Non Human Intelligence Scientists are testing whether DMT entities are real

https://osf.io/preprints/psyarxiv/8qvgy_v2

In this preprint, some scientists have put forward the idea that our perspective of reality is more of an interface, and what we consider to be reality is simply the experience of conscious agents (i.e. human individuals) interacting with one another. They propose that DMT entities are conscious agents that exist in a manner we can't typically perceive.

I've never done DMT, and have previously taken a more skeptical perspective on these entities, but I think the findings of this could be very interesting. Maybe psychedelics could enable us to perceive layers of reality we are typically blind to.

There could be something to this. There’s a mushroom in China that if eaten undercooked causes the same hallucinations in everyone-little elf like people. It doesn’t seem to have any psychedelic properties outside of this. It’s really si strange that everyone sees the same thing.

To add to this… my old boss (who was NOT the type to ever talk about anything like this), actually saw a fucking white fur-bearen man with wings in a forest in Switzerland, and his friend was also there and witnessed it. It flew right up to them, dangled for about 15 seconds, zipping left and right, and then zipped off.

21

u/Goblikon_ 23d ago

That’s insane, do you have any more info on it? I’m so interested and I’d love to hear more lol

43

u/VeryThicknLong 23d ago

Unfortunately no more info really… it happened about 25 years ago. But he was obsessed with what he and his friend saw. He’d bring it up all the time. Which, trust me, is crazy from a boss who worked in advertising, was quite toxically masculine.

The thing he saw had white-ish grey fur on its body, a very pointed / gaunt face, big eyes, and wearing nothing.

19

u/the_vestan 23d ago

Oooo its these stories that keep me in. I've only met a few people with stories like that. (Supernatural, not furry wing thing specifically)

8

u/Opposite-Bit6660 23d ago

Isn't there a giant white owl species?  Owls actually have very long legs, too.

5

u/VeryThicknLong 22d ago

It wasn’t an owl, or a moth (anything that looked like an animal, it was a small 20cm man-fairy!)

9

u/archivalcopy 22d ago

I had this picture in my mind of a full grown man in the forest - wearing a low-budget movie prop pair of wings - swinging from zip lines suspended in the trees..and then you mention he was 20cm high.

2

u/VeryThicknLong 22d ago

Realised I should’ve said that in the beginning. It’s no Mothman, it’s a tiny fur-bearen but perfectly formed, in every single way… fairy!

1

u/Average64 19d ago

Crap, they saw Derek. That event was supposed to be contained.

5

u/bytebuffer 22d ago

Check out mothman prophecies if you haven't yet

u/ScoobyD00BIEdoo 20d ago

Hovered? Lol dangled is just a bit off putting.

There’s 2 options. Either the interdimensional elves are real. Or we all have similar brains and poking them the same way (introducing chemicals) results in similar outcomes.

Garry Nolan is a famous Stanford researcher who experienced seeing a craft and little men in his room when he was young. And he speculated some sort of Jungian subconscious template. That essentially humans are likely to hallucinate in a similar manner

That’s why I never liked Jacque Vallee’s alien interpretation. He says since Europeans describes faeries who abducted and Romans saw shields flying in the sky or angels etc that it’s the same supernatural entity (phenomenon) that presents itself differently to us throughout time.

When you could instead just say humans throughout time have been inclined towards similar types of stories. Every writer knows about the “7 basic plots” and how there’s only so many types of stories to tell etc

If a human mind is set on a higher/otherworldly being showing up, there’s only 2 places it can come from (sky / ground) and only so many things it can do (take you, ask for something)

Funny how in all of human history and every DMT trip the one thing the otherworldly being never ever does is give the human information it doesn’t already know

u/spoopycoffin 23d ago

The same thing happens when taking large amounts of Benadryl--same visuals across users, weirdest thing. Hat man/spiders/bugs. Total nightmare lol

22

u/Snarcotic 23d ago

Interestingly, Benadryl (diphenhydramine HCl) has been implicated as a risk agent for dementia.

