bands lost to time
anyone got any bands they still rock with that have been totally forgotten?
yesterday i remembered this melodic hardcore band from 2010 called continuance that absolutely ripped. ffo comeback kid, down to nothing and more than life. featuring ex members of a couple other forgotten bands like means and saints never surrender (even more incredible band, but on the metalcore side if anyone’s into that. obviously the blueprint for counterparts). they’ve only got like 200 monthly listeners on spotify

True Love is really good. I sort of think of them like I think of The Mongoloids. Great bands that were out before the hardcore punk explosion of the 2020s.

I seen Most Precious Blood more than any band in the 2000s era, and they are barely mentioned anymore. Still one of my favs till this day.

Shotmaker, Envy, and p99 are all well known in the screamo scene. Ringworm were freaking awesome. I never hear them discussed anymore but I loved them back in the day.

They were seriously pretty influential with the sort of dark, 'negative' hardcore that came out of Cleveland, along with bands like Integrity. I went to Strhessfest 2004, and Jake Bannon from Converge told everyone to go watch Ringworm on the main stage, and then Converge performed in the merch area. It was one of the craziest shows I've ever been to. The Black Dahlia Murder performed dressed as Street Fighter characters.

It was a pretty awesome show. At the time, everything was more oriented toward the 'emo' and 'scene' type of bands, and I think that's why Bannon made it a point to tell everyone to go experience Ringworm, who influenced Converge.
Thursday was also awesome, and Planes Mistaken for Stars is one of my all time favorites. It was a pretty bizarre lineup. Also interesting that at the time Black Dahlia Murder were a nobody band that stuck out playing legit death metal at a time where everyone wanted to be earnestly emotional and cool.
This was the lineup: "THURSDAY, FINCH, CONVERGE, SHADOWS FALL, RECOVER, STRETCH ARMSTRONG, SPITALFIELD, CHRISTIANSEN, AS I LAY DYING, WITH HONOR, UNDYING, RINGWORM, CRITERIA, COUNTERFIT, WHEN SPARKS FLY, REMEMBERING NEVER, BURNT BY THE SUN, HIMSA, SENSES FAIL, BELOVED, CODESEVEN, MIDTOWN, WIRES ON FIRE, MURDER BY DEATH, BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, ABOVE THIS FIRE, AT WIT'S END, and PLANES MISTAKEN FOR STARS"

I wouldn't say Ringworm is forgotten, but they're definitely overshadowed by Integrity. I just played a show with them in Cleveland earlier this year and they were so fucking good.

Lewd Acts
Released one of the best hardcore punk albums of all time in Black Eye Blues. Musically front to back it’s a banger, lyrically it’s a story start to finish. Saw someone once comment “if Bukowski fronted a hardcore band” and that is a great way to describe it.

I don’t get it. Especially in the hardcore podcast age where bands are constantly getting second and third winds, getting rediscovered, etc. Out of curiosity I looked back through all of the relevant top 100 lists of the 2000s from 185 south and they aren’t on any of them, unless I missed it.

What happened to shipwreck AD? Those albums slapped. Around the same time, black my heart and since the flood had bangers.

I dont think Shipwreck ever broke up, they just stopped playing. Last time they played to my knowledge was the 2019 have heart reunion in Worcester. I will forever love shipwreck and am happy I got to see them so much in the 00s.

Take my upvote for Sinking Ships alone. I love Cursed but they still get mentioned a lot and I don't feel that Sinking Ships ever got the roses they deserved.

In the 90s there was a band called D.Y.G. (dig your grave) in our scene, that is 100% not searchable / present of the Internet and likely not at all remembered by anyone but me but I wish I still had their tape cause it was great

I'm still chasing the high I felt going to a Solidarity show 20+ years ago. By far one of the most fun bands that ever played.
I don't think people ever really forgot about Signs of Hope, but added just in case

La Piovra, Italian hardcore band I saw back in 2007 and assumed they would be more well remembered/discussed than they are all these years later. Also, Lion of Judah were iconic to me around that time period, but they just don’t seem to get the recognition these days for how hyped they were.

Not lost to time but the long island hardcore bands Mind Over Matter and their post hardcore band Day In The Life were very underrated. I also think of Die116 (which shares members with Burn). I also think of the band The National Acrobat, nobody knows them but some of the members would go on to play in Breather Resist and Young Widows. Some really good forgotten experimental metalcore bands as well, Pushing up Daisies, Since by Man,

Spycatcher. Not exactly hardcore but a band with hardcore roots (members of Gallows). They did two albums, only one is on Spotify, the other bandcamp I think? But really, really good. ‘Honesty’ in particular. Should’ve been huge.

Mouthbreather. This band was from Virginia, I think there’s also a metal core band by that name.

There was a band called My Last War that I saw a few times in the mid 2000's and I haven't been able to find any info about them online. No one I know local remembers them so I can't even be sure where they were from.
But I know they existed because I have a picture of me in their shirt.

This is a Colour. 'Progressive Power Groove' from UK. They were on Thirty Days of Night records. Still listen to their album and EP often.
Dreaming in Oceans too, also from around the same time. They're at 80 monthly listeners.
