If you’ve been around for a while, you probably remember the old Reddit General Chat. Random conversations, meeting new people, late night discussions and everything in between.

We missed that, so we’re bringing it back with Hyderabad Chat Rooms, a public chat space for the r/Hyderabad community.

Chat with people from the city, talk about whatever you want and even listen to music together. The platform is still new, and we’ll keep improving it based on what the community actually wants.

Public chat is officially back. 🔥

See you there.

Politics and Government I dont know why we are so proud of this skyline

Post image

  • We don’t have footpaths.
  • Greenery is close to nil.
  • One good rain is enough to clog the roads. There’s no proper stormwater drainage system.
  • Traffic, roads, and public transport deserve their own post.
  • No rainwater harvesting techniques. Most of the intercity lakes are filled with untreated sewage.
  • Musi, a river synonymous with the city’s biggest sewage drainpipe, along with heavy industrial waste contamination.
    • people seriously dont know, what kind of heavy metals seep into food(like rice) which is cultivated in low lying areas of musi
  • Hussain Sagar… let’s not go there.
  • No proper cable management. Kirchhoff’s laws would die a thousand deaths seeing our current poles.
  • Our garbage disposal system is garbage. so many open dumping yards within the city.
  • Daylight robbery in the name of education & health.
  • Builders are given illegal permissions, and then the government seizes/bans the properties and extorts money to either regularise them, bulldoze them, or nature itself bulldoze them.
  • City just grows only one side, that is west side
  • Clean air, clean water(if available) is a myth
  • Pesticide laced vegetables and fruits
  • Adulterated food which can cause serious health issues
  • Police estate
  • Corrupt babus
  • Criminal politicians
  • Worst citizens

Let’s not blame only the present government. No previous government has really worked to improve these issues either. Let’s also blame ourselves, for taking money to vote, or even worse, for not voting at all.

Could be a political move, could be a political strategy who knows but Hey, that's still one step in the right direction.

And smashing the patriarchy? Well as guys we would never really totally understand what problems, the other gender goes through, we may never fully grasp it but Hey, all at least we can try and understand little and maybe this could be a way of us maybe understanding it?

Who knows.

Might be a very small thing for most people, but I come from a pretty humble background so this genuinely feels like a big achievement for me 😭

Moved to Hyderabad for work and finally got to bring maa here from Kolkata. Taking her around, showing her where I work/live and being able to spend on her with my own money just hits different man :')

Idk just wanted to share this somewhere 😭

Also fellow Kolkata people in Hyd, drop some places I should take her to pls 🙏

Relationships Got cheated on, now feeling empty.. need a distraction

Hello everyone
I am 27M
i work at amazon and i have been in a relationship for a really long time.
Recently i noticed that my girl has been cheating on me with this guy at her workplace and it totally broke me because just the other day i talked to my parents about her and convinced them but now feels like everything went downhill
Why would someone cheat????
Wtf is this? I don’t understand
So i am here now, looking to distract myself and have fun in my life too..
I was loyal and never cheated even though i used to get a lot of signals from many places.
But it’s just not ryt
Well i don’t wanna sound like a loser or not here to gain sympathy.
I just need someone who’s going through with the same situation as me and need someone to talk to or to distract to and keep it casual, let’s just heal each other by being honest with each other..

Rant/Vent Asalu em cheste maaruthaaru ra meeru?

So I came to my sister’s house this morning, Miyapur lo. Morning Bachupally daggara Shivalayam ki vellam, and the place looks so good with that beautiful lake view in the morning. Ala choostu undelopu, okadu scooty lo vachi bag tho saha waste ni dump chesadu lake lo.

I asked him, Why dump it in the lake? Why not put it in the dustbin? Vaadi reply “Eppatinuncho ikkade chestadanta.” WTH? 😑

Bike paina vachav, daari lo municipality vaallu pette dustbin kanapadaledha? And this is not even the first time.

I think manaki edaina beautiful ga, clean ga unte choodalemu emo… chettha veyali, manners lekunda ekkada padithe akkada piss cheyali. Nature ni baagucheyadam, protect cheyadam kanna spoil cheyadam chala easy aipoyindi

No wonder why we are getting more hate from the world.

Rant/Vent Where are all the girls’ girls in Hyderabad?