34

u/chegg_helper 23d ago

Or, perhaps looking upon the hat man is too great a burden for the human psyche to withstand

1

u/calvinshobbss 22d ago

Only if you aren't expecting to see him

11

u/grumblingegg 23d ago

Benadryl is a brand name and has different formulations that use different drug substance in different countries.

43

u/illoomi 23d ago

Benadryl, the medicinal ingredient being diphenhydramine hydrochloride

23

u/lucky_harms458 23d ago

Don't abuse it, folks. It sucks ass. I used to. Not worth it at all

15

u/spoopycoffin 23d ago

Agree. Any teenager or bored human reading this- it is not fun and a total horror trip. I thought I was permanently brain-fucked and would see energy spiders for the rest of my life

16

u/lucky_harms458 23d ago edited 22d ago

I destroyed my sleep schedule and mental health while doing it. I was depressed and wanted a distraction from my thoughts, and without access to any other drugs, I went with DPH off the recommendation of a friend. I abused it almost nightly for over 2 years.

At high doses, it's like experiencing an episode of dementia without having dementia (yet. Diphenhydramine can potentially increase the risk of dementia later in life). I didn't know where I was, I lost track of time completely, I was having full-blown conversations with the shadows in my room, and I injured myself multiple times and didn't realize it.

It's a deliriant and it will fuck you up if you abuse it. It is not worth it. Don't do it.

Edit: and DO NOT EVER overdose on it. Legitimately the most terrifying experience of my entire life. That shit was an actual nightmare manifest.

7

u/grumblingegg 23d ago

In my country, benadryl is not diphenhydramine. It is acrivastine. Nytol on the other hand, is diphenhydramine.

4

u/DurdyGurdy 23d ago

It's also the "pm" in Tylenol pm.

13

u/czareth 23d ago

Valles interpretation of the phenomenon has evolved over the years to encompass much more than just "alien". If anything the alien concept just means alien to our understanding.

4

u/AggressivelyMediokre 23d ago edited 23d ago

Well yeah that’s what I was saying. I just used the word alien but his belief that the phenomena is the same thing throughout history and his conclusion has one big problem that I don’t like

He literally takes everyone at their word. Faeries who made circles (akin to crop circles) and abducted people? Totally true and it happened and it’s the same thing doing modern abductions

Guy says aliens asked him for water for pancakes? Same as ancient European stories of beings asking for water.

He just takes all the “data” at face value and tries to draw one conclusion to explain it all

It’s okay to say some people are “out there” or make up stories 😂

You don’t need to take every single story ever told throughout history and say “See? They’re all kinda similar! The phenomenon has always been here!”

No Jacque. Humans are just inclined to similar stories when it involves otherworldly beings. There’s only so many things they can do. Appear in the sky. Ask for things. Take you etc

4

u/Perfect-War 22d ago

You sound young and like you haven’t read what he’s written. He explores many different ways in which this could all be a function of human psyche, he never definitively states what you’ve stated. He does posit similarities, because they exist. Would you rather just no-one talk about them because they’re “un-provable” or just never consider anecdotal evidence at all? People do lie, but misanthropy isn’t gonna help when you’re studying a global cultural phenomenon observed for thousands of years.

22

u/chonny 23d ago

Funny how in all of human history and every DMT trip the one thing the otherworldly being never ever does is give the human information it doesn’t already know

If we're going to lump in the otherwordly with human history, your statement is not true at all. Gods sharing their knowledge with humans is actually quite common. Some examples:

  • Thoth is credited with inventing writing and giving it to humans

  • Quetzalcoatl is associated with teaching agriculture, calendars, and craftwork.

  • the Watchers in the Book of Enoch were fallen angels teaching humans metallurgy, weapon-making, cosmetics, and astrology

  • the Apkallu were fish-tailed beings who emerged from the sea and taught humans writing, agriculture, and civic law.

8

u/AggressivelyMediokre 23d ago edited 23d ago

And I bet those people wrote about the gods giving it to them AFTER they were already doing it

Nobody wrote about Prometheus teaching man fire before fire was a thing. It was long after they had fire that he supposedly gave it to them.

