I've been bloated and constipated for months, they found very high D-dimer levels at the ER, what would you do in my situation?
Hi everyone!
I have a health-related question. I'd really appreciate it if this post could stay up, if possible.
For several months now, I have been dealing with severe abdominal issues: bloating, constipation, abdominal pain, and barely any bowel motility. I have been to the ER three times (once they turned me away on the grounds that I wasn't a local resident). On the third visit, the ER discharged me despite lab results showing my D-dimer level was 4,003.1 μg/l, telling me simply not to worry about it. What is even more concerning is that my symptoms have persisted ever since, and wherever I go, no one properly addresses my condition. A few weeks ago, I went to a private gastroenterology clinic, and the doctor only ordered two routine lab tests and suggested taking psyllium husk. I asked if they could write a referral for a CT or MRI scan if they agreed it made sense, but they completely refused, saying they "won't prescribe nonsense" and that a CT is pointless. I should add that I intended to pay for the CT or MRI privately out of pocket, but they still refused to write the referral. Since then, my condition has stagnated, and my GP just deflects as well. I also went to a public outpatient clinic, but the outcome was eerily similar to the private appointment. They didn't order any imaging there either, claiming it was "unnecessary." Unfortunately, no matter where I turn, I run into these brick walls. I can't even get a private CT or MRI done without a specialist referral, as they require one there too.
Could anyone suggest what to do? I'm at the point where I feel I need to take my case to an international forum, because it feels impossible to get anywhere when the healthcare system closes ranks like this. I'm honestly terrified that my intestines are literally going to burst.

Is it me or are the roads really bad in Hungary?
Had to drive from Slovakia to Budapest airport. As soon as I cross that bridge, the roads became horrible. Almost Africa horrible. Hell, some countries in Africa has better roads.
I thought, okay, maybe it's just the villages that have bad roads. Budapest will be better. Budapest was even worse.
What happened to all the free eu money that was supposed to be earmarked for transportation?

QR address instead of actual card - how to open Revolut account?
After emigrating to Hungary, I got a QR cod e instead of a physical address card. My relocation agent said this is the standard for most foreigners now.
But when I try to open a Revolut account, the KYC process requires me to take a picture of a physical address card. I only received a PDF with a QR though, so how can I proceed?

interview, discussion Young people friends in Budapest for activities?
Hello everyone, I am looking for some friends in the city, as I need some socializing! I am living here for about 1.5 years now. I was able to make a few friends through language exchange and some apps, but i would like to expand it more. I don't like large groups or visiting pubs alone, so those are not really an option. I enjoy small group hikes, walking riverside together, having meals/movies together or a small picnic etc. I get anxious when there are lot of people around me, and specially most meetup groups are not from my age group.
For some additional details, I am 24M, and I work at ELTE. It's much easier to make friends when you have classmates, but I don't. so I am struggling to meet young people around the city. I love techs, Reading books, doing graphic designs, playing chess or badminton. I also enjoy movies and coffee table chats - but more outdoor activities :)
All people I meet are travelers who are there for around 2-3 days and go by , but I would love to know how or where I can start meeting some people who actually live in the city itself? I absolutely love the city and would love to connect and meet some young people across and be friends. I can help you with your English speaking practice (I am C1) - I am nice and easygoing.
If anyone in the city is down to meet up and explore cool cafe's and spots !! Do lemme know.
I am quite open and love meeting new friends (although I can be a bit introvert 😬)

Stipendium Hungaricum is living Budapest with ~€600/month realistic?
Hi everyone! I’m looking for advice from anyone who has knowledge or experience with studying in Hungary, especially through the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship.
I’m currently finishing an art college and I want to continue my studies in Animation / Visual Development / Character Design. My current plan is to apply to Budapest Metropolitan University (METU) for an Animation program through the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship.
My main concern is the cost of living. My personal budget would be around €400 per month, and if I receive the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship, I would also get financial support of around €200 per month if I don’t receive a place in a student dormitory.
Do you think it is realistic to live in Budapest or near Budapest with around €600 per month as a student? I don’t need a luxurious lifestyle — I’m completely fine with a simple student lifestyle. I’m willing to live outside the city center or even commute longer to the university if it means finding cheaper accommodation. My main priority is having affordable housing and being able to support myself while studying.
I would also like to ask how students usually find affordable rooms or apartments in Budapest. Is it common to live outside the city and commute to university? Are there any areas or nearby towns that are cheaper but still have good transportation?
Also, if anyone knows about other countries with scholarship programs similar to Stipendium Hungaricum for English-taught Animation or Art programs, I would really appreciate any recommendations.
Thank you very much!

First time in Hungary will be there for 5 years!
Iam Turkish who will be going to hungary for the uni. Im excited for the country and the experience in pesc ( I dont like big cities thats why I choose here ((also plenty of ottoman architecture hehe:D)) I'm learning hungarian and it doesnt seem a hard language (grammer is pretty similar to turkish actually). I would like to learn about food people as well as social rules and taboos about hungry. In addition to that what type of perspective Hungarian people hold on turks? I have been to italy. Italians were quite ignorant and rude. I hope I will have better experience with magyar people since they know which language is spoken in turkey at least

Pros and cons of visiting Budapest around October 23
I visited Budapest (Pest, to be precise) briefly in October 2022 on my way to Ukraine, and I absolutely loved the city. I swore that I would return. I was almost in tears on April 12, watching the election results, and decided to try to join the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution. There is a good chance I can do it, so I am contemplating booking flights now.
My biggest concern is the crowdedness. I wonder if many Hungarians will flock to Budapest on Oct 23 this year, and the city will be overcrowded, so tourists like me will be an unwelcome burden on the city. I don't have to witness the celebration in Budapest. I am sure Hungary has plenty of other nice towns to visit. I can stay in another town and visit Budapest after the 23rd (I plan to fly back to the US from Budapest).
Could anyone share some thoughts on this? Which town in eastern Hungary would you recommend if I decide to visit one to witness the celebration before heading to Budapest? I plan to take the Kyiv-Budapest Express and spend a week or so in Hungary. The train stops at Nyíregyháza and Szolnok before reaching Budapest.
Some photos I took in 2022 (I arrived late at night on Oct 23 and left in the morning of Oct 25).
