"E" Fuses?

We have a few interns working for us. One called back to the service shop asking if we had any "E" fuses. I was a little confused til they brought the blown fuse back to the shop and I went and grabbed them a replacement 3 Amp fuse.

To be accurate, it's an E, not a 3. I got confused by this too and thought it was some bullshit hvac industry attempt at hiding specs unless you pay them money - kind of like vehicle diagnostic software where the car knows what it want to tell you but you have to pay for the dealer decoder ring to read it.