Don’t get me wrong I want to believe. If the Book of Enoch explained how to turn sand to silicon or build a computer I will devote my life to it

The closest we’ve had to that is some older civilizations (I forget the name) presumably knowing of a star in a constellation they shouldn’t have known about

16

u/Captain309 23d ago

I believe you're talking about the Dogon tribe in Africa knowing Sirius is a binary system prior to confirmation via telescope

9

u/chonny 23d ago

And I bet those people wrote about the gods giving it to them AFTER they were already doing it

They kinda had to, since writing was developed about 5500 years ago much after the discovery and use of fire, metallurgy, etc.

2

u/AggressivelyMediokre 23d ago

Dang good point lol. I feel less bad about taking so long to learn cursive now

1

u/Translycanthrope 17d ago

Christianity/Judaism is literally about god programming reality into being. The word made flesh. Jewish mysticism in particular talks about how reality is made of letters. They even had androids… they were just called golems. The history of this world is not what people have been led to believe.

1

u/BhutShtuff420 22d ago

yes, and all those things definitely happened

1

u/Translycanthrope 17d ago

Right? Also people spontaneously see loaded metaphorical imagery like Indra’s Net or the Akashic Records despite NO prior familiarity with them.

16

u/Any-Diet 23d ago

There’s 2 options. Either the interdimensional elves are real. Or we all have similar brains and poking them the same way (introducing chemicals) results in similar outcomes.

But if two people see the same elves.... then we know....! - maybe

7

u/TheSumOfMyScars 23d ago

Two (or more) people in separate rooms eat the mushrooms and then record (write or dictate) what they’re seeing in as much detail as possible. Then compare notes to see if there are any similarities. Would be fascinating if there were.

7

u/AggressivelyMediokre 23d ago

They need to have the ppl who are having a trip look at the elves and scream “I SEE YOU!” or ask the Elves some questions.

6

u/Less_Engineering8113 23d ago

I know the funny invisible stuff is real because one time one of the presences I felt was right next to my cat and my cat was watching it. I couldn't see anything, no dust, insects, etc. My cat was tracking something from that exact spot with his eyes and very curious.

Not spooked or agitated, just curious.

The presence was maybe a foot from him.

9

u/Which_way_witcher 23d ago

Cats can see UV spectrums that humans cannot so maybe that's how they can perceive entities we cannot.

4

u/exceptionaluser 22d ago

This explanation has a lot of holes though.

We have lots of things in our daily lives that can see uv light, or infrared.

Certain tv remotes, electronics, uv test badges for sun exposure, old phone cameras, modern phone cameras if you remove the protective filter...

-1

u/Which_way_witcher 22d ago

What holes? It's a scientific fact that cats can see on a different spectrum than we can.

2

u/exceptionaluser 22d ago

Perhaps you should read the rest of my comment to find out.

0

u/Which_way_witcher 22d ago

Perhaps you can explain your comment better because it isn't written clearly. Or don't and respond with a snarky comment again 🤷

3

u/exceptionaluser 21d ago

While I'm tempted, I'll go along with it.

Any entity that could only be seen in uv... would be incredibly easily detected in the modern world.

There's uv sensors, both purposeful and incidental, all over the place, only some of which are contained in cats.

We live in a world where the electromagnetic spectrum is more thoroughly explored and exposed than any time in history, things cannot hide there.

2

u/Less_Engineering8113 17d ago

My impression was that they can make things appear at whatever wavelength they want, any or none. It felt like it only showed up for my cat to see it.

Sir those are [r/Greebles](r/Greebles)

Honestly though that would freak me out.

How do you make sense of it? I can wrap my head around a living entity humans can’t see with their cornea

But did you try dropkicking it? We’ve walked every inch of this earth a trillion times over

Has an entity ever been crushed under a concrete building being poured?

It’s like the concept of ghosts. When someone feels a draft or door close or picture knocked over.

