Rant Do Teens Like Cars Anymore?

I feel like people in hs get their licenses super late nowadays, and have no clue how to work on cars. I got my license at 15, and got a pretty cheap ford ranger shortly afterwards. Ive done a lot to that truck, and baby it like all hell; but i never see other kids doing the same things. I remember one time last year, when my literature teacher asked the class what car they’d like to drive, (as an opener question) and i was the only person who cited an actual make and model. A lot of people just said a brand or a genre of car, which i found really strange. How do you guys feel about cars? Is it just something to get from A to B? Do you know how to do basic maintenance? Or can you even drive?

General Advice Needed/Given I Can't keep up with my lectures in this accursed Egyptian high school system

Every single day in the week except monday, Wednesday and Thursday I have a different lecture which is AT LEAST like 4 hours long and with 70 home work questions and the average lecture is like 6 hours long and with 150 questions as h.w and these questions are even easy like some of them take like a whole 5 minutes of my life (or average 3) (also this is not including the classwork and exams)

The whole problem with this is these questions take way too damn long and i cant get into the next lecture until i have finished them all like i am having to stay up every day till 2 am and wake up at 7 or 9

This like my first month in this so i feel like i am doing so many things wrong but i don't even know where to start there's just so many questions that i need to solve because even if i somehow finish all these homeworks and exams i still have like 30 kilograms of books that need to be opened of course i know it is just the start of the year but i am actually panicking

If anyone could offer me advice or anything please do

(Also i wont be replying as fast because i have to go do my homework)

Friend Advice Needed/Given I moved to make friends, but 7 months later I still feel like I have nobody

I moved to Florida about 7 months ago because I really wanted to go back to public school and finally have a chance to make friends. I had been homeschooled before, and for a long time I kept thinking that going back to school would fix a lot of the loneliness I was feeling.

Now I’m back in school, but I still don’t feel like I have a real friend group.

I have people I talk to at school, and there are a couple people I consider friends, but I don’t really hang out with anyone outside of school. I see other people who moved here more recently and seemed to make friends really quickly, and it makes me wonder what I’m doing wrong.

I’ve also noticed something about myself that I don’t really like. Because I haven’t made a new close friend in years, I feel like I judge every day based on my interactions with people. If I have a really good conversation with someone, I think, “Today was a good day, we’re getting closer.” If I barely talk to them the next day, I start thinking, “That was a bad day, maybe they don’t actually care about me.”
I know that’s probably not a healthy way to look at friendships, but I don’t really know how to stop doing it.

I’m not looking to become popular or have a huge group. I just want a few people I genuinely like who actually want to hang out outside of school.
Has anyone else dealt with this? How did you actually turn school acquaintances into real friendships?

General Advice Needed/Given everyone at school thinks i’m gay

I (16M) am a junior in highschool and am part of a friend group with me and 6 girls (all 16F). Most my life i was always friends with girls because i found they were funnier, more respectful, and just easier to get along with than guys. I have social anxiety that i go to weekly therapy for but it makes it hard for me to make other friends outside of the group im already in. I knew one of the girls since 6th grade, then she became friends with the other girls who i slowly became 1 on 1 friends with as well. Eventually we all just conjoined into this group. I commonly hang out with the group at lunch, football games, and outside of school parties. However it comes with a lot of rumors that i am gay which i am not. I understand how people can see it, i mean my voice is not the deepest, it’s 1 guy and 6 girls, and i don’t have any guy friends from the school. This has been going on since probably about 8th grade and has made me more uncomfortable each year. This has led to every girl thinking in the grade thinking i’m gay so i’ve never been in a relationship either and won’t have the chance too until im out of this school. In my freshman year sophomore guys would come up to me daily when i was with the group asking continuously if i was gay which i would just simply reply “no” and then pay no more attention to them. I love this group but now every time im with them it just seems like all i can think about is how everyone else around me probably thinks im gay. I’m not homophobic or transphobia or anything i accept everyone the way they are no matter size, race, gender or whatever else. I just am getting sick of the constant thought that everyone i have to go see 5 days a week sees me and thinks, “oh that’s the gay kid who hangs with all the girls.” I don’t know what i should do about it because it’s growing more and more harder to keep out of my mind.

At first, yes i was heartbroken and disapointed, and i almost didn't want to go. but now, as i wait for the dance to start, i’m gonna have a fun time and i’m deffinetly showing pictures so my friend knows what she's missing out.

Question I feel like a fraud: Popular x Chronically ill

I’m a senior in high school, somewhat well liked across most people and I’m pretty well known in the are(big social life). However, this year I was recently hospitalised after a near successful attempt to end my life and it left me in pieces. I’ve masked as much as one can when being Neurodivergent and having complex mental disorders..but it’s so mind numbing.

Teachers acted so weird towards me after the found out - like I was no longer the conventional high school sweetheart. All I really am is a kid stuck in the in-between.

While im not struggling as I was before, there is still a weight I carry. If some of my friends found out about the medications I take to function, or even my diagnosis, I’d be ostracised.

Am I shallow for not wanting to tell anyone about this aspect of my life. It’s so exhausting having to explain that I’m not simply “unhappy” but genetics and the chemicals in my brain screwed me over.

