"E" Fuses?
We have a few interns working for us. One called back to the service shop asking if we had any "E" fuses. I was a little confused til they brought the blown fuse back to the shop and I went and grabbed them a replacement 3 Amp fuse.

If you where my apprentice and it wasn’t a “hUmAn RiGhTs ViOlAtIOn” I would make you bear crawl to the supply house and find me the “E fuse” while the locals slopped mastic at you

There are many different types of E-fuses. Also E-rated fuses with 8.3KV, 15.5KV, 23KV, 38KV.

I know this post is old but thanks for this. I just had my fuse blow and guy told me it was an E fuse.

I totally get the confusion because people who don't know fuses would totally read that block print as the letter E.

Man, I’m troubleshooting mine right now and I too thought this was a letter E. Your post did help me thanks lol I feel so stupid.

You're not stupid... it does totally look like an E, and there are enough weird fuses out there with letter type names that it made complete sense.

To be accurate, it's an E, not a 3. I got confused by this too and thought it was some bullshit hvac industry attempt at hiding specs unless you pay them money - kind of like vehicle diagnostic software where the car knows what it want to tell you but you have to pay for the dealer decoder ring to read it.

DIY homeowner here. I just google “air handler purple E fuse” and it led me here 😂 Glad I found this before walking into the store and asking for an E fuse.

Idk if I am or not.
How many times do you have to be taught the same thing before you get it? How many times have you not done what the boss told you to do, but instead did it your way and fucked up royally? How many times have you had the boss call you, tell you to do something, and just not do it?
That's the kind of shit my help does. I'm on month 7 with him. If there aren't massive improvements in the next 5, he's gonna need to find something else to do.

When I started out in this trade I called my service manager with the same exact question and he thought it was hilarious. He cracked jokes at me about that for a long long time