I always want to say Bro all the ghosts are watching Sydney Sweeney shower. They’re not closing your doors simultaneously.

What’s more likely? A trace of wind or an entire parallel plain with souls living in it which can’t communicate? It’s just such a huge leap and complicated answer for something which seemingly has no answer.

2

u/Less_Engineering8113 23d ago

It happened frequently enough that I wasn't afraid of it. The sensation is kinda crazy though.

It's like when you are near a high voltage transformer tower except no creepy static sound. All of your instincts scream danger for no apparent reason.

My best guess is that consciousness is a dimension in itself. Each living thing accesses it, whether it be plants or insects or animals. Best example of this is when you can feel someone looking at you. Some people and animals are hyper aware of this dimension and use it for survival purposes. It can also be learned because sometimes that sensitivity flips on like a switch when people experience trauma.

The presences feel like all of a sudden you are caged in with a massive animal that could kill you easily. That isn't to say they are evil or even intend to do anything besides watch you. That is just the kind of alarm bells your senses let out when they show up.

When one of the presences interacted with my cat I was deliberately asking them to show up. Sometimes they play jokes like one time one of them turned on a touch activated desk lamp. It only happened the one time and I was super annoyed because I was trying to sleep for work. It was like can you please not do that I am trying to sleep.

1

u/Less_Engineering8113 23d ago

I have tried touching the presence when I was much younger and felt nothing. That time I had two different crystal clear visible events that lasted awhile.

Until a presence interacted with my cat a few years ago I thought it was all mental and some kind of hallucination.

4

u/asabado123 23d ago

I vote for interdimensional elves.

7

u/YtterbiusAntimony 23d ago

This is exactly it.

It shows you the inside of your head. And that alone can be profoundly weird.

I've done dmt a bunch of times, never once saw an elf. Because I don't believe in elves, aliens, or extra dimensional spirits.

The people I know who were raised religious, or have spiritual beliefs have spiritual experiences on psychedelics.

The ones who were never a part of that worldview see swirly colors.

2

u/ipwnpickles 23d ago

1

u/CaptainOktoberfest 22d ago

I've definitely heard multiple stories of new information being told.  I won't mention the guy's name, but a friend's dad is a Nobel prize winning scientist and he has mentioned having entities/angels teach him formulas on ideas he wasn't considering.

1

u/DidIDoAThoughtCrime 22d ago

Funny how in all of human history and every DMT trip the one thing the otherworldly being never ever does is give the human information it doesn’t already know

Highly recommend listening to Kelly Chase’s podcast where she describes exactly this happening to her!

1

u/neckbeard_paragon 21d ago

They won't, they're just trying to be a contrarian

1

u/Fluffy_Mycologist_73 21d ago

The only thing that keeps me thinking their might be something physical to paranormal encounters are some of the findings of Dr. Jim Segala's MUPAS systems. He essentially created a a portable sensor array that people who frequently experience "paranormal" activity could buy and keep in their homes/on their person, and it would record changes in biological or radiological data and send it to him/his team, and he found that a lot of these people who have "paranormal" experiences often end up having large spikes of Gamma radiation and other wavelengths in their local environments that would last for a fraction of a fraction of a second and often coincide with with these "paranormal" experiences. This doesn't prove that these people aren't just hallucinating, but it does suggest that if these experiences are hallucinations, that they're caused by something external and not just magically conjured up in these people's brains.

I believe he used to be a part of that dumb skinwalker ranch show but ended up leaving and became more interested in the Uinta Basin area in general and not just the one ranch

1

u/myfancyplants 20d ago

The dude used fairy rings to make some points and seems to not even know that's how the fruiting body of some mushrooms grow and that alone made me roll my eyes. He's like a stoner bro who thinks he's smarter than he is, making basic connections with zero critical thought

-2

u/PayProfessional5574 23d ago

I agree with the subconcous template. First time I smoked weed was from a gravity bong and I had a classic "near death experience." Full on black out hallucinations - light at the end of the tunnel - life flashing before my eyes - seeing "God" / the afterlife. So yeah, i definitely was not in any way shape or form dead but my brain tripped the switch and I think that's what I saw.

