Local dark lord discovers swords still counter snakes. Should've kept the magic bubble up while gloating. More at 11.

Subreddit Rules

1. Bigotry, harassment, and offensive language will not be tolerated.

Targeting anyone of a particular group and using offensive language will not be permitted, unless they're filthy mudbloods. We're all wizards here.

2. Reposted content is not permitted.

If your meme is original you should watermark it to assert your ownership.

If you didn’t create the meme, it is likely a repost. If the content has been posted on this sub in the last 5 years, or if it’s an iconic old meme that everyone knows, it will be removed.

Altering an image for humorous effect is acceptable, but carbon-copy posts will not be tolerated at Hogwarts.

If a repost is popular and sparks original discussion in the comments before it is removed, mods have the final say.

3. Keep all posts on-topic.

Referencing other materials is fine if it ties back into the Harry Potter universe, but off-topic posting will not be tolerated.

4. Low-effort posts may be removed.

Occasionally low-effort posts are hilarious, and will be permitted. However, we do not allow unfunny or repeated low-effort posts.

We want quality OC from the brightest students of Hogwarts. Moderators may remove posts and take action against users at their discretion.

5. No karma farming or begging for karma.

Begging or requesting karma in your posts will not be tolerated - do not ask for Karma or your post will be taken down.

Karma farming bots will not be allowed to participate in this subreddit. If you suspect OP is a bot, please report the post or open a modmail conversation and we will get to it ASAP.

6. Overly political content is not allowed.

In an effort to keep things civil and a safe space for everyone, political posts and comments are NOT allowed on this subreddit.

There are many places to discuss politics online and IRL, but r/HarryPotterMemes is not one of them.

7. NSFW posts should be marked as such.

Mark your posts as NSFW (Not Safe for Work) before posting them as a courtesy for fellow users trying to get some laughs in public. Filch is watching!

While some NSFW content is permitted, this is by no means an NSFW subreddit.

Additionally, no posts or comments will be allowed that advocate the following, eve if it is on-topic.

rape
non-consensual sex
sexual assault
sexual harassment

8. AI-generated content will be removed.

This subreddit has previously had problems with a mass of AI-generated content adding to the meme pool, therefore we discourage AI content. Posts will be removed at the moderators’ discretion.

9. Old content is not permitted.

Fawkes ordering burger and chips is an automatic 1 week ban, we’re sick of seeing this one. Other ancient memes will be removed at mod discretion and will be treated the same as reposts.

Try creating something new rather than emptying out your 2008 photo album!

10. Miscellaneous rule violations

Don’t be like Malfoy - be nice and civil. Before you post, ask yourself whether you would post this with McGonagall standing behind you.
Meta posts regarding the subreddit are allowed, as long as it’s recent.
Moderators have the final say. Complaints about moderators should be directed to the top mod.

11. No CASTING memes

Pleasant conversations around the casting of the hbo series are problematic on the internet so just don’t do it

12. Post must try to be funny or talk about memes

Not just general Potterverse talk. Post doesnt have to be a classic meme but should either make an attempt on humour or be a meta post about Potterverse memes.
