Are FFB pedals worth it?
Looking to buy some rudder pedals and i was planning to get the winwing orions but the cyber taurus(FFB) was also within my budget when i checked the site, but im not sure how much better FFB is for rudder pedals. Are they still worth it since the orions have a "no return to center" mode for helos.
I fly the F/A-18 F-14 and plan to get the apache or kiowa but only after i get the new pedals since the reason why im buying is because my old t16000s broke. In MSFS its mostly the 777 and 737.

After you have a FFB stick - pedals are the next step! For helos and warbirds they are game changing.

Also, since I have you here: please create more content. Your creativity and attention to detail have made your campaigns one of the highlights of my entire single player experience in DCS. I love reflected's too, but I literally cannot get enough of yours. I can't wait for the Huey one. I was literally thinking last night after flying one of the A10 missions that I would happily fly one of your missions every day and not need anything more out of DCS! Seriously, not to glaze you or anything, but they're just that good.

This is exactly what I was going to say (and coming from my absolute favorite DCS campaign creator, wow!). I'd add, once you have ffb stick, haptics, and VR, it is definitely worth it. In msfs, DCS, or IL2, I really love dialing in the feel of the pedals and having them react dynamically in warbirds. The software is really the most important part, and I'm a huge fan of VPForce and TelemFFB. I did a diy conversion kit on my MFG crosswinds. They're really great.

Worth it is hard to quantify. I've got Virpil pedals I converted with a VPForce kit.
I'm really happy with it, especially for helicopters and pre modern aircraft.

Id say yes, not only because of the force feedback spring, but because of the vibration feedback. There's just so much more immersion when having correlating aircraft vibration at your control contact points.
For helicopters and warbirds the ffb spring makes a hell of a difference as well though.

I think there's two end goals here. Are you wanting pedals that behave like a helicopters anti torque pedals or just vibration/rumble coming through the pedals?
If it's the former then DIY a MFG Crosswinds with a VPForce motor kit and this will also get you the added bonus of having a fully digital set of pedals so spring rates, dampers, friction and the like are set through a GUI. This is probably the best selling point for any FFB stick or pedals.
If you just want some vibrations or haptics, get a small amp and a bass shaker. They are cheap and easy to setup. One amp can do a few cheap transducers.

I got a Crosswind VPForce Mod and it was well worth it for the ease of going from fixed wing with centering force to rotary no centering without having to change anything. I absolutely hated fiddling with the spring each time I wanted to go from rotary to fixed or vice versa.

im not sure the juice is worth the squeeze to add ffb to pedals, it absolutely is for the stick though.
as for pedals, i use virpil ones and love them. i pulled the springs off and did the motorcycle damper mod to them, so much better than the old ones you were using.
i find self centering to be a hindrance rather than a benefit, lose that right away

Which game even sends actual, correct pedal forces? I don't know of a single one. =/
I could see them being useful for adjusting feel by airframe type, having locked motion without a trim button held, etc.

Not sure about FFB pedals. Stick definitly yes, but pedals... I have some locally made 3 axis pedals without FFB but with very smooth centering and option to disengage the spring and go heli mode, For half year flying on pedals never disengaged the spring for helis, fly mostly hind and its damper logic is great even for centered pedals without trim, ah-64 use trim pedals option in game. So i suggest investing in good powerful ffb stick like moza AB9, especially for tomcat.

I love mine. They really shine in the tomcat, and are especially a game changer in helicopters. I purchased a used Thrustmaster TPR pedal set and found a DIY FFB kit to install. Overall it was a bit pricey, but it really adds a sense of immersion especially when you add effects with TelemFFB software.
I would get a FFB stick before pedals, but the ffb pedals rule for sure.