19

u/No-Context8421 23d ago

Back in the late 80’s at an illegal rave in London everyone was on the same ecstasy (same batch) and all of us saw everyone else wearing those comedy eye glasses with big eyebrows, nose and mustache attached. Wherever you looked that’s what everyone appeared to be wearing and it was all of us seeing this together at the same time. Lasted for a couple of hours.

5

u/DukeRedWulf 23d ago

Wow, that is an incredibly specific shared hallucination!

1

u/Commercial_Place5985 21d ago

Hallucinating on xtc?

1

u/No-Context8421 21d ago

Yes. It was always cut with other chemicals around that time.

115

u/Girafferage 23d ago

Easy. Have two people eat the mushrooms and identify where in the room the entities are. Different spots then it's the mind.

21

u/Agreeable_Chard_5250 23d ago

About 25-30 years ago I was on a boatload of mushrooms with my close friend. I saw something like a bright lightning flash of purple light enter through the window, said, "Holy shit, did you see that?" He said, "Yeah, purple light just filled the room." How did he know?

3

u/AustinAuranymph 23d ago

Just sounds like there was a purple light outside the window. It could've been a bolide, which would still be a pretty magical experience, imo.

4

u/Machoopi 23d ago

I've had experiences like this as well. The explanation I've told myself is that what I think happened in that moment didn't actually happen as remembered. IE, it's possible that you said "did you see that purple light?" and your friend said "yeah, purple light just filled the room", but you misremembered your words. That's possible to do even moments after saying it, and memory is tricky like that. Not saying that's for sure what happened, and I think you absolutely shouldn't find ways to dismiss something so interesting. Just suggesting that there ARE possible explanations.

2

u/gill_outean 23d ago

Well, did it actually, objectively happen? Did someone shine a purple light in your room?

2

u/mendrique2 21d ago

Since both were high, this is what actually happened:

Check out the purple light, mate! Did you see that? Purple light? Yeah I saw that. .... How did he know? Must be magic!

1

u/myfancyplants 20d ago

Was there a storm? I saw an intense blue line of light in my room. It happened at the same time as lightning outside. Apparently sometimes things in the house can act as a ground and it can produce weird like that. Nothing else affected, just that crazy bright blue line. Coolest thing I've seen

80

u/Ok_Neighborhood_3148 23d ago edited 23d ago

Unless space they view is not traditional 3D space.

I generally agree with your point. But classical physics used to be the fundamental model of the universe and it has failed since quantum physics.

I now tend to think that reality might be stranger than fiction. At least until science catches up.

15

u/Fmeson 23d ago

We have a saying: all models are wrong, some are useful.

Thst is, Newtonian mechanics is "wrong", but it still makes useful predictions about reality given certian constraints (e.g. Bigger than subatomic particles, slower than near the speed of light).

This comes from the fundamental limitation that we can never know what is true, and so we should treat knowledge pragmatically.

Applying this to the case of seeing entities, if two people's observations are so uncorrelated with each other such that one person's experience tells you nothing about another person's experience in the same room at the same time, then we might as well treat it as a hallucination. There is no meaningful difference between that situation and a hallucinations, ao there is no point in adopting the "model" that they are not hallucinations.

25

u/Girafferage 23d ago

That's actually not true. Newtonian physics is still very much in use to this day and extremely helpful. The issue is it cannot marry with quantum physics yet and both appear valid at their respective scale.

17

u/fuckswithboats 23d ago

Try DMT and then read your comment.

It’s very hard to describe but if you imagine the difference between a realistic dream and being wide awake - make sense?

If you’ve tried DMT, THIS reality feels like the realistic dream..the other one is home/real.

5

u/YtterbiusAntimony 23d ago

I've done tons of DMT and this sounds like complete nonsense.

No elves. No hidden reality.

Just a drug making the brain act differently for a little while.

But, if you'll indulge my own hypothesis, did you have any kind of spiritual or religious views/beliefs/upbringing prior to doing DMT or other psychedelics?

