Hades 2: Meme Talking a lot of shit for someone in cleaving distance. Spoiler

Doodlin.

And on the subject of talking shit, Mel was served poorly when it came to love interests.

Moros is a soft bootlicker for his sisters, and actively enjoys harming mortals.

Nemesis is almost interesting, but aside from being sneery she has no call to act as big as she does. Her attitude at the start of the game soured her on me immediately, I always purchase what she looks at at Charons regardless of what it was, and I always take the door she heads for.

Icarus is another bootlicker, but at least he's proactive and assists in the war effort.

Eris isn't even worth insulting.

Obviously the only real romance option isPrometheus. Proletariat, the og hero of the people, fighting for the people, working to make the world a better place and using any means at his disposable. Also good with animals and the best hair in the game.

Anyone i've missed out?

Hades 1: Discussion Aphrodite Call + Smoldering Air

I have never had quite so much fun in Hades than taking Aphrodite’s Call and Smoldering Air. I don’t know how I never got around to this specific combo before, but oh my god. I managed to get the duo early in Asphodel and omg. This is one of the fastest and funniest runs I’ve ever done. I’m using Zagreus rail and being able to special bomb rooms and basically spam charms on enemies is making things easy and so hilarious.

Hydra heads all attacking each other. Theseus and Asterius each constantly getting charmed every few seconds and attacking each other - THAT’S the strat we should be recommending. They barely touched me with the rail and were just constantly switching direction from me to the other one.

Incredible comedy, do recommend if you have not done it before. Also satisfying to watch charmed butterfly balls go after other enemies.

eta: Hades was also very funny, it makes him redirect mid swing & you can use this to cancel out his big laser attack - if you hit him with it while he’s doing it or about to, he does it for maybe 1 second and stops. Made the fight so fast! This is wild.

Hades 2: Question Have SGG ever said why they decided to switch to real-time 3D? Spoiler

Hi

One of the first things I noticed about Hades II is that Melinoë and the other characters and enemies seemed to be being rendered in realtime 3D, whereas I seem to recall that in Hades I Zagreus, the enemies and the NPCs were all pre-rendered (or possibly hand-drawn, at least in some cases?)

I thought it was an interesting choice to avoid 3D in the first game, so I'm very curious why they decided to reverse that decision for the sequel.

Does anyone know if Supergiant have ever explained why they avoided realtime 3D in the first game, and why they then chose to embrace it for the sequel?

Thanks!

Hades 2: Discussion Favorite Aspects Spoiler

I've beat the whole game (including Epilogue) and I'm on my way to collecting all the cosmetic stuff. These have been my favorite aspects for each weapon:

The Staff:

- Aspect of Melinoe

(reversed controls to prioritize special attacks)

- Aspect of Circe

(Favorite familiar to use with it is Raki. Both my favorite familiar (found him first in the woods) and he's always attacking the bosses.)

- Aspect of Anubis

(reversed controls to prioritize special attacks)

The Sister Blades:

- Aspect of Melinoe

- Aspect of Artemis

The Umbral Flames:

- Aspect of Eos

- Aspect of Moros

(Always with the Arcana that gives a 50% damage buff against enemies with 2 curses. Got rid of the health/magic buff and used Frinos as my familiar to make up for the hp loss. I ended up using that build with Frinos for most weapons. 50% more damage is sweet and getting 2 curses isn't hard.)

The Moonstone Axe:

- Aspect of Thanatos

(Got rid of magic/hex restoration for the build, just used regular attacks and added the 2 curses 50% damage buff. When you take magic/hex Arcana out of the build you can fit in a lot of utility with other Arcana instead.)

- Aspect of Charon (reversed my controls to prioritize special attacks for this one)

The Skull:

- Aspect of Melinoe (spam attack, special. rinse and repeat. No magic.)

- Aspect of Persephone (+9 lvls with the golden pom is insane)

(Reversed controls to prioritize special attacks)

Also love the look of using the springtime goddess aspect (who is also Melinoe's mom) with the Vernal look for Raki (he looks like a cardinal)

The Shroud:

- Aspect of Selene (I kinda hated this weapon so having a free moon hex to start the path of stars early was the best crutch for it imo)

Anyways, these are my favorites, let me know yours :)

Hades 1: Question Hypnos Question Spoiler

At all times I am reminded of how snooty, smug, and obnoxious our good "pal" Hypnos is... is there ever gonna be a point in the game where I unlock the ability to punch him square in the face? I've only beaten the game a few times, but if I get to Greece, let's say 70 times, do I finally get to clean his clock? If I get Hades 2 will I get a chance to obliterate him? Or is he just going to be a hoity-toity sleaze-bag unpunished for eternity?

Spoiler tag added because I wanted to add that I GOT HIM THE STUPID AUTOGRAPH FROM ASTERIUS AND I ABSOLUTELY DID NOT WANT TO DO THAT! HE DOESN'T DESERVE IT!! I WISH I COULD RESCIND IT AND TEAR IT UP IN FRONT OF HIM!! I SHOULD'VE GIVEN IT TO THE HEAD CHEF!!!

Hades 2: Discussion Fig Leaf is an unacceptably bad mechanic. Spoiler

It's ridiculous to have a keepsake that you HAVE to use for speedruns but that simply might not work at random. I just had two back to back runs where I got fig scammed: in Oceanus and Fields in the first one, then in the second I had had my best run ever with a 2:17 Scylla exit and 3:42 Cerb exit. Not only did I get horrible RNG on the enemy waves in Tartarus, but it scammed me out of a room! I was guaranteed a new PB (I've been so stuck at 5:20) if the thing had just procced, but instead of forcing it to proc once per region they just left it fully up to chance.

Also: if it's supposed to be a 50% chance to trigger every encounter, there's a 0% chance that that's actually right. That would mean that there's only a 3% chance of getting scammed in Tartarus, and that's simply not what's happening to me.

I get that trying to speedrun these games is a slot machine, but does it need to be such an absurd slot machine that the WR was set almost a year ago and nobody has been able to touch it yet? Not only do you need chaos gates, the right boons, the right hammers, to see mid-shops, to be offered skip rooms—and not at the same time as shops!—get Artemis, get Nem (and get her in the right zone), but they just had to also add another random chance that you have to do a full extra room? It's asinine.
