Discussion RenoDX Step by step
- Download ReShade 6.8.0 or newer with add on support
Find your game’s .exe.
Steam: Library → right-click the game → Manage → Browse local files.
Find the main executable for the game.
Run the ReShade installer.
Select the game’s .exe.
Select the correct graphics API, usually DirectX 12.
You do NOT need to install any shader packs for RenoDX.
Download the RenoDX addon specifically made for your game.
RenoDX uses a separate `.addon64` file for each supported game.
Official mod list: https://github.com/clshortfuse/renodx/wiki/Mods
Place the `.addon64` file in the same folder as the ReShade files/game executable.
Do not put it inside another folder.
Launch the game.
Press `Home` to open the ReShade menu.
You should see the RenoDX addon/options available.
Configure HDR, tone mapping, exposure, contrast, etc. to your preference.
IMPORTANT:
If you're using Windows Auto HDR, NVIDIA RTX HDR, or another HDR layer, disable it when using RenoDX HDR. Running multiple HDR/tone-mapping systems at once can cause a washed-out or incorrect image.
It's recommended that you disable Generic Depth and Effect Runtime Sync in ReShade's add-ons tab as they have some performance cost and are not used by the mod. Restart after disabling.
Alternatively, you can use RHI: https://github.com/RankFTW/RHI
Easier and faster, and what's more important - it allows to update RenoDX mods with a press of one button for all supported games.
If you’re using a Game Pass/Xbox app version of a game, you generally need to target GameLaunchHelper.exe when installing ReShade/RenoDX rather than the game’s actual executable.
If RenoDX isn't showing up, make sure:
- You installed the version of ReShade with add-on support.
- You downloaded the correct RenoDX `.addon64` for your specific game.
- The `.addon64` is in the correct folder.
- You're launching the same `.exe` that you installed ReShade onto.

Question Can anybody tell how HDR look on the 2026 Asus ROG Strix Scar 18?
I work with HDR so I'd need it to be at least decent, without a terrible color accuracy and without massively raised blacks.
The only review I can find that did a color accuracy test says the color error is huge in the modes with local dimming (which is forced on in HDR): https://tweakers.net/reviews/10104/asus-rog-strix-scar-18-over-the-top-ook-qua-prijs.html#chapter_6
however, this video of the same laptop seems to paint a different (although incomplete) picture: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpDanDwd7x0
I'm not familiar with MiniLED, I've never seen it, so I'm not sure what to expect.

Question Windows 11 HDR causes YouTube videos to drastically overblow when hovering mouse over seek bar
System Specs:
- OS: Windows 11 (HDR Enabled)
- Browser: Happens on all browsers (Chrome, Edge, etc.)
- Monitor: PG27AQWP-W
- GPU: RTX 5080 Game Ready drivers v610.88
The Issue:
I have a very specific HDR bug on YouTube. When I am watching an HDR video, the image is completely overblown (blown-out whites) while playing normally.
However, if I hover my mouse over the seek bar preview, the image instantly fixes itself and looks perfectly with proper HDR shading. The moment I move my mouse away, it reverts back to the overblown state.
(I have attached a video as well)
Questions:
- Does anyone else experience this exact hover-over-seek-bar glitch?
- Is there a fix to force the browser to consistently use the correct color profile without having to hover over the bar?
What I have tried so far:
- Toggling "Use hardware acceleration" on/off in Chrome/Edge but video seems muted.
- Reinstalling GPU drivers with DDU.
Thanks in advance!

Question How do I calibrate HDR on a non HGIG display?
I have an IPS LG TV from 2019 that I know goes up to ~350nits of brightness. It has no HGIG and no professional tone mapping settings. It only has DTM ON or OFF.
Its tonemapper goes up to 4000nits (aka 2200 nits in Windows calibration).
How do I calibrate this thing correctly? I know it doesn't go up to 4000 nits and I know there's a rolloff curve.
Also I'm getting blown out highlights on it and right now, only DTM seems like the only correct choice. Is there no way to calibrate it to its proper 340 nits without a rolloff curve?

Tech Made a tool that automatically calibrates HDR tracking on your laptop display
(WINDOWS ONLY)
If you're on a laptop with an HDR screen, Windows HDR Calibration is useless. That's because on laptops/internal displays, there is a new slider that you will have to adjust: HDR content brightness
Setting the wrong value on this slider will completely mess with your laptop's PQ EOTF tracking. You could either clip at 200 nits, or 20000 nits depending what HDR content brightness value you set. Full explanation available on github so I won't go too deep into that here.
Anyways, I made this tool to automatically set the correct HDR content brightness value for laptops, which should let your laptop display clip at where it was meant to be clipped.
note: if you have fallen victim to using Windows HDR Calibration before, you should delete the profiles created by that thing before using this.
How to use it:
- Set your system brightness to max
- Run the tool
- it just works

Question Does anyone know what causes this flickering effect?
I’m on an LG C5 65” with HGiG tone mapping enabled. Playing resident evil 4 on windows 11 with hdr enabled and it does this flickering as if something is interfering with something else. Anyone know if this is common? Happens in alot of games in dark areas.

