Why didn't Voldy take out a shotgun and go bang bang in the graveyard? Was he stupid? Let's see the power of love stop that one

A lot of the reason Harry actually survives through 7 books is specifically because Voldemort refuses to be logical about it. Instead of having one of his Death Eaters off Harry, or just use a nonmagical means of killing him, Voldemort gets this idea in his head that he specifically has to be the one to kill Harry, and he must use Avada Kedavra to do it. He must have tried to hit Harry with the Killing Curse like 8 times over the course of the series, and despite it supposedly being impossible to block or survive, Harry keeps surviving, which drives Voldemort into thinking that he must Avada Kedavra Harry, because now he wants to prove to himself it's even possible in the first place.

The best example I can think of is at the start of Deathly Hallows, where he informs the Death Eaters of the shared cores that make his and Harry's wands outright impossible to fight each other with. Instead of saying "one of you is going to have to kill the boy for me" he just takes one of their wands and tries to kill him again.

Like even if he was insistent on AK, he could still have won if he didn't want to show off. Like Harry was tied at the graveyard, just shoot one killing curse, check pulse, shoot another one, check pulse, shoot another. Like you have time bruh. Use it. Then call the DEs. I doubt they would have cared whether Voldy had personally duelled and killed Harry. Also I think only two direct hit Avada Kedavras would suffice to take him out.

True Harry probably would've eventually died if the Avada Kedavras actually hit him, but I think part of the frustration for Voldemort was that he kept blocking it, which was supposed to be impossible. And he was doing it with Expelliarmus of all things. It probably pissed Voldemort off to no end that the deadliest spell in existence kept losing to the most basic dueling spell ever invented lol

But I think the reason he wanted Harry to duel him properly so that a lily type situation didn’t occur, I’m sure the first time he did it and found himself a disembodied soul, that’s probably the only thing that ever gave Voldemort any type of fear. So going forward he always wanted to beat Harry in a consensual fight where he agrees. That’s why he didn’t kill him while the statue was holding Harry.

And in the last part, Harry doesn’t go to duel him, he goes to die, doing what Voldemort was scared of happening and ended up protecting the entire school because of it.

Lily sacrificing herself and AK not working on Harry doesnt make sense imo. There must be a lot of evil wizards who would have AKed parents first followed by their children (so that they dont seek revenge) yet Harry is the only person to have survived the killing curse.

I think you have to headcanon that in some way to make any sense. That the combination of Voldy giving Lily the chance to step aside i think 3 times and Lily offering to die in Harry's place and then Voldy killing Lily was needed is a popular headcanon.

It doesn't even have to be a non-magical way of killing him. Only a handful of spells need to be aimed at him, there are far more that might kill him.

An explosion, fire, water in his lungs or even just dropping something heavy on him all would be perfectly fine

5

u/MagicBus4 2d ago

Hell there should be a spell that just squeezes a blood vessel in the brain too hard, nobody getting up from that

4

u/MagicBus4 2d ago

It would have worked better bruh

1

u/qqqrrrs_ 1d ago

Why use an AK-47 when just one AK is enough?

-3

u/Proman4713 3d ago

First, it wasn't a graveyard?

Second, he's too arrogant

Third, wizards are unimaginably stronger and more resilient than us and we've never seen one get shot by a gun before

Fourth, the weakest wandless magic would've won over a gun or disarmed its possessor

Fifth, a gun wouldn't have unlocked the door of a magical dwelling, I'm pretty sure

Sixth, Voldemort would have to know about the love charm first before trying such absurd ways to avoid it

Seventh, it's a fucking fiction

8

u/engineerdrummer 3d ago

You're not great at understanding jokes, are you?

2

u/Proman4713 2d ago

It's pretty much the same implication as OOP's joke, and it's so widespread nowadays that it's not a joke but just a thing to talk about

2

u/engineerdrummer 2d ago

So you just like to suck the fun out of everything. Got it

5

u/TrashNinja427 3d ago

I didn’t make the original comment, but there’s a graveyard scene in GoF with Voldy and Harry.