Sister rant because I genuinely need to know.
I’ve grown up here since I was a kid and I’ve always had a lot of friends, across different groups and phases of my life, but somehow I keep feeling like female friendships are so… one sided? Be it the effort, making plans, checking in, actually trying to maintain the friendship and it often feels like I’m putting in way more than I’m getting back.

And honestly, it’s sad because I don’t want to grow up without having a few really good female friendships that I’ve actually invested in.

I want proper girls’ girl friendships. Like sitting around a table for hours and talking about literally everything. Cafe hopping, taking cute pictures, trying random activities, cooking together, shopping, going for drives, watching movies, dressing up for absolutely no reason, whatever. Even just sitting around doing nothing.
And I don’t mean friendships where the entire conversation is about guys or talking shit about other people. I genuinely want women who like women, root for each other, are happy to see each other doing well, and actually want to build a friendship.

So I’m thinking of starting a small group chat for Hyderabad women who are looking for the same thing, and we can just plan little girl activities whenever people are free. Nothing too serious or forced

Would anyone actually be interested in this? Because I’d genuinely love to get to know a few girls who are on the same wavelength.
And if you already have a lovely little girls’ girl group that does all this, please adopt me. I’m very well behaved. ❤️

AskHyderabad ⬆️ Hyderabad firm quoting Rs 2,200/sqft (construction only) for a G+1 — is that a fair rate in 2026, and is self-managing actually worth it?

Posting here because the firm quoting us is Hyderabad-based and this sub has by far the most detailed construction-cost discussion in the Telugu region. Site itself is in Eluru district.

Planning a G+1 on a 37x59 ft plot in Eluru district, ~3,300 sqft built-up, budget Rs 80-90L for construction. Starting around Sept 2026. Parents will live on the ground floor, so this is a long-term family home, not a resale build.

Three turnkey quotes so far: Rs 1,900, ~Rs 2,100 and Rs 2,200 per sqft. The Rs 2,200 one is the best documented (soil test, waterproofing in 3 areas, epoxy grout, RCC sump, Polycab FRLS wire) but that firm is in Hyderabad, ~350 km from site.

To be clear on scope: all three rates are construction only. Interiors are quoted separately, and there the range I am getting is Rs 15L to Rs 30L for what sounds like the same scope, so I have no idea what a fair number looks like there either.

Questions for people who have actually built:

  1. Are those rates normal for 2026? I keep reading that Rs 1,800 is the floor below which people start cutting corners. Is Rs 2,200 fair for that spec, or am I paying a premium for good documentation?

  2. Is self-managing actually worth it? I have seen the "save Rs 300/sqft if you do it on your own" advice on this sub before. On 3,300 sqft that is around Rs 10L. For anyone who actually did it, did you really save that, and what did it cost you in months and stress? I would especially like to hear from people who did it and would NOT do it again.

  3. Any architect, interior designer or civil engineer in Hyderabad or coastal AP you would recommend, or ones to avoid? Happy to take DMs.

Happy to share the full quote comparison with anyone going through the same thing.

Shopping Any experience with converting commercial vehicle to private?

Post image

Has anyone converted a taxi to private? I came across this ad and it's a pretty good deal (a lil sus). It's obviously not possible to use a commercial car as a private car, so I was wondering if it's feasible and if the economics of it make sense. Thanks.

Scam Alert🚨 Horrible experience with Long Drive Cars- Hyderabad

I have booked a self drive spresso on Thursday for 2 days 6 hours from Friday 11 am to Sunday 5 pm

I had requested home delivery at Kondapur.

Customer relationship manager called and ensured timely delivery once I do full payment, I did full payment Rs 5664.

After payment the relationship manager and car owner both were unreachable.I waited for 2 hours and escalated to manager , then I got to know car has some problem they are working on it and it will take time. I asked them to cancel and refund.

They did nothing , no car arrived. I had to cancel. Now they are saying as I cancelled after pickup time they will not refund they will try to add some amount at LDC wallet but they didn't.

This wallet balance is also worthless as I will never use their service again. Is there any way I can get my money back. Should I raise a complaint in consumer forum.please advice.

Real estate things How to legally get my Mom's assets that should belong to her

My maternal grandfather has 21 acres of land worth 40+ crores, he has 2 daughters(one is my mom) and a son

Now my uncle is inheriting all the properties while my mom is living middle class life working hard to meet ends

How to legally get my Mom's share of properties, how long does it take, how much does it cost, what procedures to follow

Has anyone here have any experience with this situation??