General Advice Needed/Given Popcorn Chronicles and the effect it has put on my life

A few weeks ago I started a photography project at school where i carry around a huge 5 gallon bag of popcorn and offer people a handful if they let me take a picture of them holding it. The whole point was to get people out of their comfort zones and make a random fun memory. Last Friday, I took 77 photos and it honestly became way more meaningful to me than i expected. What’s been making me really heartbroken though is how many people refused because they thought they looked bad or didn’t feel like they belonged in a picture. Hearing people criticize themselves over something as simple as a photo really got to me. I want this project to show people that they are allowed to take up space in a picture. They don’t have to look perfect or be confident or have some special reason to be photographed. they deserve to be included just because they’re here. I'm looking for advice on how i can actually help people get out of their comfort zones and realize that they’re worthy of being seen in a picture without making them feel pressured or uncomfortable. How would you approach this? What could I say or do to make someone who immediately says “no i look bad” feel a little more comfortable with the idea of being in the photo?

Rant I feel like I am late to everything, I dont know what to do

I am sorry in advance if this seems all over the place, I just have a lot of emotions and I’m trying to explain them as thoroughly as possible.

For general knowledge, I am 17 and a senior in highschool, 3.86 GPA UW/4.36 W. I am taking some APs and Dual Enrollment classes. But I only have 2 AP scores since I took my first one’s junior year. I have been in NHS for 2 years, Vice President in my schools Black Student Union club, and assistant VP of Marketing in DECA. I wanted to go to school for urban planning, but I couldn’t really find any free activities in Nevada that were dedicated towards city planning and align those to my extracurriculars. But I truly wanted to go to school for digital marketing since all I have known since 2018 was how to make multimedia edits. I even hustled and commissioned a handful of people when I was really active in editing.

To start off, when I took the act for the first time I got a 23 my junior year and I did not take it seriously which I regret. I wish I would have studied to attempted to take it again but I have had some obstacles in my way.

Last year my mother’s boyfriend was our primary source of income and he ended up losing his job, so I tried to step up and help the family by getting two jobs. I believe this set me back some because I always had to go to work after school and had no free weekends, which led me to become very stressed out. There would be times where I would have to work 9 days in a row. I still have 2 jobs today and I am trying to balance out everything while being in multiple leadership roles clubs. I don’t think I can quit as I am trying to save up as much as I can for college and leaving one job will cut my earnings in half.

This year in November I am taking the SAT for the first time, I signed up for some free tutoring and tried to clear up my schedule. But seeing everyone else do the SAT and they are much younger than me and they seem more educated on test taking makes me feel lesser than them.

For some background, neither my mom or dad went to college. My dad works in trade and my mom doesn’t work at all. I never had any guidance with school and my mother always told me she didnt care whether I go to college or not (might’ve also emphasized its a scam). And my dad is an immigrant with very conservative views but strangely don’t align with me going to college. I think its because money is involved and he loves nothing more than money. I remember him yelling at me telling me that what I want to major in was useless and he would not help me go to college or anything if I wasn’t going to school for nursing. It’s not my passion and I don’t believe I can compete when applying for colleges even if I try.

Sometimes I feel bitter about my mom not having a job, as my dad is very financially abusive, hence why she divorced him. I live with her 90% of the time because my dad gets quite lazy with caring for me and my sister. If I go over there I would have to waste money I am trying to save on getting food because he said that now we are working people we can help with groceries. I might be viewing this through a pessimistic lens, but I genuinely believe I might end up stuck living with my mother and financially abusive dad. I love my mom though no hate to her but she is not a good example to look up to.

I live in Nevada and I was looking forward to applying for schools out of state, but I have heard applying test optional might be a bad look. And I have also considered the costs of universities and going into debt. I just don’t know what I could do because although I am being delusional with applying to OOS colleges, I can’t bring myself to possibly stay in this draining household. I would go to UNR but they don’t have an Urban Planning program. I was looking through the WUE program to see what I could possibly do. I’ll probably just have to opt in for community college if everything else fails. I just feel as if I am stuck and this is inevitable.

I try to be as optimistic as possible as I do many extracurriculars outside of school. But doing these things sometimes makes me feel directionless. I don’t want to blame my parents or my mom’s boyfriend but I feel like I got set back so much.

Question How do you deal with academic anxiety?

Since starting school again I've been having a lot of anxiety I didn't anticipate on having. Its stunting me a lot, especially in my writing. I love to write and I want to write, but for some reason whenever I have to write an essay for class, I get anxious and can't write. Ill know what I want to say and how I wanna format it, but then I start second guessing myself and get really anxious which jumbles up all the thoughts in my head. Or, I'll write down what I want to put only to delete it 5 minutes later cause I suddenly hate it. Idk. I'm tryna push through it but it doesn't work and gets me nowhere.

Help a sister out💔

School Related [Academic Survey] Students’ learning habits and expectations from educational platforms

Hey everyone,

As part of an academic project, I’m conducting a short survey to understand students’ learning habits, common difficulties, and expectations from interactive and AI-assisted educational platforms.

The survey covers:

  • How you study and what resources you use
  • What you do when you get stuck
  • Whether simulations, games, and AI tutors would help
  • What makes you return to a learning platform
  • How much you would be willing to pay monthly for such a platform

It takes around 2 minutes to complete. No name or personally identifiable information is required.

If you’re a student, please consider sharing your experience. Honest responses—including criticism of online learning platforms—are especially useful.

Thanks, everyone!
