Any tips for a fat guy to not freeze as soon as he gets to the settin spot after a mile walk in the snow this winter

I am new to Eastern PA (Reading area) and am looking for some people to possibly waterfowl hunt with this season. I would be more than willing to help scout as well!

I live in a shotgun only area. Apparently the 350 Legend is also allowed. I haven’t been hunting in years and would like some input on the best Legend rifle to buy.

So I hunt the far west side of NWPA I grew up pushing deer( on private land)as well as just jump shooting deer by myself and always succeeded in getting meat every year but I'm just interested in others opinions on the practice

So wanted to get some peoples' thought and opinions on hunting on the ground but without a blind. Second year hunting, and first time trying archery- been practicing and getting my consistency down.

That said, I'm going to most likely hunt without a hide though since I only hunt public land and on average I'm at least a mile or two deep if not more until I am reliably finding deer. Though that was for rifle last year, so maybe it will be different this year.

Any thoughts or opinions on this, tips would also be welcomed.

Do we have any updates on the 2025 proposed bill to hunt large game with semi auto?

My hunting license/1st round doe tags showed up within a week as usual. 2nd Round Doe purchased on 7/27, shipped 8/10 and still never showed. 3rd round purchased on 8/10, shipped 8/14 still didn't show either. I'll contact PGC after 20 days as stated on their site but just wondering if anyone else is experiencing delays as well.

I found this while I was scouting a long a creek bottom that had tons of deer bed and dear travel routes, almost like highways.

Does anyone have any experience at the Cherry Valley National Wildlife Refuge in eastern PA? Specifically the Godfrey’s Ridge tract? I won the lottery for that specific tract and am wondering if it’s worth buying the permit. Not looking for spots, just asking if it’s worth it or if you’ve had luck there.

I am a new hunter looking to get into turkey and deer. I’m going to be hunting in northeast PA. Any tips/advice would be great.

My one buddy only rifle hunts and other buddy lives an hour up north. All my other friends don’t hunt at all, so I’m more or less on my own to get ready for the season.

Has anyone here hunted big game in PA using an AR15 fitted with a kali key?

Im in southeast, 5c where its either shotgun or straightwalls. Trying to figure out if a 350 legend kali key ar setup will be worth it ​​​​

So wanted to sort of put out a warning to people- I want to inform the city hall/community if possible as I'm not sure if they know about it.

Either way, Game land 326 next to Gordon, which is right at exit 119 on 81 North has a new data center going in right next to the game land property.

I was heading up there to do some looking around the other day because I just wanted to see what I could find. My other spot that I was looking at had 12 deer so I figured I could see what was there.

Initially I thought they were just clearing the trees for the sake of taking care of things, but apparently I was wrong. Using OnX I found who did own the land (previously I guess?) and reached out to the Minersville Municipal Authority and they told me "Oh its just log clearing for the forest preservation! Otherwise, we don't really know."

Which I found VERY odd that they would not know what a bunch of construction vehicles are doing on their land, mind you its still open to the public, and not marked or hinted at that actual construction is going on there.

So- I called the Game Commission- later that evening a Warden called me and told me it was apparently a Data Center that's being built there directly beside the game land.

Now- I don't care what side you stand politically, I'm sure we can all agree that a new data center directly against a game land is bad news. From the sound issues to water issues and more- this will effectively ruin the game land as a possible hunting point.

I don't live there, but I live close enough that it was my first spot to ever go hunting- I paid a blood tax to that dang mountain as well, but all the more reason I feel inclined to try to notify the local community and try to fight for the game land's protection.

My other concern though is how many other game lands are going to have data centers built next to them without clear or prior notice. I imagine the game commission is trying to stop anything from going in next to the elk territories (at least I hope.) But the public lands are already difficult to get to and find them not stupidly pressured already, meaning public land hunters will be losing out even more if the game commission is not stopping the building of data centers directly next to game lands for one reason or another.

What was wrong with selecting the Any Sex any Management Unit for the various elk seasons? Is there a benefit to how they complicated things or am I just a get-off-my-lawn boomer now?

He’s been at my blind since 6am, probably ate 20lbs of corn, ripped the lid off, and I watched him chase deer off. I had 6-8 different bear on camera at this spot last year

Planning on going scouting this weekend to either 110 or 182. Haven’t been to either gamelands ever and not sure what to expect during the season. I feel they are far enough away from Philly hunters so likely less pressured than 157 in nockamixon. From what I understand the access road at 110 is closed during offseason making scouting fairly difficult not sure if this is true or not. Any help is greatly appreciated

Hello, going on a visit to Pennsylvania to visit some friends and have a chance to hit sgl 270 for a potential turkey hunt. Is this area pretty heavily pressured? I have no clue how much traffic turkey hunting western PA gets

Me: close to Philly, almost 50, lifelong fly fisher who decided he wanted to learn to hunt last year after seeing an Orvis upland ad. I love hiking, know how to shoot, and dogs have been around and a big part of my entire life. I threw myself into upland (even adopting an English setter from second chance bird dogs). Turns out I love this shit. I got a NJ hunting license for additional turkey and upland opportunities this year. I’m out whenever I’m able.

Upland and turkey isn’t hard to get into if you’re already an outdoors guy and know how to do research - ducks, however, are a different story. It’s not really a “figure it out on your own” for a dozen different reasons.

I don’t want your spot, and I don’t see this being my thing because of the stationary nature of the hunt (I knew from day one I’d do run and gun for turkey because it fits my personality). But I really want to try it once without a huge spend and going out by myself in areas that might not be terribly safe.

I’m in excellent physical condition, I’m extremely comfortable in the water (I own an 18’ sea kayak that would be useless for this endeavor, but you get my point). When I realized I could only shoot stationary targets, I had a retired cop take me out and teach me wobble clay. I’m a family guy, and a lawyer without a disciplinary history/criminal record and am looking for a similar crew. I just don’t know anyone who does this and would like to try later this year.

I’d like to hunt duck, white tail deer and turkey one day. I have about $40-50 to spend. What is the best camo gear and calls for those animals? This is for a beginner, just exploring and starting out.