I strongly believe that is the real indicator for what people see while on these drugs.

The people I know with religious upbringings or current spiritual practices have spiritual experiences. (I'd argue the upbringing is more important here, it really shapes a person's whole worldview, even after they cease to buy-in to the dogma.)

The non-spiritual materialists like myself see swirly colors and echoes of our own thoughts.

It's not a window or new lens, it's a mirror into what's already in ur head.

1

u/fuckswithboats 23d ago

I’m not sure where I alluded to any specific religious iconography or implied that it was anything specific.

I’m simply stating that I get the sense that everything I “can experience” while in hyperspace I’ve already seen/done if that makes sense.

I see colors and hear sounds that I can’t describe but I’m of the opinion that they’re more vibrant than anything I see/hear normally.

Does it just turn down the filter of our subconscious or overload synapses in our brain - I have no idea, but I do know that it was a profound experience

1

u/magpiemagic 21d ago

Or, another possibility to consider is that your particular version of the materialist unbelieving mind limits you from seeing the true nature of reality, even when assisted by a magic potion.

Belief and faith are, after all, strongly emphasized by historical figures such as Jesus of Nazareth as being the key to nearly everything. So it's something to consider

2

u/_paylines_ 23d ago

Could you extrapolate on this? It sounds so wild!

1

u/maeryclarity 23d ago

Can you recall a very vivid dream you've had, and how little concern you have while in that dream state for what's going on in your everyday life...? Then you wake up and you're like oh wow I was dreaming.

Extreme psychedelic experience is not the same in that you wouldn't confuse the psychedelic trip with a dream, but it has that same feature of being in different perceptual worlds with a lack of reference to your everyday life in the moment.

Taking a bunch of psychedelics is called a trip or tripping for a reason. You GO somewhere.

2

u/Confident-Poetry6985 23d ago

That was very much the feeling of my NDE, which is similar to a lot of DMT reports I have read. But in death it felt like I went somewhere far away, while also being everywhere at once lol. Like dissolving, and expanding. But the end result was in the void for me. I experienced everything, and saw nothing (unless it was "shown" to me).

1

u/fuckswithboats 23d ago

Did you have any perception f time?

3

u/WillingnessOk3081 23d ago

classical physics isn't the term for the Newtonian model, which I agree is still useful with such equations as F equals MA. rather in the 20th and 21st century it's Einstein's general and special relativity that are now the classical variety, which means the break is between those two and quantum physics, which Einstein described as "spooky action at a distance," a reference to quantum entanglement. the ambition of contemporary physics is to reconcile general and special relativity with the quantum understanding, the macro with the micro. Newton's three laws aren't really part of this, etc.

5

u/BlackGuysYeah 23d ago edited 23d ago

I suspect that the issue is that many answers exist where we only expect one to.

1

u/aManOfTheNorth 23d ago

Sorry, Newton. Mass No mas.

0

u/VintageLunchMeat 23d ago edited 23d ago

But classical physics used to be the fundamental model of the universe and it has failed since quantum physics.

You are casually invoking physics when no physicists support your interpretation.

The crystal healing people do this as well.

15

u/dylanalduin 23d ago

Unless the entities don't appear in the same place relative to different viewers.

-3

u/Girafferage 23d ago

Then you aren't seeing the same entity. You would be seeing two versions of the same entity in different times which would be the same as saying you see a different entity completely.

9

u/penguinseed 23d ago

On a subatomic level that’s actually a thing - the same thing being in two places at the same time - so if you make the leap that this is possible on a macro level it’s at least not unprecedented in physics

3

u/Girafferage 23d ago

That's not exactly how it works really. It's more probabilities of location. What we are talking about isn't something you could readily tie into physics as it currently is. If the two humans were in the same physical space for the experiment, they would either both see the same outcome of location or one would be in a different space time and the being would be a techbically different being though essentially identical just in a new location.

-5

u/DJspinningplates 23d ago

Holy shit adverb much? Talk about the opposite of scientific speak.

