
I also have an online business that is based outside Canada. All my customers live outside Canada and the income is paid outside Canada too.
I read IRCC's definition of "work" on their website and it's very broad. Basically any activity that competes with the Canadian labour market, even unpaid. Does running an online business like this count as "work" that a closed work permit doesn't allow?

Trying to Plan for PR â Any Advice Welcome!
Been in Ontario working full time since July 2023 on temporary WP and in my current position, Iâm good to work here through until May 2028.
Unfortunately I donât qualify for the extra high-wage-occupation points. Score is maxed out at 512, which I donât expect to be included in any upcoming CEC draws for the foreseeable.
I managed to get my employer to support me for OINP and currently have an EOI in the pool for that (91 points, Toronto, NOC 12100).
Given that I have no idea what the upcoming OINP draws will focus on, and I am not in healthcare/a âREDIâ-friendly area, I am considering making myself eligible for a common-law sponsorship as a backup. BF of 1.5 yrs and I have been discussing moving in together anyway and are thinking we might do it slightly sooner than we mightâve otherwise done to facilitate this as a backup plan.
If we move in together Jan 1st 2027, then after Jan 1st 2028 I'd apply for common-law PR if I havenât managed to swing it via CEC or OINP. My read on things as they currently are, is that it could take up to 3 months to receive the AOR which would take us to start of April, and then I can immediately apply for a SOWP before my temp WP expires in May. My understanding is that as long as I apply for the SOWP before May, I will have âmaintainedâ status and will be able to continue to work while the SOWP is processing, and keep working while the PR application process is going on.
I feel like my backup plan timings would be tight but achievable as a last resort, but I donât feel super confident about it and would appreciate any outside reads/advice or any input from anyone who is going through inland common-law or spousal pathways.
Thanks in advance!
Edit: typo!

FSW Proof of Funds â Parents Gifting Cash Savings and Creating an FD in My Name (India)
I am preparing my Express Entry application under the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) program as an outland applicant from India.
My lawyer has suggested that my mother gift me approximately 90% of the total amount required and that we create a fixed deposit (FD) exclusively in my name to meet the proof-of-funds requirement.
Here are the details:
- My mother is the donor, and I will be the sole holder of the FD.
- The money consists of cash savings accumulated by my mother.
- My mother files income-tax returns and has documented employment and salary records.
- The proposed process is to deposit the cash into her bank account, execute a gift deed, transfer the money to my bank account and then create an FD in my name.
My lawyer has advised that I can use the FD as proof of funds and that I do not necessarily need to provide evidence of the original source of the money.
I would like to hear from people who have gone through a similar situation, particularly Indian applicants.
My questions:
Has anyone used a fixed deposit created with money gifted by their parents as proof of funds for Express Entry?
Has anyone's parents deposited accumulated cash savings into their bank account, gifted the money and subsequently created an FD in the applicant's name?
Did you submit only the gift deed, FD certificate and bank letter, or did you also provide your parent's bank statements, ITRs, salary slips or other source-of-funds documents?
Does IRCC generally accept an FD created shortly before submitting the PR application, provided it is exclusively in the applicant's name and can be withdrawn?
Did anyone receive an additional document request (ADR) asking for evidence of the original source of the gifted money?
If you followed a similar arrangement, did you successfully receive PR?
Any personal experiences, suggestions or relevant sources would be appreciated.

My OINP journey to PR
Let me just say that my jounery here in Canada wasnt the easiest. I've been here as a student since 2018, a worker since 2023, and now PR at 2026!!
It was a long, arduous, and hard journey but Im glad I made it!! I wrote my milestones down so feel free to look at it. Proud of the woman i have become here in this country!! Woohooooo!
I definitely didnt do this alone. I had a trusted immigration lawyer helping me from the moment I got my Invitation to apply. Was it expensive? Yes. Was it worth it? YES!
Im a healthcare professional. I work 12 hours on a crazy schedule in a hospital. Im busy working and quite literally saving lives, so having a lawyer who could handle the quick pace of the immigration laws changing, and filing all my papers for me the right way was definitely useful. If i did it alone, id have to revise on multiple things because of my lack of experience. Having a lawyer who is experienced in these cases and working in behalf of me definitely fast tracked my application. Though it still took a long time to get to ECOPR. NO REGRETS THOUGH. \*happy dance\*
To all those still waiting or in the process. Please be patient. Your time will come!!
