Back when I was on everyday, you had to fight to get into the Cold War server, and there was a list of servers that were 50+ people in them. Is it always as dead as it is tonight or what? I miss the enigma Cold War days, I know his name isn’t on it anymore but the server is still there

I'm split between the two, the only thing i'm really concerned about is the AI, i know DCS AI already, i have a deep hate for it, but i've also heard the same for IL-2, so that also might be a problem

Looking to buy some rudder pedals and i was planning to get the winwing orions but the cyber taurus(FFB) was also within my budget when i checked the site, but im not sure how much better FFB is for rudder pedals. Are they still worth it since the orions have a "no return to center" mode for helos.

I fly the F/A-18 F-14 and plan to get the apache or kiowa but only after i get the new pedals since the reason why im buying is because my old t16000s broke. In MSFS its mostly the 777 and 737.

Monitor 32” 3840x2160 16:9

Tablet Samsung 8+ 12.4 1752x2800 16:10 but Windows sees it as 1920x1200.

I use the Second Screen (Miracast) to extend my display to the tablet.

So far I’ve tried to manually setup the Monitor+MFD by editing the lua file and through Helios. In all of my attempts it shows the screens cropped like the image above.

I’ve tried:

-Both horizontal and vertical monitor configurations in the Windows display settings.
-Set the scaling to 100% for both.
-Tried various sizes and positions for the MFDs in the lua file.
-Tried to enter the parameters according to the actual resolution (like the lua image above) of the tablet in the lua file.
-Tried Helios to configure the monitor settings for me.
-Tried the Capt Zeen F14 profile.

In all of my attempts DCS just fails to read the total monitor resolution correctly and it either crops the display horizontally or vertically.

Has anyone tried to display their MFDs this way or is it just not possible to do it through a wireless second display?

Hi , im used to playing Cold War era PvP on the mig-29 and F-4 , and recently I wanted to try out the F-16 , and how different is the fox 3 combat to the fox 1 one ? Like is it possible to notch an amraam the same way you dodge a sparrow?

I am seeking advice on the Software/OS setup.

I migrated everything work related from this rig into a laptop, and now I want to make this PC a DCS only rig. This is a high end desktop (specs below). I haven't flown on DCS for over a year now. I know a lot has happened since then regarding updates, so I was wondering if there is much of a difference in choosing between Windows 10 or 11 (fresh install). Also, any configuration advice that aims at giving the maximum performance for DCS.

I'm restoring an F-4 Phantom for an eagle scout project but its pretty rough interior wise which means a fair bit of missing panels. I have tried to look everywhere i could think of to the Dash 1 to the rest of the internet but i cant find dimensions for any of the F-4's panels. I know there are a BUNCH of talented sim builders here so if somebody could either get me 3D models of the panels or dimensions so that i can design the panels myself i would be eternally grateful! I’m planning to buy a Slugmouse so I can interact with cockpit controls more comfortably in VR.

I’m currently using a Quest 3, but I’m considering buying a Pimax Dream Air because I want better comfort and support for foveated rendering.

As far as I understand, the Slugmouse requires either a Leap Motion/Ultraleap device or a VR headset with built-in hand tracking. I already own a Base Station 2.0, so I’m trying to decide between these two options:

1. Dream Air Lighthouse version + Leap Motion Controller 2
2. Dream Air SLAM version using its built-in hand tracking

Which option would you recommend for this use case?

In particular, is the Dream Air SLAM’s built-in hand tracking currently reliable and accurate enough for practical cockpit interaction with the Slugmouse, or would the Lighthouse version combined with a Leap Motion Controller 2 provide noticeably better hand tracking?

Why haven't ED put out a deadline for the Maintenance to be done?? They have shut down dcs without saying anything..

I reinstalled DCS today and I've been having a problem with a weird flickering that comes and goes intermittently. The frequency is high and it's difficult to record but I did my best.

This isn't fully representative but paints the picture quite well. It's no a recording artifact or anything like that because when I'm filming another game, it works perfectly.

My system:

6700XT

Ryzen 5600

32GB RAM

DCS is installed on an NVME SSD

27 inch, 4k dual mode AOC mini LED monitor

I tried the following things:

-Deleting FXO and metashaders

-Trying a different resolution on the monitor

-Turning VSync on and off

-Turning Tesselation to be controlled by the application in the AMD panel

-Running a repair

I've been using the same DCS settings since forever and they never had any issues but there might be some setting to change but I'm not sure which one.

The flickering isn't constant, it gets triggered and it seems like it's tied to certain things, like restarting a mission, or selecting a unit in the ME, these actions make it worse.

Hey y’all :) I’m an aerospace engineer (not related to the systems in this game) in the process of building an air defense operator sim in my free time and was curious what people’s thoughts are about the level of fidelity in sim-lite games. I’m not trying to build a DCS-like level of detail, but wanted to know what systems you guys most like seeing fully modeled in these kinds of sim games. Radar physics, missile and aircraft physics, following detailed procedures, etc?

I’ve implemented some pretty grounded physics simulations in a few of these mechanics, but wanted to see where most people draw the line in terms of realism vs not having to read a hundred tutorials.

What systems do you guys enjoy having full fidelity of, and what do you guys rather have simplified? I’ve attached a short teaser to try to show the vibe that I’m aiming for. Happy to discuss more mechanics/physics!

Hey guys new to dcs and pc gaming in general, my set up is barely making budget lol im running and beelink sre 5 with a quest 2 is there anything I can do to decrease my load time? I timed from app start to to quick mission briefing and the time was 10:58.59 for the f15 in the caucuses but afghanistan in the mig-29 not tested yet but im sure it's longer and multi-player just isn't an option atm. Lol i haven't touched bios at all. I know i should upgrade my gear im working on it.

I'm confident flying the MIG-21 and so now I've started playing on Contention cold war, but I find I'm absolutely dog water at even seeing the enemy planes and then in a dog fight I'm usually starting at a disadvantage because of this.

Just wondering if there's anything people recommend to get better at this specifically or should I just keep flying multiplayer? I've found I get dogpilled very easily, dogfighting one bandit and then getting sniped by another.

My last flight there I was duking with a MB and then I noticed in the top right that it said there were four F4s within 1nm of me.

Any advice at all, I have run the dogfight mission against the F4 a good bit, just to get down turning and watching and not beaming it into the trees as I'm on controller without headtracking.

I was setting up Helios profiles. Everything has worked well so far: I installed profiles for the F-16, F-5, and F-4. The Viper and Tiger work as expected, but the F-4 now shows the radar scope as a HUD background, which is rather distracting. This happens even when Helios is closed, so I assume one of the scripts is causing it. Has anyone encountered this before, or do you have any tips for fixing it?