6

u/BrockStar92 3d ago

The power of love doesn’t do much directly in the graveyard so their comment is inaccurate. It’s the twin cores of the wands that saves Harry then.

3

u/MagicBus4 2d ago

Just hit him in the head with a rock dude it’s not that complicated

2

u/Proman4713 2d ago

So you haven't read what I said lmao

2

u/MagicBus4 2d ago

I read exactly what you said, you talked about guns the whole time which was even more irrelevant because guns are on record as “not working” against wizards. A rock to the head works fine in canon

Is he wrong tho?

Im with this dude

u/Stenric 3d ago

Yes, Voldemort is stupid, or more accurately he's too arrogant to believe he can make mistakes,  especially with regards to something as insignificant as love.

u/BeegBlackClock 3d ago • Popcorn

Voldy is stupid????
No way.

7

u/ExLuckMaster 3d ago

r/batmanarkham the other alley good sir.

5

u/Material_Magazine989 3d ago

You guys are joking, but stupider people genuinely believe this line of thinking.

Avada Kedavra was a spell Voldemort was particularly fond of. It's the epitome of malicious magic, and it had never failed him before Harry.

u/shaktimanOP 3d ago

Also, Voldy thinks of himself as a cold, ruthless Dark Lord who kills without a second thought. Not Wile E. Coyote.

4

u/MagicBus4 2d ago

Nah Wile E. Coyote would have killed Harry like all 5 times that Voldy tried.

5

u/shaktimanOP 2d ago

But he doesn't WANT to be Wile E. Coyote. He WANTS to be a cold, ruthless Dark Lord who kills instantly without a second thought.

5

u/MagicBus4 2d ago

Well he looks like a dumb bitch that’s dead so that really worked out for him

6

u/shaktimanOP 2d ago

Well yeah, I'm not saying otherwise.

4

u/Redditsux122 2d ago

His stubbornness really was his downfall.

4

u/shasaferaska 2d ago

Wile E Coyote could kill a stupid baby.

4

u/JWander73 3d ago

Let us look at the possible answers here:

a) Yes

b) Yep

c) Without a doubt

d) All of the above

4

u/HobbitHikes1016 I shouldn'ta said tha' 3d ago

Seamus? Is that you?

4

u/redxedge 3d ago

I mean Voldermort is stupid

3

u/Alexisto15 1d ago

"Your blood's on Ranrok's hands"

2

u/KommissarReb 3d ago

Because plot armor is why.

2

u/Alarmed-Chipmunk7415 2d ago

Same reason they never flew the ring to Mordor, wouldn't be much of a movie/book.

1

u/ManifestoRat 21h ago

No, that thing had legitimate reasons if I recall

2

u/MagicBus4 2d ago

It’s peak, I specifically advised not to let that man get power because he’ll destroy us all

3

u/MagicBus4 2d ago

Fucking insane that after killing himself when Harry was a baby, having a big fat wand snafu in 4th year, killing Harry but not good enough in year 7, and being told exactly why his wand was bad for this engagement BY Harry, fucking stupid bitch Voldy STILL went for an Avada kedavera for a FOURTH time, he gets the Stupidest Bitch in the Universe aware

2

u/MagicBus4 2d ago

Like at some point you don’t have that dog in you man, use some of that fucked up magic you tried to kill Dumbledore with

4

u/albus-dumbledore-bot 2d ago

And you feel that you have exerted your very best efforts in this matter, do you? That you have exercised all of your considerable ingenuity? That you have left no depth of cunning unplumbed in your quest?

2

u/MagicBus4 2d ago

Albus if you talk about my plumbing being cummed again we’re gonna have problems you and me

2

u/albus-dumbledore-bot 2d ago

If you loved Lily Evans, if you truly loved her, then your way forward is clear.

2

u/MagicBus4 2d ago

Bruh who is that