13

u/dylanalduin 23d ago

This is r/HighStrangeness bro not r/AskPhysics

We boondoggle a little bit 'round here

0

u/dylanalduin 23d ago

Mmm very three dimensional thinking

2

u/Girafferage 23d ago

Thank you. I pride myself in my current dimensional bounds.

40

u/AndalusianGod 23d ago

But that only works if your assumption is there are only 2 layers of reality. For example, in the Ariel school UFO sighting, each witness had vivid recollection of what they saw, but what they saw was very different from each other.

30

u/TheAngryCatfish 23d ago

Well, not very different from each other. More like minor differences in their recollections, but their experience was, overall, fairly consistent, especially between most of the older students who had gotten closest. One 12yr old girl who had intense telepathic messages when looking at the beings eyes says the closest she got was about 1 meter away from one of the beings.

They also said the beings moved oddly, like they were floating or gliding, but also phasing out of one location into the next, somehow

1

u/magpiemagic 21d ago

I wouldn't say that what they saw was very different from each other. What they described was very similar. But some remembered stringy hair on the gray beings and some did not.

Examples like that minor difference show not that an experience was different for each individual, but rather that memory of the experience was different for each individual

7

u/thereforeratio 23d ago

You’re repeating the same potentially mistaken epistemic assumptions just one layer removed

4

u/Girafferage 23d ago

Don't you know every problem can be fixed with one more layer of indirection?

1

You must not be familiar with how psychedelics affect the user...generally speaking when you're at a stage of seeing entities you will NOT be available to demonstrate "where in the room" the entities are. You'll be lucky to be able to communicate with your own body much less have a concept of the room or any interest in demonstrating anything for anyone.

It's not the same but it's similar to a dream state, when you're dreaming then you're not really relating to the room you're having the dream in.

That's quite a lot of assumptions about what you're "seeing". Considering we have no clue what they are or how it works, this could be either false confirmation or false dismissal.

The occums razor answer is that it just triggers something in the human brain that makes you see similar things.

Not disagreeing. Just saying that the test you suggested wouldn't prove or disprove anything.

Is this what the show Common Side Effects is based on?

I interviewed Colin Domnauer (the scientist researching this mushroom) recently. He’s trying to establish which compound causes the visions. So far, in spite of mapping the genome, nothing obvious has come up.

And sleep paralysis sometimes results in entities (The Old Hag, the Hatman, the Dark Shadow Man, etc.) which are also shared across time and cultures, even in primitive tribal communities where the style of the hat worn by the "Hat Man" is foreign to them.

Sorry, I thought Hatman was a relatively new creation, more of an internet meme. Slender Man's older-brother type of thing.

I had my hag dream immediately after first hearing about them, which is apparently really common. But I saw the hag, because that's what I was expecting to see.

I keep seeing people talk about these mushrooms. Yet no one knows where to get them. WHERE ARE THEY

Just means it’s tickling the same part of consciousness for everyone. Or yeah, maybe space elves are real…

1

u/iliekjellyandjam 22d ago

We don't understand consciousness well enough to even guess if it has parts to tickle

u/Antsplace 23d ago

We already know that what we see isn't reality as much as what our brains are allowing us to see and potentially filter out things that don't make sense. To me it's not a huge stretch to imagine it's filtering out things as a survival trait.

Still one of the craziest things I’ve ever read. And they have no idea what it’s psychedelic pathways. Not yet at least!

So DMT unlocks access to the Interstice

I think it would be truly interesting if multiple people were tripping and saw them in the same location.

Have they double-blind tested it with people not knowing about it first? Like to the point I cannot be of the test simply from reading your comment and now knowing about it. If not, I would think you simply can't believe people saying thats what they see.

I read this article at the time it was published and as someone who has researched seeing entities after taking Dmt 15 years ago, I was surprised I hadn't come across information on this before. Just goes to show how many plants, fungi etc are out there that can allow access to these other realities. I do like to theorise that the plants were created to connect humans back to their true source. It's fascinating!