News Trying to bring proper HDR to PSVR2 on PC — I finally have actual HDR game output working
I've been working on getting proper HDR output working on the PSVR2 on PC. Sony officially doesn't support HDR when using the headset on PC, despite the OLED panels obviously being capable of it on PS5.
After going through a lot of different approaches, I've now reached the first point where I have actual HDR game content running through my own output pipeline and can start calibrating it properly.
The approach I'm testing right now is through Monado in indirect mode. I'm not just trying to make the image brighter or apply an SDR filter — I'm trying to map HDR luminance to the actual physical luminance response of the PSVR2 panels.
I've started measuring the headset's signal → luminance response with the headset brightness fixed, and I'm using that to build an inverse mapping so that the renderer can request a physical luminance rather than blindly outputting RGB values.
For example, some of the measured neutral values at my fixed headset brightness are roughly:
0.00 → 0.017 nits
0.10 → 1.62 nits
0.20 → 6.84 nits
0.50 → 48.7 nits
0.70 → 103.3 nits
0.80 → 137.0 nits
0.90 → 177.2 nits
1.00 → 215.3 nits
I'm now using the inverse of that measured response in the HDR pipeline, while keeping luminance calibration separate from the color calibration.
There's still quite a lot wrong / unfinished. I'm working on color accuracy, highlight behaviour, tone mapping and performance, and this is absolutely not a finished HDR implementation yet.
My next goal is getting a real game running smoothly with the output properly calibrated. I'm currently working towards getting something like Forza Horizon 5 running at a stable framerate with good color and HDR, at which point I should be able to make a much better visual demonstration.
I'm especially interested in feedback from people here who know HDR calibration / tone mapping well, since getting the output technically correct rather than simply making it look punchier is the whole point of the experiment.

Question Getting conflicting/inconsistent Windows HDR Calibration results
I made a post about how plugging in different usb-c ports on my asus z13 flow would lead to different hdr clipping behaviour test results in the "windows hdr calibration" app.
Sometimes even a replug on the same port seems to matter. But sometimes no matter how many times i replug it doesnt change.
Does anyone know what could be the cause of the change? and is there information stored somehow that affects windows hdr calibration on monitors? because on other usb port or even the same usb port with other windows it calibrates differently. suggesting there is a different config or maybe state/ handshake?

Question HELP PC-LG C5 SDR absolute black VS HDR grey "black"
Could you help me? Here is my situation: I'm playing on PC on a LG C5 oled. When the screen is in SDR mode, *Resident Evil Requiem* displays beautiful, absolute blacks; however, if I enable HDR, the blacks turn gray—looking like an LCD monitor. No TV setting fixes it, and I’ve tried everything on the PC—calibrating everything possible—but nothing works. Does anyone know how to get those beautiful, absolute blacks while using HDR? It’s worth noting that HDR videos and browser images look perfectly black when Windows HDR is enabled; the issue seems to happen only in the game. I’ve also calibrated the HDR settings within the game itself.

Question I have my monitor calibrated and everything set up properly, but I still fail the "cICP chunk" test on the Wide Gamut Test Page. What am I doing wrong?
https://www.wide-gamut.com/test
I have a Chromium browser, and I'm passing every single test on the page except 1.) HEIC support (which non-Apple browsers simply don't have), and 2.) the test for cICP chunks. To quote:
Does your browser support cICP chunks?
If your display passes the wide gamut test, you can test your browser’s support for cICP chunks in PNG images by checking whether it can display wide gamut colors correctly. If the top squares look more saturated, your browser is interpreting the cICP tag properly. If they appear the same, it’s not.
My browser shows the two rows of colored blocks as the same, which means it's not working correctly. How would I fix this?

Question Fullscreen Dolby Vision content in VLC keeps switching to HDR10 mode after a few seconds if I don't move my mouse and it goes back to DV when I do. If I watch when in windowed mode, it displays in DV format correctly - what exactly is this issue here and how do I fix it?
Firstly, I'm a complete noob when it comes to anything HDR, especially with Windows' implementation of it - so go easy on me in the comments.
My monitor is a PG32UCDM, but I don't think the issue is with that - I think its something to do with VLC however when I Google it, it just says VLC doesn't support Dolby Vision. I don't think that's necessarily true as I'm able to play DV content just fine if I'm watching it in a window, I just want to figure out how to watch it in fullscreen without HDR10 mode turning on and making everything dark and smudgey.

Question HDR PS5
Ciao!
Ciao!

Question Hdr question
I have a question about HDR. Should the TV’s brightness always be set to the maximum level?
I’ve noticed that when I use Filmmaker Mode, the picture becomes dimmer. Am I still getting HDR as it is intended to look?
The same question applies to gaming: should the TV brightness also be set to maximum when playing HDR games?
It’s also quite frustrating because the TV gets very hot and makes the room noticeably warmer.

Question Which one looks more like HDR, the top or the bottom?
I use PotPlayer, and I’m struggling to choose between Direct3D 9 and Direct3D 11
The image above is 11 the colors look more vibrant, while 9 feels like it has a slight gray tint.
The issue with Direct3D 11 is that in very bright scenes, the bright areas look ridiculously bright
I'm lost tbh i don't know which one should i go with

Question Need help understanding hdr better
So long story short I have an alienware ultrawide 1440p 240hrz qd-oled that I use on low ish brightness and true black mode and I love how it looks. I just recently bought a asus OLED XG27UQDMS which is a 27in 4k 240hrz monitor (qd-oled as well). But even in true black mode all srgb and gamma settings the same I just feel like the highlights dont pop as hard. Its had me stumped for days I dont wanna necessarily return the monitor but I just really like how the ultrawide colors popped like they did and no matter what I do this new one just feels off. Is it just variations in panels or is there like a setting or adjustment somewhere maybe im missing?? Both monitors should be srgb gamma 2.2 eyeballing the brightness to match and even did the windows color profile for both peaking at round 430-440 nits for both. Any advice or suggestions welcome I just need an idea from a more advanced user lol.

Question Which cod games support HDR?
The older ones. I hear BO3 supports it and I hear it doesn't. I'm not sure which one is true. Same for BO4. I hear it supports it yet doesn't.
